1) Gather several 5.0 sized gas cans (>=5 or so, fortified houses give them for Fuel reward)
2) Fill all at a gas station, a car makes for easy transport
3) Travel with gas to farm, I use a park for easy watering
4) Start a fire and add all the gas, should create a long lived fire
The radiant heat of the fire makes it max temp over the whole map tile, including all your farm plots
TLDR: Make a big fire at your farm, it will heat the farm plots over freezing
Better chance for getting better fish (High satiety without skill/perks bonuses) such as a flounder = 50-ish satiety (cooked).
I don't know about fishing rods bonuses, but when i'm using the net fishing trap at the seaside, it give a 50% bonus on catch chances prior on adding baits.
