Ultrawide Guide (21:9)

Quick guide for running Resident Evil 2 Remake at Ultrawide (21:9). Although the game supports this aspect ratio, cut scenes are not supported and are cropped to 16:9.

My screen is limited to 21:9. It might work at wider resolutions.

Ultrawide Cutscenes

Before following this guide please make sure you have set your resolution in game. Mine is 3440x1440 for 21:9. Please also be aware an additional file is required, which is linked below.

To enable 21:9 cutscenes download RE2 Framework from Github[github.com].

From the release page:
RE2.zip for DX12
RE2_TDB66.zip for DX11

Once downloaded unzip the dinput8.dll file to your Resident Evil 2 installation directory.
“D:\Steam\steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL 2 BIOHAZARD RE2”
Your Steam directory might be in a different location.

You do not need to extract any of the other files.

Start the game and you will be presented with a menu in the top left.



Enable 21:9 cutscenes
Under Graphics/Ultrawide/FOV Options select Ultrawide/FOV/Aspect Ratio Fix

Prevent the menu from popping up every time you play the game.
Under Configuration select Remember Menu Open/Closed State

INSERT key will view/hide this menu.

All done. You can enjoy this amazing game in ultrawide.
