Welcome to the Dell'Arte Della Guerra : Wars of the Roses Steam guide.

This is a historically accurate modification set in the British isles during the 15th century Wars of Roses.

This short guide is intended to highlight the features , plans and information regarding our upcoming total conversion mod for Mount and blade Bannerlord. This will serve to raise awareness in the steam community and highlight the upcoming mod to those who have yet to hear about it or check out the main mod page with more detail and information on Moddb below.

Setting the scene: England 1471

14th March 1471

King Edward IV the ousted Yorkist leader has landed at Ravensur to reclaim his throne. Supported by his loyal brother Richard of Gloucester and diehard Yorkist nobles like Sir William Hastings and Sir Anthony Woodville, the England he sets foot in is not what she once was. Sixteen years of bloody civil war have ravaged this once wealthy and prosperous kingdom. The houses of Lancaster and York have struggled for control over the throne of England shedding the blood of thousands in the process. Mighty Noble families have risen and fallen and ambitious magnates have filled the vacuum. As this Yorkist king returns to his realm after exile abroad his powerful cousin and until recently lifelong supporter Richard Neville Earl of Warwick is mustering forces to face him in the name of King Henry VI. Supported by his brother John Neville marquess of Montagu and Edwards own brother George Duke of Clarence Warwick knows the coming battle will only end in victory or death. Warwicks dislike of Edwards' choice of queen and her Woodville family along with his loss of power and position at court have led him to risk everything and turn against his lifelong friend and apprentice. Yet even as he is gathering his forces in the midlands his ally Margaret of Anjou wife to King Henry with her own Lancastrian force is awaiting fair weather in France to set sail for England in support of Warwick. With loyal captains like Edmund Duke of Somerset and the Earl of Devon raising troops for her in the West Country the odds are stacked against King Edward. Yet these are unpredictable times as treachery strikes from all corners with support being bought and sold and personal feuds being settled on the field of battle. England is a patchwork of noble houses aligned to the Yorkist or Lancastrian cause with others uncommitted and hedging their bets or jostling for rewards. Others have stood loyal to their cause during the previous sixteen years of war losing fathers, brothers and sons in the process. Even now with great events about to unfold deciding the fate of England, crime is rife with minor nobles seizing the chance to raid their neighbor’s lands or kill old rivals while the Scottish raid over the border and outlaws prey on the vulnerable. Supported by private armies of loyal retainer’s magnates all over the kingdom are once more raising their banners of war for personal gain and power. The hapless King Henry VI may sit on the throne for now after being released from the tower by Warwick but the true hope of Lancaster sits with his son the young prince Edward who will soon see his first taste of combat. All will be settled in the horror of battle, Arrows will fly, and the smoke of cannon and handgun shall cover the field and through it will march the armored knight of the 15th century. Destiny calls for ambitious adventurers and mercenaries alike, will you heed the call of Warwick the Kingmaker or make your stand with King Edward IV?

This is a work in progress and we are constantly adding new mechanics and assets as we develop this so this list will be expanded in the future.

how this mod doing ? not alot of updates from many of the major MNBBL mods have'n't gotten an update so I just wanted to check in on this one since it's probably my favorite

Shields will be in the mod for the player and certain troops. But not on the scale of previous centuries in medieval warfare. At this time in 15th century England the main weapons were two handed polearms and bows, the mod will reflect this type of warfare. Armour was advanced enough to not need a shield.. and trying to use one with a two handed weapon is tricky. :)

I see a lack of shields would there be the same amount of units with shields as units while 2 handed. This kind of gets me nervous
