WARNING: DO NOT play the game in story mode, as it disables most (if not all) achievements.

You can always check your progress for the achievements that require multiple events (Ladders and Stepladders, Mr. Charley, etc.) via the Accolades menu.

I made the guide for the Great Ace Attorney duology, and was bored enough to make this one as well! Please leave a positive rating and/or favorite on the guide if it helped you. I will not be making a step-by-step guide for these games, however I will provide relevant information for achievements.

I give all permission to translate/repost this guide as long as I am credited in the guide details/intro, via a link to my Steam profile.
Step-by-Step Guides
These are not mine and do not include relevant actions for achievements. However, if you want a full step-by-step guide for any of the games these are the top rated ones I could find. I did not test them myself but they should work perfectly fine.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney[gamefaqs.gamespot.com]
Dual Destinies[gamefaqs.gamespot.com]
Spirit of Justice[gamefaqs.gamespot.com]
Miscellaneous
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney - Awarded upon receiving all 31 other achievements.

Opening Objection - Present evidence during your first cross-examination. Essentially storyline, will happen within moments of gaining control for the first time.

Stylish Threads - Play the game in a costume. Possible during Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice, by selecting any costume in the game select screen. I believe this unlocks as soon as you load into the game with a costume selected.
Storyline
These achievements are simply for playing through each episode from start to finish (individually), nothing special needs to be done for these.

Note: All achievements below this in the guide are missable, minus I believe the Forensics Expert achievement. However, you can use chapter select to get any that you miss.

Episode 2
Mr. Charley (1/8) - Examine the plant in the Wright Talent Agency on Day 1. Can be done as soon as you gain control.

Ladders and Stepladders (1/7) - The first ladder can be found at Meraktis Clinic - Garage. You can first move there on Day 1, after talking to Guy Eldoon at his house.

Forensics Expert (1/8) - You will perform a fingerprint analysis on Day 1 when inspecting the knife at the murder scene.

Mr. Charley (2/8) - Examine the plant in the Wright Anything Agency on Day 2. Can be done as soon as you gain control after the trial.

Forensics Expert (2/8) - You will perform a footprint analysis on Day 2 when you return to the murder scene.

Episode 3
Trucy's Woes (1/2) - Listen to Trucy talk about buying some Gavinners merch. Will come naturally before you even gain control at the beginning of the episode.

Ladders and Stepladders (2/7) - On Day 1, examine the ladder in Lamiroir's Dressing Room. You will be able to do this after obtaining the Investigation Request very early on Day 1.

Ladders and Stepladders (3/7) - On Day 1, examine the ladder on the Stage. You will be able to do this after obtaining the Investigation Request very early on Day 1.

Forensics Expert (3/8) - You will automatically perform a luminol test during the trial on Day 2.

Mr. Charley (3/8) - Examine the plant in the Wright Anything Agency on Day 2. Can be done as soon as you gain control after the trial.

Trucy's Woes (2/2) - On day 2, during the investigation phase, when you enter Lamiroir's Dressing Room, inspect the speaker above the door to listen to Trucy talk about her allowance.

Episode 4
Mr. Charley (4/8) - Examine the plant in the Wright Anything Agency on Day 1. Can be done as soon as you gain control.

Forensics Expert (4/8) - The poison detection can be done after inspecting/presenting the mug and talking to Ema about "Forensic Science", very early in the episode.

Forensics Expert (5/8) - You will perform an x-ray analysis right around the same time as the poison detection, this time on the red envelope.

Mr. Charley (5/8) - As soon as you enter the MASON System, move to the Wright & Co. Law Offices in the past. Charley is waiting for you to examine him.

One Jurist's Verdict - As the jurist in Episode 4, choose "Guilty". This will give you the "bad ending", which won't unlock the achievement for completing the episode. However, the game will autosave for you right before the final choice, so I recommend doing this achievement first, then reloading and doing the "good ending".
Dual Destinies
Episode 2
Ladders and Stepladders (4/7) - On Day 2 of the investigation, examine the air vent in the Fox Chamber. Examining the vent on Day 1 will not count, and Athena saying she brought a stepladder at the beginning of Day 2 also does not count. You can do this after Fulbright leaves the chamber.
Episode 3
School Days - You need to present Phoenix with either the Themis Herald or the Themis Herald Extra during this episode. You'll find the Extra at the crime scene, and will be able to talk about it after reenacting the mock trial, when you move into the Hallway and have a short conversation with Phoenix and Aristotle.
Episode 4
The Problem with Love - When in Detective Fulbright's psyche-lock, answer "Love". You'll be able to do this when presenting the magatama during the investigation phase. The correct answer to the question is "Justice", but make sure to get the achievement first.
Episode 5
A Man of Many Hats (1/4) - Talk with Trucy about "What to do". There are multiple opportunities to do this, but it can also just be done at the very beginning of the episode at the Wright Anything Agency.

Special Episode
A Man of Many Hats (2/4) - Once allowed to examine the crime scene, inspect the defendant and you will be given a whistle in your Court Record. Then, simply present Apollo with the whistle in the Wright Anything Agency.

A Man of Many Hats (3/4) - After talking with Marlon Rimes about "Rifle" in the Aqua Tunnel, you will be given a fish in your Court Record. Then, simply present Apollo with the fish in the Wright Anything Agency.

Birds on the Brain - Press DePlume on her very first statement of the trial portion, "I went to Shipshape Aquarium to see the killer whale". You will hear Blackquill give his opinion on what he believes should be the featured attraction of the aquarium.

Forensics Expert (6/8) - You will perform a luminol test during this episode on Day 2 of the investigation, when at the bottom of the pool.
Spirit of Justice
Episode 2
Mr. Charley (6/8) - Examine the plant in the Wright Anything Agency on Day 1. Can be done very early on after the suspect is arrested.

Foot, Meet Mouth - After finding Trucy's Notebook in the Dressing Room, make sure to present it to Athena before returning it to Trucy. Will be found early in the investigation phase on Day 1.

Forensics Expert (7/8) - You will perform a fingerprint analysis while you are investigating the crime scene early in the episode.

Betty's Life Choices - When in revisualization near the end of the episode (where you make a handful of deductions to flip the case on its head, with the red line and blue background), choose "Her life choices" for the second question. There are no repercussions for choosing this option, which is incorrect.
Episode 3
Ladders and Stepladders (5/7) - Talk with Maya about "one more thing" in the Detention Center on Day 1. Mentioned towards the end of the prompt.

A Rebellious Recipe - When in the Rebel Hideout, examine Dhurke's written order (the map- on the center of your screen) twice. Note that the location where you talk to Datz Are'bal is not the hideout.

Forensics Expert (8/8) - You will perform a luminol test while you are at the Rebel Hideout. Make sure to get the previous achievement before this one, just in case.

Episode 5
Mr. Charley (7/8) - Examine the plant in the Wright Anything Agency on Day 1. Can be done as soon as you gain control.

Ladders and Stepladders (6/7) - Examine the golden airplane in Dr. Buff's study. Can be done as soon as you finish talking to Ema and she allows you to look around.

Forensics Expert (7/8) Note - If you already played Episode 2 and did the fingerprint analysis there, you can ignore this. - Perform a fingerprint analysis during Episode 5. Will be done while investigating a mysterious suitcase.

A Man of Many Hats (4/4) - Talk with Sarge in Dr. Buff's study. You will do this right after looking for Datz's passport.

Always on the Defensive - After talking to Edgeworth on Day 2 in Khura'in, move to the Royal Residence and inspect the urn on the bottom right. Must be done as Apollo.

Forensics Expert (8/8) Note - If you already played Episode 3 and did the luminol test there, you can ignore this. - You will perform a luminol test while inspecting the crime scene on Day 2.

Special Episode
Mr. Charley (8/8) - Examine the plant in the Wright Anything Agency on Day 1. Can be done as soon as you gain control after you meet an old friend.

Ladders and Stepladders (7/7) - Examine the broken lantern in the Reception Hall. You can move there after meeting up with yet another old friend.

More clarification on this: the School Days achievement can be obtained during the initial crime scene investigation. After investigating the body, you'll move to the area with the Themis Herald. Examine it first, then immediately exit out of Examine mode and present it to Phoenix. You'll have the discussion and the achievement will pop.

fixed, i think

Correction! You can get the School Days achievement by just presenting Themis Herald (without getting the Extra after the chance to talk to him) in Dual Destinies.

iirc, the conversation they have after you inspect it is formatted in a way that references the reoccurring "ladders vs stepladders" joke in the series

What does the golden airplane have to do with ladders?
Vnednek  [author] Mar 4 @ 4:03pm
good note, i should've noted that you should do it asap, adjusted the achievement definition thank you

Very helpful guide!! If there is one small change I would make, In Spirits of Justice Case 5 'Always on the Defensive', it may be worth mentioning that you need to do this as Apollo. Because Day 2 has you playing as both protags, and both starting their sections talking to Edgeworth it makes it a little vague who you're meant to do that as.
Vnednek  [author] Mar 2 @ 9:35am
you can stop/save and come back to that save later, but starting from the chapter select or using story mode will disable the storyline achievements yes
