1963 Checker Marathon cab

The Checker Marathon is an automobile produced by the Checker Motors Corporation of Kalamazoo, Michigan, between 1961 and 1982. It was marketed as a passenger car for consumers, as opposed to the similar Taxi, which was aimed at fleet buyers.

In spite of its company's intentions, Checker did not have a nationwide dealer network, and thus most Marathons were sold to fleet buyers. This is why the checker marathon cab became a more ubiquitous sight than the regular sedans.

Finally, this icon of urban New York City makes its way into Cities Skylines.
