We've been greenlit!
Release date: 2015
60 minutes. So much, yet so little.

In 60 minutes you can drive the distance of 80 miles, bake an apple pie, watch a Game of Thrones episode, take a long nap or listen to the Imperial March from the Star Wars 19 times in a row. You can go on a date and save a kitten, which cannot go down from a tree. The World is full of options.

Usually we don't think about it, because we have ample of time. But not Henry Shackelton. These are the last 60 minutes of his life and what he will accomplish depends only on you. Will you try to track down the conspirators lurking on your life? Or will you follow the woman with whom you have spent all your life until the fate has brutally separated you? Or you can just devote yourself to drunkenness, sacrificing your last moments for a rakish revelry?

Crudelis will not give you easy choices, but you have to decide. The clock is ticking, so even lack of decision is still a decision. Wait too long and you won't be able to resolve your issues. Trust your instincts and make those 60 minutes count.

Henry's fate is in your hands.

Game features:
  • Precisely 60 minutes of gameplay. Don't waste it.
  • Non-linear plot. You are Henry Shackelton – a young scientist, whose career was destroyed by the conspirators hunting for him. There are hundreds of choices, the consequences of which are not visible at first glance.
  • No savegames. There is no way you can check what would happen if you choose another option.
  • Fight your enemies with the power of your intellect, not physical force. Henry is a scientist and his greatest victory was slaying a spider on the wall. That's why he relies on his cleverness rather than his muscles.
  • Steampunk atmosphere. Because we love Arcanum, Syberia and Verne. (Yes, the Victorian Style of Dishonored too).
Watching the teaser and reading through this page takes about two minutes. And yes, that was a good decision.

Well... This may sound silly, but Crudelis is our first game and we weren't aware of the engine limitations. When we reached them, it was too late to change - we didn't want to follow the Duke Nukem Forever's path. So we decided to do a lot of modifications and keep the progress instead of starting again from scratch. But as you can see from the latest screenshots (from the 'New Website' update, for example), we do our best to give the game as much detailed look as possible. I hope that the gameplay will be good enough to forget for one hour about everything else :)

OK. But why you didnt get better engine?

Yes, it is. But Crudelis features handcrafted maps (no generators at all!), heavily modified engine, big attention to details and a very complex world - as we promised, your every decision affects the gameplay. Even if it's as simple as not talking to someone, the world around you will react accordingly to your choice. We hope to give every player a unique, emotional story - and we put three years of work into this one hour journey to fulfill our promise.

Of course, I'm sure you're not making an empty promise. I commend you and your team for pursuing a rather difficult route, an I'm rooting for you.

Thanks for your kind comment. I don't want to make a false marketing here - we are very small team and we do our best to bring you as much freedom (in terms of plot choices) as possible. We don't want to implement fixed story, in which you cannot decide on your own. We want to give you possibility to swap from one story line to another if you find it more interesting. All of them will be "main story lines", not just side quests. They will have common heroes, but completely separate situations, choices and endings. But you will have to decide which one to follow, because you won't be able to discover all of them in single run.

This actually sounds pretty great :) I would hope that there really will be hundreds of choices, and several timelines (aside from the three mentioned), and different perspectives in each one?? I imagine it'll be like a way more fleshed out and dynamic One Chance (flash game on Newgrounds)? Like maybe there won't be too many stale decisions that don't even effect the course of events, as is typical of many games that promise "meaningful choices"
