Mod Guide: Titanium Wars

Titanium Wars is by far the best Warhammer Mod I have ever seen, it's like an official expansion pack. This simple easy to follow guid will help you install and run Titanium Wars and get the best out of Soulstorm.

Getting Started

To Extract the mod you need WinRar, which is needed for just about everything so you probably already have it.

Installation is easy, you just extract the mod and place the folder in
\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dawn of War Soulstorm


When prompted to overwrite say yes.

Then place TWSShotfix_011a.exe in your Dawn of War Soulstorm folder and run it.


In game to run the mod, from the main menu screen select Game Manager, then select Titanium Wars and click Activate.

Getting it to run without CTD's

You need 4gb Ram to start.

If you have that it's actually very simple, don't be put off by the technical nature of this trick, it's very straight foward and can be used to improve a lot of old games.

First download the Ntcore Explorer Suite

With that installed, go to your
\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dawn of War Soulstorm
folder and right click Soulstorm.exe, then select Open with CFF Explorer


Then simply look on the left hand side under Nt Headers near the top click File Header
With File Header selected a small menu will open with on the right
Next to Characteristics select "Click Here" highlighted in blue.
In the menu that pops up, check App can handle >2gb address space


Then just click Ok, File, Save and overwrite

Now your game can run with modern memory capacity thus preventing CTD's past the 2gb threshold. You can use this trick with a lot of your old games to reduce crashes and use more demanding mods, and it's much safer than downloading modified executables.

Note

Sometimes Valve Steam will undo this change automatically, when it does simply re-enable the 2gb capacity in the soulstorm.exe. An easy way to access the installation folder is to simply Right Click it in your Steam library, click Properties, and select Local Files, then click Browse Local Files...



This can save you the headache of having to manually brows back to it on the odd occassions that Valve resets your exe.

Customizing Hotkeys

If you're like me you probably hate having your keybindings messed with, especially when it moves your attack move command from A to E.

If you want you can manually edit keydefaults.lua with notepad, however if you just want your old keybindings back and don't care about having special abilities on hotkeys, you can just copy keydefaults.lua from
\Dawn of War Soulstorm\Profiles\Profile1\dxp2
and paste it in
\Dawn of War Soulstorm\Profiles\Profile1\titaniumwars_ss

Titanium Wars is what I wish more from Dawn of War modding. A mod that never crashes, regardless how excessive the battles are or what campaign mission you play.

Ultimate Apocalypse and Unification mod are so bloated with overexcessive textures, SFX and mechanics that they are extremely unstable even if you follow all the steps for stability, reduced graphics, extended RAM etc.. The amount of battles crashing has become untolerable. I dont see the point in excessively improving textures and SFX when you have to reduce the graphics settings for stability anyway.

No; it's not. Because UA uses mechanics that were for the SS version of the engine.

Ultimate Apocalypse is the best Soulstorm mod. Titanium mod is good but not even close to UA. Titanium is designed for Dark Crusade anyways.

For Titanium wars wasn't really designed for Soulstorm, if you want to use TW, play Dark Crusade.

I had the same issue and the best fix is just searching for a guide that helps you find other people in multiplayer browser.
As long as you both have the same files, it should work just fine.
