E.D.E.N. Protocol

Descrizione
DISCLAIMER: This is a Test Version

The origin is feature complete and, judging from our personal test games, good to go for a wider audience of test players.

If you decide to try it out, please go in with the understanding that:

  • There may be minor bugs
  • There will be typos and sub-optimal phrasing in some places
  • Balancing might be off

In any of the three cases please let us know about it. This separate mod is intended to collect feedback and improve the origin before adding it to the More Events Mod after polishing.

So, what is the Origin about?

The E.D.E.N. Protocol is a Void Dweller origin for machine empires, but there is more to it. These machines terraform and seed planets with primitive life to then cultivate and maintain it.

The player is discouraged from colonizing planets and instead incentivized to reserve them for organics instead. In turn he profits from primitive civilizations being present in his space.

Over the course of the game (speed is depending on how many primitives there are) the machine consciousness will self-modify its programming, offering the player choices how to develop their empire, culminating in a decision that may fundamentally change the way the machines treat their fosterlings.

Let's talk content

  • 1 Origin, obviously (Void Dwellers for machines, if you don't care about pre-FTLs)
  • 1 starting Destiny Trait
  • A starting situation and final event with impactful player choice
  • 3 Buildings: one for Terraforming, one for creating pre-FTLs and a Driven Assimilator Alternative
  • 1 Relic + Digsite
  • 1 Edict
  • 1 Bombardment stance for aggressive pre-FTLs creation :)
  • Several events mainly tied to the situation and pre-FTL seeding
  • 2 Starting system options ( default + Sol)

Compatibility
In order to get everything to run as intended, we had to overwrite the following vanilla scripts:
  • event enclave.7005 (change in the trigger to account for our origin)
  • ascension perk ap_voidborn (change in the potential to account for our origin)
  • scripted triggers is_void_dweller_empire (added our origin)

Your feedback begins here :)

How long should it take for seeder drones to seed a planet? It's been a few years but the uncolonized habitables are still not having pre-ftl's show up.

The only thing we overwrite is related to the voiddwellers origin.

ill bear that in mind didnt see that last time lol
Also i know this is a big no no with this origin but im a sucker for a relic world to then restore it into ecunomopolis. i found one but it dont have the option to restore it in the decision window, is this why?

There is also a decision to turn a world with organic pops back into a pre ftl world. This was added mainly for conquered planets from wars, but should work in this case as well. You should have it in the planetary decisions on that world.

understood thank a bunch

As you progress through the situation, you encounter a archaeological site. Excavate it and get the relic. I think the decision and bombardment are locked behind the relic.

send pops to pre FLT worlds, i have not seen this before, and what relic for that type of bombardment

The arriving pre-FTl are event driven, so we cant block them. ... but the event is also from MEM so im gonna see I can do. You can already turn whole planets into pre-FTLs via bombardment (requires the relic) or send single pops to pre-FTLs planets via decision

ohh ok ill go and speak to the PD guys then cheers.
The primitives that progressed were the ones who arrive in an unknown ship in one of your systems and settle on any habitable world. so think they may have not got the message about not going any further than machine age so i promptly amalgamated them into the grid lol
This may be something you can expand on though for other space faring species once conquered the player can have a choice either be, assimilated, amalgamated, killed or revert back to pre FTL society and become a new primitive under the players protection
