General suggestions
I numbered elevator floors starting with 0 as the ground floor, so in this guide the first elevator floor is one up, the Sandy Stroll area.

The general layout of the game:

Final boss fight | | | _____________ Tumult exit | with white bird | Throne Ultimate trials ___ | | | | | | | | | | Tumult entrance 7 | _______________________________ ___ ___________________________________ ___ | | | | 6 Troublesome Tour Omnibag ___ Frosty Footpath | | | | Mr Boss's Lair 5 Aerial Amble ___ Ridge Ramble | | | | 4 ___ Jungle Jaunt | Grotto Gallivant | | | 3 Canopy Clamber Cooking area ___ Verdant Voyage | | | | 2 ___ Omnihook | | | | Cosmic Cruise 1 Sandy Stroll ___ | | | | G Cave ___

Learn how to roll and jump and do it often, it speeds up getting places a lot.

There are two achievements that require you delay obtaining the omnihook, so you can easily miss them.

Many achievements can be obtained (or require) a kind of a "cheat". Did you know that you can take the white bird from the storm area? Just ride the golden elevator up, go left and pick it up, put it in the bag.

All races and trials must be completed twice. Although hard to beat the harder, timed version of trials, I recommend that you do try to complete them early on, because they teach you skills that will definitely be needed later on. They're like "final course exams", if you can't pass them easily, you'll have a lot of difficulty in progressing through the other levels/trials.

The game takes between 10-20 hours to finish on the first try, so don't even bother going for the speedrun on the first try. Take your time and learn how to move fluently, look for all the cogs, and try to remember where things are and which cog fragments are the easiest to obtain, even if it takes you a long time to find them the first time.
The missable ones
These require a specific way of playing and can easily be missed in a playthrough.

Hmm... How do I turn it on?

Enter the spaceship before acquiring the Omnihook.

Where is the spaceship? In the Sandy Stroll area, on top of the lighthouse.

How can you reach it? Normally, you need the ability to grab on hooks, but is there another way to get that high up? Can you build a ladder?

Out of barrels!

Who needs the Omnihook?!

Collect at least 26 cog fragments before acquiring the Omnihook. That means, avoid the Cave of the omnihook on the second elevator floor. This is easier to do if you first do a full run gather the location of many of the cogs. It is actually possible to get over a hundred cog fragments without the omnihook! Use a lot of barrels to build ladders to reach places that would normally require grabbing a hook.
The normal ones
You should get all of these just by playing the game normally.

3 fragments = 1 cog

This is automatically obtained, just hunt for some golden pieces of the cogs.

Restorative nap

Find a hammock and push Up to take a nap.

Bearer of the Omnihook

Obtained when you beat the Cave of the Omnihook, which is two rides up the elevator, on the right side. Be careful that two other achievements requires that you don't finish this too soon!

Swift movement expert

Obtained when you complete the trial "Moving swiftly" a second time, in timed mode, before the timer runs out. This is on the first elevator floor, on the way to Sandy Stroll.

SlingHop expert

Obtained when you complete the trial "Slinghops" a second time, in timed mode, before the timer runs out. This is on the third elevator floor, on the way to Verdant Voyage.

Bearer of the Omnibag

Obtained when you beat the Sanctuary of the Omnibag, which is on the 6th elevator floor, on the left side, past the basketball zone.

Quintuple gold

Beat Dashton the penguin in all the rematch races. There are 5 of them.

Pro player

Beat all the OctoRetro minigames in hard mode. There are 5 arcades around the elevator area, which are unlocked when you free an octopus. Each arcade has a really old game, with two levels each: Pong, Space Invaders, Breakout, Bubble Pop, and Basketball.

Long live the king!
It's nice here don't you think?
Why would anyone leave?

After you beat the storm and emerge on top, sit on the throne for a while.

Move on

After you beat your dark side, go through the door. That happens way up, after you beat the storm and find the throne, get the white bird again (just go left to grab it) and fly up above the throne, and fight the dark side.

Time trial expert

Beat all the time trials in "The Source", including the Ultimate ones.

Collectaholic!

Collect all cogs in Promenade's world, including the ones for the post-end trials. 180 cog fragments in total.

Congrats and Thanks

Triggered when you complete the game 100%, including the ultimate trials.
The special ones
These require doing something special. You may get some by accident, but some require going out of your way.

It's not a trampoline!

Find a chicken and jump on top of it a few times. As a reminder, chickens are found in Verdant Voyage, on the third floor.

Just in case...

Find one of hoping bunnies, catch it with the poulp, then hit it again. Bunnies are in Verdant Voyage, Grotto Gallivant, Ridge Ramble, and Troublesome Tour.

Hug on command

Find the way to hug your poulp anytime you want. Normally, if you don't do anything for a few seconds, the poulp will give you a hug (or the other way around). There is a way to trigger it, try to figure out how. Look at the keyboard/controller configuration. By default it is not mapped to any button, just edit the mapping and choose a button.

Boing boing boing !!!

Bounce on Lewis's bed. The bed is in the haunted house, which is in the cold area on the 6th elevator floor, behind the locked gates. More specifically, it is in the main part of the house, in the big room with a bed and other furniture.

One more minute and I'll get up...

Rest for a total of 5 minutes in the hammocks. Just find a hammock and sit in it for 5 minutes until you get the achievement.

Just to be sure...

Pester the bazoocrab. There are a few bazoocrabs, Sandy Stroll, Aerial Amble, and in Troublesome Tour in the Comedian's theater. After you defeat it, just throw another thing at it.

The Godzilla in the clouds

Obtained in the "Mr Boss's lair" when you panic the little people in there. The Boss's lair is easy to miss, it is above the boat, which is above the mountains, on the 5th elevator floor. To trigger it, roll around quickly on a floor with many little people.

Forbidden command: paradox hazard

Obtained in the "Mr Boss's lair". The Boss's lair is easy to miss, it is above the flying boat (Aerial Amble), which is above the mountains (Ridge Ramble), on the 5th elevator floor. To trigger it, on the higher building floors with blue teleporters put a blue door in your bag and try to go through the other door.

A true masterpiece!

You don't get this one when finishing all the DaPinchi's paintings, so what could it be? Just put a lot of paint in one of the paintings.

You did WHAT?!

Professor flavor soup? Where can you cook? Where is the professor? The professor is in the space area, above the lighthouse in the Sandy Stroll, on the first elevator floor. Grab him, put him in the bag, take him to the cauldron left of the garden section (third floor), throw him in.

404_recipe_not_found

Where can you cook? Where can you find eggs? Eggs are in the Ridge Ramble mountain area, or on the left side of the fifth elevator floor. Grab one, put it in the bag, take it to the cauldron left of the garden section (third floor), throw it in.

The floor is lava

Enter the level "Ridge ramble" from the elevator without touching the ground. There are ziplines to take you there, you must ride them without touching the ground and jump straight into the ramble hole. You probably need the bag to store something for the last jump, or use the white bird to fly in directly.

Smart burglar

Steal the moles' treasure without having to sneak-by. You can get this even after you complete the sneaky path the normal way. If you pay attention, the exit of the vault is right behind the first mole guard, but is too high to reach normally. Either bring a ton of barrels to build a tower, or use the white bird to fly in.

Madeline would be proud

Climb the mountain without falling. You must complete the ridge path without dying, which requires either a lot of tries until you no longer fail, or just use the white bird to fly through.

Oscar of the best actor

Beat the "Comedian's lair" without taking damage. The Comedian's lair is in the haunted house, which is in the cold area on the 6th elevator floor, behind the locked gates.. This requires a lot of tries until you perfect it. There are 3 boss fights, which you already did normally through the rest of the game, but this time it's doubled. The bazoocrabs and the bird are easy to do, but it's hard to dodge the armadillos without a lot of practice. But there is a trick you can use: bring in at least 4 barrels, put them in a 2x2 square, hide inside whenever the armadillos jump around. They will not be able to go through the barrels. They also stop the bazoocrab bombs, and you can sit on one to avoid both the spikes and the dashes of the bird, turning this into an almost trivial boss fight.
The secret ones
These require exploring the world, and are usually in hard to reach or hard to notice places.

An enigmatic blueprint...

Find the secret at the bottom of the Great Elevator.

One of the hidden items. This one is hidden at the ground elevator floor, on the far left side, and requires the bag and some careful jumping, or just use the white bird.

A bizarre message...

Find the secret on the distant island.

One of the hidden items. This one is hidden in the Sandy Stroll area, on the far left side, and requires a paper airplane or the white bird..

An odd packet...

Find the secret at the top of the gigantrees.

One of the hidden items. This one is hidden in the Canopy Clamber area, high up on the grat stalk rising behind Dashton the racing penguin. To reach it, as you ride the zipline down from the top of the Path of the Sticky-Plants, jump on the yellow tuft of flowers..

A cryptic letter...

Find the secret in the concealed house.

One of the hidden items. This one is hidden in the Jungle Jaunt area. Can you spot a Concealed house in that area? If you don't know what it looks like, have you seen other houses nearby? It is one of the big radish houses, hidden right next to the hole leading to Grotto Gallivant. You need to bring a portable door from the lower level, and you need either the bag, or to build a ladder out of barrels.

A peculiar list...

Find the secret hidden in the hull.

One of the hidden items. This one is hidden in the Aerial Amble area, inside the hull of the ship. Can you spot another hatchdoor in the hull, next to the one leading to the Bazoocrab? How can you reach that door and open it? You'll need to ride a paper airplane.

A curious postcard...

Find the secret in the cold grotto.

One of the hidden items. This one is hidden in the Frosty Footpath area, on the far right side, and requires some careful jumping, or just use the white bird.

Nap buddy

Take a nap next to the chillest of crabs.

Where can you take naps? In hammocks.. Look out for a sleeping crab next to one. Where are there multiple hammocks? It is in a ship. In Aerial Amble, next to the Bazoocrab.

A singular bird

Scare away the tiny white bird in the Great Elevator.

This really requires exploring the outside level. Here, Great Elevator doesn't mean it is literally close to the elevator, but that it is in the zone named Great Elevator.

The bird is on a roof.

On the Tiny Huge house, located right of the Omnihook cave, on the second elevator floor.

The speedy ones
These require doing things fast. I re-included the ones that are normally done in a playthrough.

Quintuple gold

Beat Dashton the penguin in all the rematch races. There are 5 of them. If you have the bag, it is easy to cheat with a rocket from space, or the white bird.

Time trial expert

Beat all the time trials in "The Source". There is one trial in every zone, including 3 in the elevator area, one of (Experts) which is kind of hidden.

Better than the developpers?
Better than the developpers!

Beat one/all developer times in a time trial (without using objects from outside). This does not include the Dashton races or the Ultimate Acrobatics. The developer times are:

  • Swift: 47s
  • Slinghop: 46s
  • Experts: 1m5s
  • Cannons: 27s
  • Rockets: 56s
  • Thorns: 1m24s
  • Ziplines: 37s
  • Chimpanzips: 1m10s
  • Spitty-plants: 1m2s
  • Heights: 57s
  • Paperplane: 1m19s
  • Snowballs: 1m8s
  • Memory: 3m10s
  • Tower: 5m25s

Lightning fast Promenade!

Beat Promenade in 2 hours and 30 minutes or less. Speedrun achievement. Finish the game normally first, take your time, perfect your moves, look for all the cog pieces. Take notes, which cogs are hard to find the first time but only require a few seconds the second time, like all the X Marks The Spots, off the path things. You don't need all the cogs, so avoid things you're not sure you can easily do on the first try like all the trials and timed races. Switch between your first run and the speedrun to practice harder things, since you do need a few octopi to unlock the storm. Only do the minimally required amount of tasks to unlock the next elevator floor.

It's been a while since I played this... I recommend watching speedruns, for example this one: https://www.speedrun.com/Promenade/runs/y9jk9onm

Playing around with the "Who needs the Omnihook?!" Achievement for a while and find this awesome guide. I got stuck after collecting 31 and saw no hope for the 36-cog lock for next floor. Is there any hint for the next step?
