Introduction

This is another guide for our favourite boss-beater. Mostly it uses easily affordable items, so you won't have to farm for rare uniques for weeks. It is also not a summoner build, which would be the logical choice. And lastly, it is not a professional build, it does not contain heavy math and optimizations - it is my build for my way of playing her. I know this build is far from perfect and there are a lot of points to improve on it, but as I said, this is the way I like to play her. Feel free to adjust it to your playstyle.

After the above statements you might have doubts how good this build can be. Well, as I said it is not the strongest build around. I guess the easiest way to demonstrate it is to show you this small TTK (time to kill) movie.

Basically, her TTK is around 10 seconds. Please note, that it was recorded on the old dummy, which is now replaced with the raid dummy. On the center dummy the TTK is about 20 seconds.

This guide gives you:

  • Kickass DPS (you will see LOTS of Red damage numbers!)
  • Affordable itemization (good for non-hardcore players)
  • Bad Spirit management (seriously, it is bad)
  • Room to improve
  • Cosmics ready build
  • Green raid ready build

Playstyle

This build relies on your player skill for survival. It is a very DPS-heavy build, so there wasn't much room for HP/defense boost items. Still, if you are good at dodging, you can easily survive. I finished raids from entry to Surtur's death w/o dying, so you can do it too.

Warning: This build has a major weakness, its Spirit management. To keep up your spirit, you need to Melee your enemies from time to time (this is especially true for bosses). You might of course change things in the build to get around this problem, I'm just warning those who for some unknown reason want to follow this guide. :)

With my build I have these stats (the screenshot was made in the dummy room, alone, so no random buffs from other players):

Other important stats are the almost 39% Critical strike rating and the almost 49% Brutal strike rating with 354% bonus damage for brutals.

Skills
Here is how she looks like without items. (Click for bigger pictures)

And here she is with items:

You may have noticed a few strange things here.

Why no Sic'em? Well, she talks too much when she uses it. :) Also, as I mentioned before, this is not a summoner build. She still needs her squirrels though. If you feel Sic'em absolutely necessary, you can just take a point or two from the Signature move.

Where are the high damage moves? Dive Bomb and Squirrel Presents? Well, I just don't like those (now you might start to understand why I said that this is not a professional guide...).

Claw, Claw, Kick: So why do I have a melee skill in a strongly ranged build? At the moment this is my way to get back Spirit while still doing damage. If I ever find a proper core with HP/Spirit regen, I will probably abandon this skill and spend those points elsewhere. For now it gives me 8 Spirit/hit.

Stuff
This is the itemization section for this build. It doesn't contain anything which can't be looted easily, or can't be traded for. There are no superrare artifacts and uniques in the build (well, maybe there are some).

The build is about doing tons of Brutal strikes. So the items I choose will help with that and added some for survival. Since Doreen attacks so many times, her procs activate regularly, even a meager 1% chance/hit will happen relatively often.

Anyway, here is what I use:

Uniques

I use the basic SG uniques. Nothing fancy here. I don't like the Squirrel-a-gig, so I use the other one for slot 3. :)

You can try to exchange any of them for Any hero uniques or cosmics if you want.

For Any hero uniques you should look for Critical rating, Brutal strike rating, Brutal strike damage rating, Physical/Ranged damage, useful proc on hit (any percentage is ok), HP/Spirit and maybe some summoned creature duration/damage.

For cosmics, the same as above + major skill increases on your main attack skills, namely Autofire Acorns, Death from the Trees! and Squirrelpocalypse. Your melee and summoner skills are of secondary importance.

I added Physical damage bonus rune to Slot 1 and 5 item, and Defense for the rest.

The challenge bonus means I looted those items from raid bosses. Also, if your uniques have lower stats, please note that these are all Item Grade 66 items. You can do that by collecting Eye of Demonfires (from raid bosses, one-shots and login rewards) and purchase the recipe from the Raid vendor in Odin's Palace.

Legendary

While I try to focus on Brutal strikes, this is a good legendary. I tried to use the Ultimate Nullifier, but the brutal strike damage scales badly, Basically now I have 3K-ish BSDR (Brutal Strike Damage Rating) and I do 350% bonus damage for brutals. With the Nullifier I had 12K-ish BSDR, but the damage increased only to 450%. The utilities on the Trident make up for that lost damage increase. For example in raid I can help a lot with the Trident rank 4 and 5 powers.

I might experiment with other Legendaries later, but for now I'm happy with it.

Artifacts

This is where i differ from most Squrrel Girls.

As you see basically I don't use any summoning artifacts. Most artifacts are about doing damage and some survival (in the form of defense and HP).

ASSS: It is mostly about survival and Spirit, while it still gives some minor damage bonus.

Hand of Nimrod: It helps with damage and with Spirit. It also has a 3% (which is a lot for SG) chance to help a little with DPS.

Siege's Targeting System: This gives a nice flat bonus for brutal strike rating and also a very regular significant damage increase (because 5% chance means it happens very often with Squirrel Girl). The only downside is the 30 seconds cooldown, otherwise this damage bonus would be almost always on.

The Omega Drive: This gives a constant damage bonus to Squirrel Girl and all her summons (because of the Intelligence increase) and some bonus health, which is always welcomed.

All of them are blessed with Hela for those juicy brutal strikes.

Medallion

Well, this is good again for the brutals, while boosts the squirrels as well. I'm yet to find a decent cosmic one, as you can see.

Insignia

As usual, I went for damage and brutal strike rating here. Some other useful stats are Critical rating, Health, Ranged damage rating, Physical damage rating, Spirit

Relic

Since most of my damage is ranged, Xandar was an easy choice.

Tip: Exchange uniques for 50 stacks relics. If you are lucky, you get the ones you need. I was very lucky and got at least 250 Xandars so far.

Costume core

I'm yet to find a proper one, but as usual, I went for damage here. Some healing/invulnerability would be also nice, but the focus is on more damage.

Uru-forged

Physical attack with Bowazon word. Now this might be a little problematic to get, but you can either trade for the rare runes, or use some other word until you can get your paws on them.

Any word with physical/ranged damage is okay (don't get melee though). Another good choice is the River of Souls, because this build has serious problems with Spirit management.

Ring
Well, this is up to you. Whatever you feel necessary to reach your goals or plug some holes. The useful stats are similar to the Insignia: Critical rating, Brutal Strike rating, HP, Physical/Ranged damage rating, Spirit, BSD rating

Pet

For the unique part of the pet, try to get +3 Strength or +3 Fighting. Other than that, you just need the usual Ranged/Physical damage, etc.
Hero Synergy and Team-up
Since I have only 14 heroes, most of them are from random boxes, my Hero Synergy setup is just average at best. There is not much to say about this section, use whoever is useful for this build. The important stats are the usual:

  • Ranged/Area/Physical damage
  • Damage vs enemies not targeting you (it is very useful in raid)
  • Critical/Brutal strike rate
  • Critical/Brutal strike damage rate
  • Vs. Boss damage (SG rulez)
  • HP/HP regen on hit
  • Spirit/Spirit regen on hit

And these are the useful, but of secondary importance stats:
  • Summon +damage and +duration (Health doesn't really matter for squirrels and above the occassional Iron Man and demons, we don't use summons)
  • Melee damage
  • Health/Spirit on kill (useful for cosmics/general play)
  • RiF/SiF - only if you don't have any of the above

Team-Up hero

I use Magik in all passive mode. Why? I have a really good reason for it:

Becasue she is my only Team-up hero. *highfives Magik*
Omega system
As a semi hardcore player, I'm very far from 7500 Omega points (well, I'm under 1000...)

Anyway, this is how I spent my points so far.

As you see, I just went for damage again. When I get more points, I'll go for more damage. :) (Except if Red raids require more defense/survivalability, because then I get some of that too.)

Summary

Well, this is my build/guide. As I emphasized several times, this doesn't want to be a professional, optimized build and I'm well aware that there are a lot of points where it can be improved on. Please feel free to do it.

Constructive comments and feedback are welcomed, either here or on the Marvel Heroes SG forum. Thanks for reading!

Gaz's big update probably broke your guide becuase of how much it changed. sorry :(

the update included stuff like powers not needing power points, the power bar only having 8 spots, heroes only having two sets of powers, and a talents and traits section, which changes powers among other things and makes it so that SG has two primary attributes(fighting and speed)
