Introduction
Hi. I'm mirroring my submission of this unlock to the friendly Steam Guides section. This guide will help you understand what to do in order to obtain the "Piercing Magic" augment in the game.

What is "Piercing Magic"?

It's an ability that permits the wielder's magic to bypass barriers and enable you to affect Reflect-status targets. Meaning if your party is under Reflect, you can get curatives or stat buffs through with this ability.

This is a passive ability, meaning that no prior activation is required in battle to use this ability.

However, this is a class-specific ability, meaning that the wielder of this ability must be doing the casting that requires bypass of Reflect; others who cast on your Reflected targets will be bounced.

Quest Activation
Many guides out there are referenced to the DS version, and it is a specific location in the Feymarch known as "Whyt's House". This is the house that has the save point in the Feymarch.

Only in this instance you get a lone Eidolon who asks Rydia to find his companions who went off on a journey and never came back. Once you speak to him, and the initial conversation goes, as well as the first location given (obscure as it is), then the quest starts. To complete this quest, you must have already destroyed the Giant of Babil, and have gotten all eight (!!) eidolons to return to the Feymarch.

The eidolons can be sent home in ANY ORDER, just make sure they all get home. Also, you need not send them home ONE AT A TIME; you can go about your way and send them all home at once if you want to before returning to the Feymarch.

DO NOTE: If you sent the Eidolon back to the Feymarch, they will be waiting for you at the entrance to the cave. Simply accept their request to go back and you will go to the Feymarch with them. This only works once, until you have sent another Eidolon back to the Feymarch. So it's strongly advisable you try to do all of this in one sweep, and don't have to wander the Eidolon Cave to get to the Feymarch.
Eidolon Locations
The eight wandering Eidolons are in different locations. Three are in the outer world, three in the Underworld, and two on the Moon. In order, the lone Eidolon suggests:

1) "Oasis in the desert."
Location: Kaipo
Where: At the lake in the north part of town, to the west of where you got the Item Lore augment.

2) "To get a breathtaking view"
Location: Mt. Ordeals
Where: At the summit, near the Save Point.

3) "Wants to ride a chocobo high in the sky"
Location: Black Chocobo Forest, near Troia
Where: In the northern part of the Black Chocobo Forest.

4) "Wants to be drunk"
Location: Dwarven Castle
Where: Lali-ho Pub, table directly east of the counter.

5) "Making friends with another Eidolon"
Location: Sylvan Cave
Where: In the hut where Yang is, on the second floor, speaking to another Sylvan

6) "Wants to be brave"
Location: Koppol Forge, where you make the Excalibur
Where: At the well outside of the Forge.

7) "Wants to learn music"
Location: Hummingway Village, Moon
Where: Northwestern section of town, or the leftmost podium, associating with a Hummingway.

8) "Went to take a lunar excursion"
Location: Lair of the Father, Moon
Where: In the area leading up to Bahamut, to the southeast of where Bahamut stands.
After finding them all...
Once you've sent all eight wandering Eidolons home, simply return to the Cave of the Eidolons, where a wandering Eidolon will be waiting to take you directly to the Feymarch. Go back to the house with the save point, and talk to the Eidolon who started the quest for Rydia.

If you got all eight of them home, you'll also see them here. The Eidolon says that he will give you something for your troubles.

He hands you the "Piercing Magic" augment. Now that you're done here, you can go ahead and tackle those last few dungeons before the finale!
Credit where it's due...
The awesome HTML DS Guide over at GameFAQS has a lot of information detailing on what to do, but felt that this is a port of the mobile edition, which is a port of the DS edition, and the absence of Whyt had left me wondering what to do about Piercing Magic. So I merely stumbled on completing the job for the Eidolon and got the augment.

Thus spawned this sub-guide!

I am in no right doing a walkthrough, but if you need the HTML DS Guide, look for Final Fantasy IV under "Android" (AND) and you'll find it right there. 98% of all the stuff in that guide pertains to this version. This, however, pertains to the PC version of Final Fantasy IV.

Happy evil-slaying!

EDIT: NO SWEAT! This was linked from the 100% Achievements guide. Definitely worth a check if you're an achievement hunter!

(NOTE: I'm just an average gamer. I'm just offering this as public service. I'm not affiliated with any walkthrough developers of any kind. And if I don't know you, expect your friend invites to be ignored.)

It's worth repeating: this guide was done as a public service because there was no digs on how to get the augment. So I saved the pain by letting you guys know. You're quite welcome, by the way!

The HTML guide is indeed 98% correct for the PC release, the only issues is the absence of Whyt, which this "miniquest" replaces, and there's no NG++. Glad this helped out!

Thanks a lot. The HTML guide over at Gamefaqs you mention is indeed excellent.

I'm normally not a guide writer, but when I don't see how to do certain stuff, and figure it out, I tend to lend a hand whenever possible. I really haven't fully played FF3, however.
