Overview
Have you been wandering around for god knows how long trying to find small game for the achievements or some easy credits? Yeah, I was too. So I scouted around and got mauled by bears and headbutted by moose - all for you guys. :)

If you find 2+ animals at a location I haven't marked, please screencap it and let me know! If you like I will add your user to a "thanks" section of the guide. Likewise, if you'd like to use the maps I made in your guide, let me know and give me credit for them.

So without further ado, the guide!

Update Notes

Completed the NW section, which completes the main portion of the guide. The only things that remain for me to do are figuring out the exact minimum distance of the rifle accomplishment, as well as find a few choice areas for certain animals. If you come across a spot I've missed, let me know and I will check it out.
Basics
  • For the in-game accomplishments to be earned, the weapon type indicated on the creature must be used (arrow for bow, shell for shotgun, bullet for rifle).

  • The number above the animal is the number of credits you'll earn for that accomplishment.

  • Completed accomplishments are in green, unfinished are in white.

  • The number you've killed and the number you need to kill are below the animal.

  • Judo tips and bird shot are great for small game hunting because of how much ammo you get, don't forget to stick extras in one of your pack slots.

  • Small game die no matter where you hit them or what you hit them with, so if you'd rather hunt small game using big game ammo, feel free. You just have fewer shots.
Depending on the weapon type, animals must be shot past a certain distance, so be sure to check your scope or binoculars to know how far away the animal is. (Might vary between maps, need to test)

Shotgun: 40+ yds
Rifle: ~80+ yds (need to test more)
Bow: 25+ yds
When you shoot an animal that counts toward the accomplishment, you will see your current count pop up on the screen.
The locations on the pre-hunt map (e.g. Red Wallow) are just starting points on the same map, meaning you can go anywhere on the map no matter what starting location you picked.
The number of animals at a location varies with the time (which you can check in the map and change in the pre-hunt screen), so if you don't see much, check back later!

Choice Areas

Coyote (Rifle)

The best place I've found for coyote (yellow) is right next to the Red Oaks entrance. Just pick one of the tree stands, look down at the field, and wait.

Fox (Bow)

Fox (red) seem to be incredibly difficult to find on this map, however I've had the best luck in the area NW of the Fox Creek entrance. YMMV.

Rabbit (Rifle, Shotgun)

They're everywhere (green)! The most convenient spot is by the Buck Hill entrance. Just walk to your left and you should see several rabbits and a few burrows.
Northeast
Choice Areas

Coyote (Rifle)

This one is tough due to the distance requirement. I recommend going to the stand north of the starred location (yellow). Most of the coyotes you see in the marked area will be far enough away for this accomplishment.

Fox (Shotgun, Bow)

East of the river, near the tree stand, I shot tons. The surrounding areas, such as the clearing on the hill nearby, are also good. But near the stand is by far the best.

Rabbit (Bow)

There are tons of rabbits in the green-marked areas, however the location with the star has three burrows all right next to each other. Rabbits galore.
Southwest
Choice Areas

Coyote (Shotgun, Bow)

I had wonderful luck at the stand west of the star around 10:00-10:30. At least eight on the map at one time.

Fox (Rifle)

My favorite spot for this accomplishment is northeast of the Durango Springs entrance (SW of map). I easily finished this accomplishment by loading up DS at 7:00, heading to the closest stand east, shooting everything, and repeating.

Rabbit (Rifle)

I have barely seen any on this map, so if you have, for the love of god let me know so I can add it. No amazing spots yet, but the ones I've seen have all been in the east of the map.
Northwest
Choice Areas

Coyote (Rfile)

Haven't found an awesome place yet, but my favorite so far is the most north-eastern spot. Use the stand closest to there to pick off a few coyotes. Ones walking in from the left will be too close to count.

Fox (Bow, Shotgun)

The best spot I've seen for these guys is in the forest between the two largest mountains on the map. I shot about 7 or 8 here. Be wary of distance.

Rabbit (Shotgun)

The best spot I've found for this is right near the Silvertip Pass entrance. Sit in the stand to the NW and you will have line of sight to four burrows. Only bad thing is the spawn rate doesn't seem too high, if you find a better one let me know.

I have found a rabbit spawn on south west map.
Apon spawning at Aztec junction look behind the trees directly in front of you and a rabbit spawns there. There is a blind over looking it but it is too close

good spot for rabbits in the northwest is from the stand right next to Allanbridge spawn point.
