Metal Slug XX 100% Achievements Guide

This is a quick guide of how to get all achievements in Metal Slug XX

Introduction

Metal Slug XX has many easy achievements but also has hard ones that will test your skill in Metal Slug. In this guide i will show the fastest and easiest way to get these achievements.

The guide will be splitted up in 4 sections

1. Mission Achievements

2. Collectibles Achievements

Mission Achievements

THE USUAL SUSPECTS
Clear a mission with all Regular Army members


THE ROAD TO VICTORY
Clear a mission with all Ikari members


Complete any mission with every character to get both achievements

SPEEDSTER: BEGINNER
Reach Rank 1st RECORD TIME on BEGINNER difficulty. Must play through all stages without quitting game.

SPEEDSTER: NORMAL
Reach Rank 1st RECORD TIME on NORMAL difficulty. Must play through all stages without quitting game.

SPEEDSTER: HARD
Reach Rank 1st RECORD TIME on HARD difficulty. Must play through all stages without quitting game.

MISSION COMPLETE!
Finish the game on Difficulty HARD


Simply beat the game in all difficulties for these achievements (Speedster is easy because
there is no one else in the leaderboard)
RUNNING AND GUNNING
Clear the game within 45 minutes. Must play through all stages without quitting game


This one may look hard but it isn't. Select begginer difficulty and run through the levels as fast as you can

NO BEARD LEFT BEHIND
Free all POWs in any mission

ROAMING RUMI
Rescue Rumi Aikawa


Rumi Aikawa will be on Mission 4 right after you destroy the red helicopter

METHODICAL SHARPSHOOTING
Defeat The Union (Mission 5's boss) 's parts in a specific order


Destroy The Union in this order: 1-3-2










NOT HALF BAD!
Defeat Rebel Gigant (Mission 6's boss) with at least half life


Defeat the boss while having half or more health, note that if you get less than a half you can let the boss kill you so that it resets your health, doing this will still give the achievement

BORN TO RIDE
Get in all Slug vehicles


You can get this achievement on your first playthrough, all of them will be on your path (the last one being the giant at mission 6)

ALL PATHS LESS TRAVELED
Clear all 3 hidden paths


The first hidden path is in mission 1, below the tank with the explosive










The 2 other paths being on mission five, at the end of the parachute section, to the left
One path is going down the elevator, the other is by jumping over the elevator and going left

Collectibles Achievements

FALLING FOR CRATES
Trigger the 100 Morden Soldiers encounter in Mission 2


Load mission 2 in begginer difficulty










Reach this area and destroy the crate on the right side of the area (behind the soldier with the shield), DO NOT KILL ANY SOLDIER WHILE DOING THIS OR THE EVENT WONT TRIGGER
When the crate gets destroyed another one will fall on top of the megaphone soldier








Destroy it to trigger the event, if everything is done correctly a Two Machine Gun will fall from above

WHICH CAME FIRST, THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG?
Let a chicken hatch, grow, lay an egg and see a new chick hatch


In mission 2 at the start of the level break the crate that falls on the left side









It will drop an egg, let it hatch and wait until it grows and lays another egg

WHAT A ROCK!
Get the rare gem item


Load into mission 2, after destroying the first tank shoot in the first light and it will drop a gem (this achievement seems to be a bit broken on Steam, as some people got it from secret gems of other stages, i got the achievement at mission 7)

OLD BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
Find the Old Man


Load mission 3 in begginer difficulty, keep going through the level normally until you reach two hanging prisioners, the prisioner on the right will give you the old man










THIS DOLL IS MINE!
Collect the doll item


Still in mission 3, reach the area with the platform that goes up. In the way 2 prisioners will fall from above, the second one will give you the doll

ALIENS LIKE LASERS, RIGHT?
Shoot down 20 UFOs with the Laser beam


Load mission 5 on begginer difficulty and take the secret elevator path. Down there wait until you reach the area with the high tanks, destroy the first one and it will drop the Laser Gun. Then continue the mission normally using the Laser Gun only in the UFOs (recommended to use Ralf or Leona for this achievement)

POCKET CHANGE
Collect 500 coins


You can get this faster by repeating the 100 soldiers event in mission 2

Character Achievements

ON YOUR MARC-O
Shoot down 30 enemies with Marco's Special Punch Action


SUPER ARGENTINE BACKBREAKER
Throw 30 enemies with Clark's Special Action


MEMPHIS BOMB PRINCESS
As Eri, kill 10 enemy soldiers at the same time with grenades


You can easily get these 3 achievements with the 100 soldiers event in mission 2

MOON SLASHER
Nullify 100 enemy projectiles with Leona Heidern's Special Actionullify


Load into mission 1 in normal difficulty, at the start of the level use the special ability in the projectiles of the soldier with the shield and the cannon










----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HERE COMES HYAKUTARO!
Defeat 10 enemies with POW Hyakutaro's energy balls


Load into mission 4 in begginer difficulty, start by going down and when the camera moves Hyakutaro will spawn on top of the screen, free him and wait for him to climb down. Once he reaches you let him kill every enemy ahead until you get the achievement

NOT THE FIXER UPPER
Destroy 5 vehicles with Tarma's Special Action


Load into mission 7, at the start of the level there will be a Tank, use Tarma's ability until it explodes, repeat it 5 times.

VULCAN PUNCH
Destroy 30 vehicles with Ralf's Special Action


Load into mission 6 in begginer difficulty, at the start of the level there will be 2 cars, destroy them with Ralf's vulcan punch. IF YOU SHOOT ONCE AT THE VEHICLES IT WONT COUNT!










BRINGING A SWORD TO A GUNFIGHT
Defeat 40 future soldiers with the Zantetsu sword


Still on mission 6, reach the area of the mountain and the first prisioner you free will give you the Zantetsu sword, kill 40 future soldiers with it (you might need to restart the level for this one because there probably wont be enough ammo for 40 soldiers in one run)

Combat School Achievements

Now here is where things get hard, combat school is a section of many challenges, some are easy, some are hard.
Quick explanation of each category:

Survival

- Try to complete the game in one go, you die once you restart everything

Target Elimination

- Complete the whole stage.
A = 3 Lifes, Infinite Ammo
B = 1 Life, Infinite Ammo
C = 1 Life, Handgun Only

Pow Rescue

- Free as many prisioners as you can until the end of the stage.

Base Assault

- Boss Fight.
A = 3 Lifes, Infinite Ammo
B = 1 Life, Infinite Ammo
C = 1 Life, Handgun Only

Special Training

- Several different minigames.

METAL SLUG SURVIVE
Play the Combat School survival mission


Simply play Survival once
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TARGETS ELIMINATED!
Clear all Target Elimination missions with Rank A or above.


THANK YOU
Clear all POW Rescue missions with Rank A or above.


TRAINED ESPECIALLY WELL
Clear all Special Training missions with Rank A or above.


ALL YOUR BASE
Clear all Base Assault missions with Rank A or above.


These 4 Achievements are the ones that will take most of your time.

Pow Rescue are the easiest ones.
Special Training aren't that hard, although there are some annoying ones
Base Assault you just have to remember the boss attack patterns so you can easily defeat them
Target Elimination C are the hard ones, since you need to complete the level without dying.
