Yes, I used precisely these instructions, and it works, the game runs and HDR is available.
It's strange that it doesn't work for you. Did you replace the "sl.interposer.dll"?
Maybe it depends on hardware (it'd be strange if that's the case though); I have an Nvidia GPU and an AMD CPU.

Special-K is a very well known and widely-used tool, it's not a virus.
You can of course wait for a patch, but it's unlikely that it's coming. Lots of games unfortunately never get HDR support. I'd say chances are quite slim that it'll be added if it isn't there now.
