How to Break This Game
By FOXXOF
As much as this is a guide for others, this is more like a note to self in case I want to replay it after 1.0 releases. The version you last played is V 0.13.4.0

  • THIS GAME IS LIKE TERRARIA
The first slot is the canon one, the one called the great wilds. But you made a Small World in slot 5 that is your Gate of Babylon. This is where you will funnel all your worldly possessions that you can put in your inventory.
What does this mean? Create 60 lot miniworlds in slot 2-4, and rob them blind. They are a world you will abandon. Do what you must do to get what you want.

  • DO NOT DEBATE
There is no merit in debating with your mouth, where you can debate with your fists.
This is WUXIA, the only sound you need to hear from them is a Yes, or a broken bone.
If you do have to debate, focus on Persuade and Recount Tale.

  • THERE IS NO BEST BUILD, but there are better ones
Everyone has their own playstyle, just like every cultivator has their own dao. Experiment with what you like, and try not to tell others what they should use. Instead, post a build you have tested and present the use case.

  • Be kind
To those who are kind to you. There is a reason why breaking their leg is an option. Some NPC only understands FAFO. And to achieve that,

  • Be Strong
Not strong enough to kill Gods, or even Huanmos Servants, but strong enough that those sect leaders won't try to find out with you.

  • Use Acquire SPD +% Buffs while Learning
These will increase how fast you learn/relearn abilities. Is essential to not go crazy when leveling Empower Spirits. Peach Wood Rod (weapon) + Wisdomness (hat) always comes with Acquire SPD +% Buffs

  • Use Material Acquisition Efficiency while Resource Grinding
These will add x amount of item per hit when you are harvesting trees, rocks, and plants.
Iron Sabre (weapon) + Vine Hat + Vine Gown + Vine Pants always comes with Material Acquisition Efficiency.
Example: Material Acquisition Efficiency is +27, where you usually get lets say 3 wood per hit, you now get 30 wood per hit, meaning the weaker you are, the more exponential your harvest will be. This is especially a godsent when you are grinding for things for rare harvest drops like mandala.

  • Equipment for Exploration or Traveling
Soaring Cloud : Removes fall damage; legendary improves max cold stacks
Walk In Divinity : Movement SPD +50%; legendary improves max vigor
    Don't bother getting the legendary.
If you activate true method, you also activated Insufficient Power (MSPD+20%) if you have learned it from the Dynasty Guards.
PSA : Broken Sage Trainers
While in the Discord, I found out that the myth that Sage Trainers does spawn if you play in Chinese Language. This makes the tedious 20 talk method obsolete, unless you don't want to change language.

To paraphrase what UnLeaSheD said in the discord:
Change the language to Chinese
Make a miniworld
Enter, and the NPC will chat you up, and if it says something about trainer, you hit jackpot, else, just restart the miniworld.
The NPC will spawn in that lot and demand something like 10,000 gold coins to teach you the sage level. Still a better deal than chatting up 20 people per skill.
If you can't read chinese like I do, I was also directed to use translator from phone cameras.

Update: Tested it myself with a character with most skill in level 5.
The sage trainer does spawn, but with a caveat.
All the NPC that spawns there has their name in simplified chinese, even when you return back to english, you have been warned.
Example case is the leechcraft sage. Placed the lot in english, 3 people spawned. Placed in simplified chinese, 4 people spawned. I even tried them to teach me the skill and it works.
Notified a dev about this in the discord, and they said they are showing it to their team. Hopefully this gets fixed ASAP.
What you need to do to be strong
The bare minimum:
1. Don't start in the Great Wild
2. Plunder as much as you can from the miniworld to create a base in Slot 5
3. Practice Sneak & Geomancy
4. Place the lot called Dragon Fang Loch (Cold 2) and Black Crow Ridge (Pleasant)
5. After getting the treasure detailed in Creating a Black Site, begin a robbing spree.

The True Beginning:
TRUE METHOD, it's the most important inner kungfu in the game, followed by Primordial Chaos.

Why? By default, you have 18 meridian nodes; with primordial, you get another 12 at no cost other than learning it; with true method, you get another 15 at the cost of at least activating it once. That's a total of 45 nodes.
I HIGHLY recommend you have primordial chaos before bothering to activate true method in your meridian. As said, there are only 18 nodes by default, and true method requires a sequence of 18 nodes. Unless you are lucky, or has 400 IQ, you are not going to activate it.

How? Get the Karma Pristine Birthright, which requires ANY of these 3:
  • 1 Million Coins
Money is either the fastest or the slowest depending on how much you understand the game.
    or
  • 30 Intimate Relationship (the one from talking and choosing the 600 relationship option)
Intimate relationship is relatively cheaper costing 180,000 coins of gift (10 coins per relation X 600 relation X 30 people).
    or
  • 30 Enmity Relationship (declare enmity or break their leg if you are strong enough)
Enmity does not cost money, HOWEVER, it might cost you your life. It's basically a speedrun if you are going to finish this while not being strong enough because of one thing, from time to time, people who hate you will band together to ambush you. I had a 1v12 situation, some of which died from an AoE attack that granted me Ill Fated Karma.

9 out of 10 dentist will recommend you to go do the 30 enmity route, because this comes with the added bonus of unlocking the Ominous Karma, which grants the skill Extermination.
[Obsolete] Jade Farm : How to Utterly Break the Game with Patience and a Second Character
When you retry in 1.0, Fortune Jades can't be placed in Counters anymore.

Setup Phase:
Have unlocked the 2nd character slot
Have a 1 lot miniworld you will use as a treasury to store all your wealth. I would suggest poisoning the 1st NPC to death.
Have your main char give a 2nd char the "Counter" item
Have the 2nd char place the counter next to the temporary cargo ship.
Have the 2nd char return to karma.
This will make this counter not belong to anyone, and is accessible to everyone.

Production Phase:
Create a 2nd Char with Restricted Karma
Have it View the Counter, and Place All
Return to Karma

Results?
43 Fortune Jades + 1 Treasure Map per run.

If you are patient enough, you can beat Huanmos Servants with ONE PUNCH if you are patient enough to raise it to around 31,000.
Skills and Inner Kungfu Opinions
WARNING: these are my OPINIONS, as stated before, I am not forcing you to use it, nor am I obligated to try an esoteric combo you developed and liked.

Extermination (Sword Skill)
Have a char activate the Omnious Karma, become a guru of Extermination, and transcribe the book into your book case, BECAUSE:
At Guru, it deals 4 times weapon ATK DMG, but it cost a whooping 15 swords to activate. But, each enmity you have in that miniworld will reduce the cost by 1 until it's only 1 sword, with a limit of gaining 1 per round. Each enmity also adds 1 hit, let that sink in. With 14 enmity, you will be hitting the enemies 15 times per round. At that point, you might as well play BerriedDelight.mp3 in the background and saying I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING!!!
How Purple Cloud Qi Inner Kungfu affects the damage, I don't know, but with that combo alone along with Jade Sting, I inflicted OVER 9000 Poison Gas in one go. That's at least 180,000 DMG. One discord member with a character bred for Weapon Damage did 33,138 poison gas. 660,000 DMG?

Wave Palm (Skill)
I doubt you have not heard how convenient and broken this thing is except against Huanmos Servants. If you have all the contributing factor, it's basically your maximum chi x21.
  • 350% from Level 5 Chi of the Sun
  • 150% from Demo Slayer Arhat (Inner Kungfu)
  • 200% Yi Jin Jing [Brahma] (Inner Kungfu)
  • 200% from Xuanwu (Hat)
At this rate, before bonuses, 210 Chi should one shot Frogs and Serpents, or 715 Chi to one shot Sect Leaders.

Wudang Pure Yang (Inner Kungfu)
One of the greater cheat mystery of this game. Every end of turn, it will do DMG what is believed to be 25% of your energy. Energy itself is just your maximum Chi x5. With Frogs and Serpents being at 4,500 vigor, you only need 18,000 Energy or 3,600 max Chi (after bonus) to one shot them if you can endure the round.
Inner Kungfu Combo (45 Nodes)
This section assumes that you have 45 meridian nodes, and at least 45 Meridian Shift Pills.

Creating the Black Site
What is a Black Site?
Black sites are clandestine detention centres operated by a state where prisoners who have not been charged with a crime are incarcerated without due process or court order, are often mistreated and murdered, and have no recourse to bail. - Wikipedia

What this boils down to is creating a site where you can securely detain people without them having a chance of getting out, even if they break free from their cage. This is where the Black Crow Ridge lot come in. You might want to place it close to your home base, or close to where you operate.
It's the only place you know that has a locking mechanism to prevent those that got in absolutely no way out unless you let them.
It has good loot too, the only requirement is for you to progress enough to be able to place the 2 necessary lots.

Dragon Fang Loch (Cold 2)
It's just a lake with a Big Black Snake swimming inside of it. It has 4k health, so unless you follow a guide on Wave Palm, don't even bother. The treasure box is located underwater, it's underneath the base of the largest rock fang. Wait for the Big Black Snake to wander in the opposite direction, then dive in, grab the chest, and GET OUT!

Black Crow Ridge (Pleasant)
The location we need is located on the right of the 2 premade houses there. There is a large stone wall with decorations, and Crows if you get close enough. You can open it with the key from the Dragon Fang Loch.

At the end of the tunnel, following the short cave on the right side of the stele is a few Legendary Items, but the one we are interested in is the pants, Yingying Buyun, Range Sensed -50%. If you are a Stealth Guru (Level 5), that makes you 100% noiseless (they can still see you if you are in front of them.

With this, you can raid buildings with impunity.
[Obsolete] Stealing is a pain, how do I lessen the pain?
The "limit" for Geomancy goes from 100 > 500 > 1,000 > 3,000 > 5,000 > 10,000 coins in value.

How do you get to 1-5 really quick? Make Cages and lockpick them yourself. After that, recycle them, and place them back. You will probably need around 7 of them eventually anyway.

What about level 6? From Guru to Sage.
1. Make a Black Site in Black Crow Ridge and place Cages.
2. Place Bandit Lots.
3. NEVER kill bandits until you have become a Sage of Geomancy and Stealth.
3. Capture them instead. Fight > Mercy > Knockout > Carry them to the Black Site > Detain on cage.

Why bother with all this? This works with any Abilities where the Sage (level 6) is the secret of whatever family that is not in the game.
What you need to do is Talk > Talk about topics that interest the other person. Each talk gives you 5% exp on said skill. That's talking about it 20 times, even for the Sage Level.
What's the problem? There is a 4 in game hour rest before NPC is willing to have such a discussion again, and they will go wherever they want in that 4 hours. It's less painful for store managers. But Geomancy and Stealth are from Bandits ONLY! AND THEY WILL ROAM THE MAP!
Marking them with Eagles is possible, but why bother?
If you capture them, wait for them to wake up, then talk to them before heading out for your next target, you will be done by the time you capture the 6th bandit in your Black Site. I know, I counted. (1+2+3+4+5+6=21)
Whichever skill you Saged first does not matter, the next batch will only take 4 rounds of talking, or 3 if you caught a 7th bandit. (4x6=24 vs 3x7=21)

Congrats, not you have become a Sage in Geomancy and Stealth.
You can do whatever you want with the bandits, you have no more need for them.
High Value Targets
Now that you have what it takes to breeze through stealing, here are a couple of high value targets you will steal from. The first 3 are Sect Specific, and each 60 lot mini worlds have at least 4 of them. Press M and see the locations with pretty colors as their borders, that's a sect border.
  • 1. Training Rooms : These has a Bookcase, containing more than a dozen books, and averages around 16000 coins in value. If you make a 60 lot map of each terrain, you should have at least 80-90% of all the books in game. 71 Skill Books + 37 Inner Kungfu Books.

  • 2. Halls : The one where the Sect Masters lounge or go to sleep. There are a few variations, but as a general rule of thumb, go from the front door and check if there is a Chest there. If not, go outside, and find the door to the bedchamber, usually to the left of the building. Sneak > Lockpick > Steal. These usually contain at least 1 type of books and several other useful items. DO NOT BREAK THE SCREEN INSIDE THE HALL! The one between the Throne and the Wooden Bed.

  • 3. Warehouses : Don't like punching rocks and trees? These has Grocery Cabinets that has around 100+ of the basic materials. Skip it if you can't carry them. They also store some weapons and clothes which you will definitely Decompose at the Furnace or Loom.

  • 4. Stables : Yes, stables, the one with the horse shoe symbol on the map. The one you can use to fast travel with. Why? Eggs, and meats, and whatever else it might have. Grinding for Monkey Wine and Feathers is bad enough, don't waste your time on eggs. Thankfully, they don't sell milk, or else you might need to start making buying a milk joke for this game.

  • 5. Taverns : Specifically, the Wine Shelf. It's the central storage of the inn, and each item you can buy on the tables are the items of the Wine Shelf + the storage of each table. Don't wanna waste time with the tables? Grab the Wine Shelf contents. Alcoholism does not pay for itself after all.
Wave Palm vs Sect
We have all seen the guide on "Wave Palm OP SUGOI DAISUKI". I did too. It's the I win button of the game. Until you get jumped by Jujutsu Kaisen protagonists, and you're the villain.
Remember me saying do not break the screen inside the Hall? DO NOT BREAK THE SCREEN INSIDE THE HALL! Now you remember.
I broke it as a shortcut instead of going outside and entering through the side door.
I then went outside, lo and behold, the entire cast of Jujutsu Kaisen is waiting to jump me outside.
Sure Wave Palm OP SUGOI DAISUKI works magic, even against the sect leader and elder, but if that's your only plan, you're going to have a paradigm shift.
At most, you can blow your load 3 times with Wave Palm at most before needing to end the fight.
1. is by Default
2. is by getting Chi of the Sun to Level 5 in your meridians. Don't bother with more since it's capped at 5.
3. is by getting True Method and ACTIVATING IT. And placing Wave Palm as the left most skill during a fight.

What I am trying to say is, here me out, this is going to blow your mind.
Train your regular moves, learn what counters what, and learn how to combo.
Amazing, I know right?

Suggestion on what is the best attack type? None, but if I were you, I'd pivot on something that does not get countered by 2 moves. Looking at you there Sword.
Keep Concealed Weapon as backup, since it has Art of Transformation (3 Palm 3 Concealed), which can transform all your moves to Concealed Weapon for that round.
Please also note that if you get countered so many times in a round, you won't be attacking, and instead get beaten up for the rest of the moves.

Or... you can always concede. A broken leg is only 500 coins at a local clinic. But personally breaking each and every one of their leg in a 1 on 1 fight, with Wave Palm, is not something I am endorsing. This is not a legal advice.
Hint : Power Leveling Move Usage Abilities
Leveling them in normal fights takes too long, and risky to boot.
You do know that if you chain 4 moves of the same type, you get a free 2 more of the same type?
So what if, say that you found an animal that is weak to a certain type of move?
And you just so happen to equip only 1 specific move type?
And you also equip Purple Chi from East hat? That which gives Moves per Turn +3?

You will be traumatizing yourself with whatever animal noise you are beating 22 times in one turn.
Hint : Forge or Weave Sage first?
Weave, all the way.

Why? Wave Palms. That's why.

Weave offers much more utility, and effects 3 slots instead of 2.

Specific builds are also very helpful in game.
Material Acquisition Efficiency (MAE) adds a flat number of items into the result of logging or mining.
Say you made a Legendary Vine Hat, Vine Gown, Vine Pants as a sage; with each of the bonus effect being the MAE. That's 18 items added per hit.
Say you hit a tree and supposed to get 5 logs/embers/bark/etc, it will become 23 gained.
The max I had experimented is +27. with the addition from an Iron Sabre (+6) and any concealed weapon (+3).
As starting capital, you will want Wild Grass, Ramie (Farming), Maple Bark. With each vine gear created, that's +6 to your MAE.
What you also want is as low damage as you can, so that you can hit trees and rocks longer, giving you much more resource. What was 20 Wood per tree is now 128 if you hit it 4 times.
This also simplifies getting rare resources.
Hint : Enemy Can't Counter You; But You Can
And it's called a Luna Sword
x50 Iron Chunks
x15 Copper Chunks
x10 Red Coppers

Best you can get at legendary is:
Numbers of Resists against Move Counters in fights +5
Numbers of Resists against Move Counters in fights +5

Gather materials for 20 of them, and save scum until you can get a 5+5 or 5+4 if you are impatient.

That's 10 counters not affecting you.
Be warned however that this still counts towards your opponent activating their skill.
Beware that if the enemy has 15 moves that counter yours, even the heavens can't save you, so use skills.
Hint : A Case for a 1 Lot Miniworld
Disadvantage?
  • You lose 1 miniworld slot for this.
  • Moving your resource to another lot is a pain.

Advantages?
  • It loads in 10-15 seconds max.
  • If you kill the 1st NPC, you will never have anyone bother your meditation, until you start bringing in your 2nd or 3rd character, or have a child.
  • If you start a new character with Blind & Broken Leg, you can ask your old character to heal you.
  • You can store all your Kungfu Books without any chance of misplacement. That's 71+37 books.
  • A central logistical hub where you can organize the massive amount of items you have hoarded. We're talking 40k weight.
  • You can transfer items between characters: Create a new char, give it a chest, place that chest somewhere accessible, have the new char return to karma. As long if nobody Claim the chest, it will belong to nobody, and everyone can access it.
  • You can transfer Fortune Jade with the above method, but instead of a chest, you use a Counter. This allows you to farm jade and treasure map from disposable characters.
"God will judge our enemies, We'll arrange the meeting"
"Hey Jesus, your 12 o’clock appointment has been bumped up to 10 AM"

So there are a few ways you can help someone [Returned to Karma].

If there are certain NPCs that went out of their way to annoy you.
They did not join the NPC meeting that says not to bother anyone named Chen BeiXuan or Chen Fan.
The first time, you shown mercy and help heal.
The second time you teach a lesson and break their leg.
The third time, even with a limp leg, they brought along people to jump you.
And yet you do not want to get entangled in Karma, and press the Execute button.

Again, this is not legal advice. But...
There are a ways that you can easily help them [Returned to Karma] without having your name attached to the receipt. They are, in no order of quality.
  • 1. Boulder Hamlet (Heat 2) : There is very tall ascend there, ending with a chest at the end, yes? No, don't drop them down. Instead, place them gently upon the Thorn, and just walk away. You'll be getting the result in less than 10 seconds.

  • 2. Lava Volcano (Heat 30) : This can be the first or the last lot you get, but now that you are aware, place it somewhere where people normally won't cross; somewhere secluded. Why? The place turns NPC into a Korean BBQ really fast. How fast? Well, if an NPC is dropped into anywhere within this lot, you'll start hearing some sizzling sound before getting a notification is less than 10 seconds. Might want to put a Spring just outside the region, just in case you need to heal yourself.

  • 3. Abyssal Ice Loch (Cold 30) : This is kinda meh, but still doable. It's a place where you can keep someone waking up for 5 seconds before fainting again. However, If you drop them from a high place into the lake, they will be swimming inside of it and fainting. Probably take several minutes before they finally succumb to freezing. Does not work with people that has Ice Inner and gears.

  • 4. What won't get them [Returned to Karma] is Miasma Ridge (Poison Gas 30). Not only does it only have a pair of Frogs, NPC will just shrug off the poison. However, as another guide highlights, Jade Sting, the Sage level Conceal Weapon, combined with Wave Palm is the real hidden gem of Poison Gas. How it works is that the weapon produces 5 poison gas per 100 damage dealt to the enemy. You can just Spar with them, and use Wave Palm to gift them hundreds if not thousands of Poison Gas. Since they died of Poison Gas, and not from the wound you gave them, the Karma does not have your name on the receipt. IMPORTANT, never equip Jade Sting unless you are certain you want some people [Returned to Karma]. You probably won't even have time to use Anti-Poison Plaster. This is probably the perfect method to say, "OMAE WA MOU SHINDEIRU", they won't reply with "NANI?" however.
Map Layout

Ways to "return to karma" does "pick up and throw into traps" work on the new version? If you knock out a negligent person and throw him into a trap, he returns to karma with the inscription "Killed by an unknown person"

found a goofy little way to get a head start. IF you die during the tutorial, while the tutorial guy is there, you can actually become their offspring for a HUGE buff to your basic stats, mostly in vigor.

Blood Refinement and other thorn skills also combine really well with the jade method, stinger, and that bamboo staff that gives health for every 50 damage dealt. I just have to throw a single punch each turn and watch my opponent beat themselves to death.

@FOXXOF ok, that's a good point.

I mean, I have managed to gather all the schools from wanderers/guards but it was a massive pain. Would have been easier if I'd known you could get other schools in other worlds
FOXXOF  [author] Feb 18, 2024 @ 12:55pm
@Bigfootmech : Not all of the 71+37 books spawn in the Great Wild, hence why you need to create 60 lot miniworlds.
@Pedrowmb : go to the discord, that question will have a follow up question.
Pedrowmb Feb 17, 2024 @ 10:11am
Hey, can you explain to me how it works when your character dies? And when you release the other saves.
Bigfootmech Feb 15, 2024 @ 1:58am
I have a question:
- 2. Plunder as much as you can from the miniworld to create a base in Slot 5

But for why though?

Animals, and materials all respawn.

On my main world, I recruited people to my sect, and keep going round their old shops every now and then to "pick up" the full 10k gold stacks from all the shop buildings as they're "sect-owned". No stealing required.

Then I sell any meridian-changing or qi-giving pills I don't need to the foreign ships for some extra cash if I need it.

ty for the tip about Chinese language though
