CRY OF FEAR Preferred settings

Does Cry of Fear look like a game from 2012? That's because it is! Here's how to make it look better by a TON.

Brightness and other settings

Using the mobile phone, lantern, or hand torch really sucks due to you needing to dual wield it with items for it to work correctly, and it cant even be dual wielded with most items! Heres how to fix that.

First of all the settings and brightness, when you click on the "start" button on steam or enter the shortcut on your desktop, a small window will pop up, there should be a "Set resolution:" button on the top left corner, put it around 1280x720 or whatever you prefer, this isn't the brightness but it sure does help make the game look better.
Enter the game and go to the 3rd person screen and click settings, under advanced, there should be a "brightness boost," put in 2.0-3.0 or whatever you prefer.

Fov multipliers and the console

The fov is a bit more complicated, join the game and you need to enable the console commands (forgot how), press ~, then you need to type in "cl_fovmultiplier _._" this increases or decreases your fov. The starting fov is 1, while the recommended range would be anywhere from 1.2-1.6, type the desired fov into the empty boxes.

Skipping cut-scenes

Skipping cut-scenes is the most complicated but still pretty easy. Open steam, go to library, on the left hand side of the screen, look for Cry Of Fear and right click on it. This should open up a small menu. click properties, and there should be a dark grey box. Type in -cl_fastcredits 1, this enables you to skip cut-scenes by pressing the "enter" key, though this does stop working from the train scene forward. Also does not work for custom-campaigns.

(USED FOR SPEEDRUNNING) Movement glitches

One movement glitch is basically just propelling yourself using the jump and dodge feature.
You want to dodge, (double tap w,a,s, or d, or ALT) and then you want to jump right after. It is important to not do this at the same time.This will cause you to reach high speeds! You can also crouch while doing this, which limits your turning ability while propelling, but it also uses up less stamina.
If you use a gaming mouse, you might want to bind the side buttons of your mouse to ALT and Space.

Mods + Outro

Lastly, in cry of fear, the animations are pretty good but they're still a bit bland in my opinion.
Moddb is a great website to get those mods from, they're safe and wont give away info to others.
Get whatever mod you prefer, but I believe to get a glock, shotgun, and a phone reanimation, since they are the things you'll be using the most in your playthroughs.

So, these are my settings I used in Cry Of Fear. I got all the endings and all the unlockables with this, that's just how reliable a few changes are!
