This guide is mainly about the slang, jargon and terminology that one will find within Soulsborne community. Warning: This guide is kinda incomplete.

Welcome to this guide that will explain the Soulsbornes' slang, jargons, and quips.

Note: Help me catch any mistakes, incorrect information, bad spellings and whatnot. Thanks in advance.

Number - D
4K - The "Four Kings"

Aggro – Short for ‘aggression.” 1) Its mainly when the foe targets the player or a specific NPC. 2) The gamer got the attention and getting them angry.

AOE – An acronym for “Area of Effect”

AR – An acronym for “Attack Rating”. Mainly a weapon’s maximum damage intensity.

Arbiters – Members of the Blue Sentinels. They only invade gamers, who have killed too many NPCs or those that invaded and wasted too many hosts.

Baller Swag Sword – A nickname for the Balder Side Sword. (Another term “BSS.”)

BKGA - Acronym for "Black Knight Great Axe"

BKGS - Acronym for "Black Knight Great Sword"

BKS - Acronym for "Black Knight Sword"

BoB – An acronym for the “Brotherhood of Blood.” They’re dedicated to doing invasions and PvP.

BS – An acronym for “Backstab.” 2) An acronym for “Blue Sentinels”, who hunt down the guilty and protect the newcomers in the early game covenant.

"Be safe, friend. Don’t you dare go Hollow.” -

Bed of Bullsh*t – A nickname for the Bed of Chaos.

Burrito – Parrying and quickly attacking with an offhand weapon. Before repositioning.

Casual(s) – Mainly referring to newcomers, who came from their first Souls game, especially those that came from “Dark Souls 3”.

CDGS – An acronym for the “Curved Dragon Greatsword”.

Chain BS – Somebody who backstabs you immediately after ya get up from his previous backstab. Aka “Chain Backstab”.

Circle BS – It’s a strafing technique were one stays locked on the foe and strafes around, until the perfect backstab opening.

CoC – An acronym for “Covenant of Champions.” A harder game mode were foes respawn infinity, no summons or summoning through.

CMW - An acronym for the "Crystal Magic Weapon"

Dead Angles – Where you lock off, swing your weapons and position around your opponent's shield(s) to get a hit on them.

DMB - An acronym for "Dark Moon Blade"

“Don’t Give Up Skeleton”– 1) A meme phrase that originated from the Iron Keep skeleton, who holds a note which reads “Don’t give up skeleton.” 2) A meme phrase to encourage gamers to don’t give up.

"Don’t Go Hollow” – 1) A phrase to mean “Don’t give up, ya can do it!” Use as an encouragement to motivate and inspire others to continue. 2) A “Dark Souls 2” quip from Laurentius of the Great Swamp and the originator of this phrase.

“Don’t You Dare Go Hollow” – A similar phrase to “Don’t go hollow.”

DWGR – An acronym for “Dark Wood Grain Ring”

End – Short for the endurance stats. (Stats)

FB – An acronym for ‘fireball.’

Flips – A roll animation that gets turned into an actual flip. This can be obtained by using the Dark Wood Grain” ring and your equipment load is 25% or lower.

Flip Havel – This roll animation similar to the flip, but it has the “Havel’s Armor”, “Dark Wood Grain” ring, equipment is 25% or lower. But the character is high ranking.

Ganker(s) – A play that camps in on or more game areas, where they don’t defeat the boss in said area,...Purposely. They are also characterized as using unbalanced weapons/spells, cheap tactics or hacking for bosses, camping on spawn sites and using offensive emotes.
G - N
Ganking – A host that does the act of ganking. Mainly summoning other players and wait for invasion(s) at the spawn point. So, they can gang up upon summoning invaders.

Ghost Strikes – R1ing and pulling back on the left analog stick.

“Git Guds” – 1) Something that ya gotta do in order to play these games. 2) Its’ also use as a term to mock and/or troll pretentious people, like journalists that cry for these niche games to “easy mode.” (Aka "Git Good.”)

Giantdad – A build that uses the “Mask of the Father”, full giant armor, the “Favor and Protection” ring, and “Gavels” ring.

Griefter – A gamer, who does things to cause bad experiences for another, like giving misguiding advice or a low level PvP invader that has high ranking weapons/tools that a guy of his level can’t obtain.

HCSM - The "Homing Crystal Mass", a very powerful spell that's mostly use in PvE.

Hollowfying – 1) When you given up on playing the Soulsborne game. 2) In Dark Souls, when a person hollowfies, its when they give up and become mindless limbo zombies that haunts a particular spot where they went hollow.

I-Frames – Frames were you’re invincible when a gamer dodges/rolls.

Int – Short for the intelligence stats.

Invader – An invader(s) are a gamer or NPC that plays in the multiplayer modes.
“Invading” – A PvE and PvP modes in Soulsborne/Souls-Likes games. In where one invades into another’s game.

Kellog - The Chaos Witch Quelaag

Latency - The time it takes for information to travel.

SKSS – An acronym for the ‘Silver Knight Straight Sword”

MGS – An acronym for the “Majestic Greatsword.”

Mule – A slang term for a middle man to help with trading items/weapons/etc. With another character. (This slang came from ‘Dungeons & Dragons’.)

NG – “New Game.”
N - O
NG+ - A “New Game Plus”

Ninja Ring - A nickname for the "Dark Wood Grain Ring"

Noob Trap – A weapon, which has high base damage and fast speed stats, that’s given to gamer(s), mainly noobs, very early. It’s also very difficult to find upgrade materials for it.

Partial Parry – A mistime parry, where you get hit, but took less damage.

"Praise The Sun” – A phrase to describe delight, gratitude and lighthearted moments. Quip by a happy knight, who is a Warrior Of Sunlight.

Proc – 1) When the character gets aliments, like frostbite or bleeding from injury. 2) When a character activates something. Mainly filling up a meter to activate to give foes ailments (like poison, bleeding, etc).

PvE – An acronym for “Player vs Engine/Environment”

PvP – An acronym for “Player vs player”

Pivot Backstabs – A backstab defense form against strafe backstabs. To do this, you unlock, walk behind your opponent and stab him in the back. In some games, this doesn’t register immediately when ya do it, the foe will continue to strafe, unless they go to do this move and a double backstab occurs (Cancelling damage).

Pyro – Short for pyromancy. (Stats)

OHKO – An acronym for “One hit knock out”

Panic Roll - A roll that's performed to avoid an attacks that can be dodged by sidestepping/re-positioning.

Playing Passively - Standing around and "doing nothing", but waiting for the enemy to swing their weapons/do attacking and punishing them with good timing and spacing.
R - T
Res – Short for “Resistance” stats.

Ravioli – Making your character backstepping before turning around to backstep in a desired direction.

Reactive Roll - A type of roll that avoids attack(s) and wastes an enemy's time. Its' mainly done for repositioning.

Reverse Roll– A move were ya locked on a foe, move backwards, press the buttons for twohand and roll. Lastly, ya release the foe.

Rogue Souls - The "Rogue Souls" are roguelites that are also Souls-likes, they are a portmanteau of "Dark Souls" and "Roguelite."

“SotFS"– Scholar of the First Sin.

Skeleton – 1) A meme referencing Dark Souls 2, where there are many times that the gamer will see skeletons, who are in unusual positions, littered around. They are even accompanied by a ton of notes. 2) Referring the gamer themselves, who often dies and whose ragdoll ends up in these positions.

SL – An acronym for “Soul Level”, which is a character’s level and stats (This is also used for matchmaking purposes).

SM – Soul Memory. The total amount of the souls that your character has picked up over the game’s course.

Soulsborne – A portmanteau of “Dark Souls” and “Bloodborne”. This term is used to describe the genre of action rpg games that have high difficulty.

Souls-Like – 1) A term to describe the genre of highly difficult action rpg games. Similar to the “Soulsborne” term. 2) A game that’s made by a company that’s not From Software.

Soulsvania - A portmanteau of "Metrovania" and "Souls(-Like)". The term is to describe Souls-Likes that are also Metrovania games.

Spacing - Knowing a weapon's ranges and attack speeds.

Sun Bro – Another name for summons, mainly those that are part of the “Heirs of the Sun” covenant.

SSD – An acronym for “Summon Sign Down”

Str – Short for Strength. (stats).

Sudoku – The act of stabbing oneself with their own kanata.

SS/WSS – Red sign soapstone/White sign soapstone. Red is for voluntary invasions. While white is to summon phantoms.

Toggle – Escaping from being stunlocked when switching weapons (By using the dpad).

Toon – A player-created character.

“Try Finger, But Hole” – 1) A phrase referring to messages that are found in certain enviroments, they can be helpful, to trick others or funny. 2) A meme message that instructs gamers to treat a corpse that’s lying around in a sexual manner.
T - W
Twink – 1) A kind of cheater/script kiddies. 2) A adjective used to describe flamboyantly fashionably dressed characters and/or very effeminate bishonen, like the Pinocchio (Lies Of P) and Gwyndolin (Dark Souls series).

Twinker - Low level, but a high equipment darkwraith

TWOP - An acronym for "Tranquil Walk Of Peace"

Turtle – A player that plays defense and carries a big shield.

UGS – An acronym for “Ultra Greatsword”.

Vit – short for the ‘vitality’ stats.

WotB – Early game covenant, which allows the Blue Sentinels to come to your world area and protects ya.

White Phantom – A player that’s summon for bosses and/or a difficult area. Don’t confuse them for AI summons.

WotG – An acronym for “Wrath of the Gods.”
Invented Slang And Terms
These words, terms and jargon are invented by yours truly, whether they go mainstream or not depends.

BulletBorne - A Souls-Like that's a bullet hell/bullet heaven (i.e. the early access "Shell Of A King" game).

Gacha-Souls - 1) These are gachapon games that are also Souls-Likes and Soulsbornes. 2) A portmanteau of "gachapon" and "Souls-Likes" (i.e. "Astra: Knights Of Verda"). Aka "Gacha-Borne."

Glimmervale(s) - 1) A souls-like that is also a cozy. 2) The name of the village in of Tails Of Glimmervale. (i.e. "Tails Of Glimmervale").

SekiroBorne - A Souls game that has fighting mechanics and elements that's similar to both Bloodborne and Sekiro. (i.e. "Lies Of P" and "Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.")

Summer-Souls - 1) A Souls-Like/Soulsborne game(s) that have a happy, colorful design and/or setting. Vastly different from their drab, darker cousins. 2) A term by the Jyamma Games devs to describe "Enotria: The Last Song."
