Back up
Manual back up would be recommended. Steam Cloud back up does not help when data corruption happens, because it will upload the corrupted data.

Game data location

Tekken 8's saved game data is at following location.

C:\Users\_your_user_name_\AppData\TEKKEN 8
or
%LOCALAPPDATA%\TEKKEN 8\

Folder size can be about 200MB.

You can manually back up the folder and restore when you need it. It is not guaranteed to restore data if game version is different.

Back up reference
Following guide is for SC6, but some info is same for Tekken 8.

Controller
XInput device

If your controller is XInput device, you can disable Steam Input. So it would be faster and less issues. T8 is supported XInput defvices as native support.

The fastest USB port
The fastest USB port would be on motherboard without USB hub.

Controller troubleshooting

Following is basic troubleshooting for controller issues.
1) Disconnect unused controllers for T8.
2) Disable Steam Input, if your device is XInput.
3) Connect USB port at back of PC (USB port on mother board)

Hitbox / Leverless

The leverless style is getting poplar and cheaper.

I personally use modefied MayFlash F300 Elite as below, but Haute42 Gamerfinger Hitbox seems decent for now.

Monitor
Multiple monitor

Better to use single monitor before launching game. It can be set up on Windows Display settings. You don't need to disconnect cable, which will wear out sooner or later.

Single monitor
Multiple monitor connection may cause issue.
Single monitor connection is more preferred.

You don't need to disconnect cable. Frequent cable connection may cause issue.

You can set up in Windows configuration.

Win 10: right click on desktop > Display settings > Show only one monitor

The fastest monitor settings
The fastest monitor settings would be following.
  • VSync OFF: It makes 1-2 frame faster to avoid buffering. It is about 16-32ms in 60fps. On the other setting, tripple buffering is slower than normal VSync buffering.
  • Low input lag monittor: Check on RTings.com
  • High frequency monitor and the setting: See below

The benefit on high frequency monitor would be following for average input delay and also less obious screen tearing.
  • 60Hz: Average 0.5 frame delay = about 8 ms
  • 120Hz: Average 0.25 frame delay = about 4 ms
  • 240Hz: Average 0.125 frame delay = about 2 ms
Network connection
LAN (Ethernet cable) connection is much preferred.
Avoid to use WiFi, 5G internet, phone tethering (not appreciated in especially in fighting games)

It is not about download or upload speed.
It is about stability of packet steam.

Speed test
Internet connection speed test can done by following site:

https://www.speedtest.net/
or on Google search "speed test"

Aware 100Mbps limitation

Even with LAN connection, your network connection may have only 100Mbps.

It could be following 3 reasons.

1) Internet connection speed
It is from your contract with your internet provider.

2) Bottleneck from router or switch
Some of the device has old standard as limited 100Mbps.

2) Poor quality LAN cable or CAT5 cable
CAT5 connection is limited 100Mbps.
Poor quality cable may get recognized as CAT5 from router and/or switch.

Issue case

Case 1) I purchased CAT7 cable (it is also printed on cable), but it got only CAT5 speed.

Case 2) I have one long LAN cable (about 25 feet), it connect 1000Mbps connection at beginning. But after 2-5 days, it drops to 100Mbps connection. If I unplug and plug again, it reset to 1000Mbps connection

Aware NAT type

How to check:
On Windows 10, go to Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking

It's about how your PC is connected to internet.

In general:
OK: Internet - modem - PC
OK: Internet - modem - router - PC
NG: Internet - modem - router - router - PC

I found following guide has good info.

Global IP address

It's IP address to your computer / network from internet side.

In some case, it may be blocked by certain services.
I have got blocked some phone game and Playstation network a couple times.

Following is steps to change your global IP address
1) Check current global IP address
ex) http://www.myglobalip.com/
2) Go to your network router setting and change MAC address
3) Restart modem and router (Turn off both. Turn on router. Wait 5min and turn on modem.)
4) Check global IP address again using 1)'s site
Ask help Bandai Namco support
If you try some troubleshooting, but still does not work.
It's better to ask Bandai Namco support.

https://support.bandainamcoent.com/
Note: you need to make an account to use the support.
Beyond Basic
Mods
Make sure to disable sending user data to Bandai Namco before using mods.

But not sure if mods or other tool cause ban, so take responsibility by yourself.

Personal recommendation:

Mod install folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TEKKEN 8\Polaris\Content\Paks\LogicMods
