The Beginning
This build focuses on using the "Science From Idle Workers" tech boost. So if you are new then it is paramount that you get the Bronze age great person Tang of Shang then repeat unlocking him until you level him up to level 2. (Base value is 0 after all so you need something for this build to work)
This is my first guide so sorry if this is short but the build works so...
The Build
The trick is to play as Rome, find the alps, and build level 10 apartments that are supported by level the 20 industries that keep them running.

The logic is you get more idle workers from 3 level 10 apartments vs 1 level 20 apartment.
This build gets better when you get the great people that enhance your livestock farms, cheese maker, bakery, wheat farms, and aqueducts since those are needed for the production chain to feed your workers. That and any Great Person that enhances the "Science From Idle Workers" buff even further. This build works best if you can keep your happiness at 50 because it is much more efficient to have max happiness vs more apartments, but at the same time having a few more apartments can't hurt if your trying to get as much science as possible. If you can't get max happiness at first then just wait for more tech to unlock and build whatever you can that improves happiness.
The End
After you have as many Apartments that your civilization can afford to have you can continue to upgrade them and the supporting industries if you are ambitious enough but getting level 30 buildings but that will take you well over a day to achieve. So it is best to treat this game as an idler and wait until you get to whatever tech level you want before rebirthing and repeating these steps over again if your goal is to generate the most gp points in 1 day as possible. If your aiming for a longer run then this upgrade might be worth while. Especially when you build schools to keep your workforce busy. Thus giving you even more science from the workers and the building, but that is up to you to decide.

At the time of writing this with my few week old account I can reach the renaissances age twice in one day using this build netting me 32 great person points in one day and my science generation is 1.2 million. <--- which is pretty good as far as I know.

On a side note a good policy I have is to always have one of each industry active at all times because of wonder construction and wonders give me at least +1 happiness for each wonder built. That and because they can only help my civilization grow faster since the -1 happiness rating is nullified by the fact that those industries are always giving me the "well stocked" happiness boost. So it is free Empire Value generation.

Besides that it is always a good idea to experiment with new ideas in this game. Since while this strategy is definitely good in Rome for any player, especially early on. It could be even better in Memphis for an experienced player that has enough of the right industry gps to make putting apartments around the sphinx viable, thus speeding up your runs. Plus as this game updates and more stuff is added, there might be better ways to get gps faster then building a civilization of mostly unemployed workers generating science from their apartment buildings. :3

Granted it has been months since I played so better farms might exist but I stopped when I found farming the stocks over the course of 2 days more rewarding. In terms of numbers I do not remember, I just switched when it made sense pretty much.

how many great people would you stop doing this at?

As a note, you can raise GPs from Bronze, Iron, Classical and Middle ages to 3, Renaissance and Industrial to 2, and World Wars to 1 inside the Quaestor cut-off now, instead of just level 2 for everything.

I'd say just aim to play a game of catch them all since you can only level them up to level 2 until you pass that 48 hour mark. But the best chooses early on would probably be science boosting ones to make future runs faster. After you get past that 48 hour mark you can start focusing on the ones you like the most.

what great people should i focus on first? im still under the 48 hours playtime for that bonus

p.s. with colloseum built chariot workshops are exempt from -1 happiness (if you really want to create a bodyshop happy empire :steamhappy:)

Imho 2x lv15 apartments will consume and produce the same amount as 3x lv10 but you will not loose additional happiness. in this case it's 10 happiness nearly equal to plus 10% overal productivity (180->200%) and 10 cells less space used. btw nice guide

@Jack , yes that is the whole point of idler games. A single run is going to be very slow, but you accumulate bonuses on resets. In this game, the bonuses are in the form of great people. It just takes a couple of runs resetting after bronze or iron, to double your population, stone, wood yields, etc. To give you an idea, it takes me around 24 hours to reach Industrial age, and that nets me around 21 great people for reaching a new age, and an extra 5-6 due to my score. A couple of weeks ago, it took me three days just to reach Industrial from Renaissance for the first time.

Well not unless your planning on leaving the game running for weeks just to get through the industrial era, then great people are viable. Especially if you get the ones that generate science. Atm I can generate 12 science from idle workers and 29 science from active workers and all my workers are busy. It is kinda like a snowball rolling down a hill, it all adds up over time if you are patient and do not mind repeating the same steps over and over again and/or in my case experimenting and trying to find the best system. Which right now is still looking like this one for fast great person point generation in one day. Although thanks to my progress I tend to wait until I reach the industrial era before resetting.

do great people add enough to make resetting viable? not sure how much faster they make the game
