Why
Capcom has decided not to fix the GFWL thing for whatever reason, and it remains unlisted. I love this game, so for those of you with a key, this is the bare minimum to get her running.

This was working on Windows 11 in January 2024, but I have done the same thing to Windows 10 so I would expect it still works there as well.
Installing a working version of GFWL
Download the GFWL files, run in this order and click through the installers:
xliveredist.msi
gfwlclient.msi
gfwlivesetup.exe
Dont bother with wllogin_32.msi and wllogin_64.msi. We wont need those
High Core CPU Fix
Try opening the game. If your cpu has 6 or fewer cores you will likely be presented with the title screen. If you are not:

if game opens to a black screen, and ~maxes cpu - download the High Core CPU Fix DLL and put dinput8.dll in the same folder as the game where LP2DX11.exe and the other executables are located.

Now that we have the game open...
Logging into GFWL
Now that you can see the developer splashes and menu screen, its time to get GFWL working.

Right click the game in steam and obtain your CD key. We are going to need it in a moment.

Open the game and proceed until you are prompted to login to windows live. Hopefully you have the info for the account your CD key was used on, if you already redeemed it.

When you login the first time, you will get asked for a CD key, then you will sit at either a "please wait" or "downloading profile" screen. Once you are there, leave it alone and don't tab out or ♥♥♥♥ with your computer too much. Keep in mind this can take A WHILE, and the time differs for everyone. For most it is between 2-10 mins.

Eventually it will decide that GFWL needs to update and ask you to close the game.

Close the game, and click finish on the GFWL installer window that is probably open.

Reopen the game and login again. This time it will try and download your profile, and this will take a long time. Leave it alone while it does this. Thankfully you only need it to download your profile once.

When that finishes you will be asked to create a new save file, and that is it!
You now have a functioning copy of Lost Planet 2, and for the moment that includes working multiplayer.
Potential Issues
game doesn't open at all - Try uninstalling all versions of GFWL from programs and features, reboot, then reinstall from the PC Gaming Wiki link.

game opens, you see window, and it crashes - Try messing with compatibility mode on the launcher itself. Windows 7 works for some people. I am not sure why, but compatibility mode can also cause issues, so you shouldn't turn it on by default.

i don't have access to the account i redeemed the key on - try verifying the game's cache. you may be given a new cd key to use. if that does not work, you either need to gain access to your account or contact capcom support.

@Shroober-1 you might be able to get a key replacement from Capcom support. Some people have had success doing that.

I heard some rumor that Capcom was attempting to strip GFWL out of their games. They were pushing some updates a few months ago to update some steam data for LP2, which would imply that they intend to relist it on the store at some point. Would be nice if they could finish that soon lol

Guess I'm gonna have to buy a new copy because it says my CD key is invalid, even thought it's the same account I used it on years ago.

Hi, can you guys explain to me how you fixed the connection error? I'm not really getting what you mean by making an offline account but also having a Microsoft account already signed into the pc?

Also, I don't know how to bring up the GFWL menu as I don't have an Xbox controller so can somebody explain how to do that too? Because of that I don't know how to access Xbox live.

Sorry if these seem like dumb questions. I'm quite new to this and I'm really lost.

Worked for me, thanks!

@Mazt Managed to find a way to fix it, you'll need to make an Offline Account.

Quite a few short videos on how to do it, but the main thing is that you want to make sure you have a Microsoft account already signed into on the PC.

Anyways, make the Offline Account, then once loaded into the game you'll need to bring up the GFWL Menu (Idk how to do that but when using a Controller I just pressed Xbox Button.

Once brought up, select the option to connect to Xbox Live, then it will run you through the same thing again, however this time it should bring up a Windows Explorer Webpage.

All you need to do is log into your Microsoft Account in this webpage and then once that's done, return to the game.

Attempt to log in again, the game should say that GFWL needs and Update and then just close the game down, find the newly opened WIndow for GFWL and Update.

Viola! All done and ready to play!

Sorry if this isn't that informative, doing my best while going off of memory.

My friend is having the same issue as The Narrator, was any solution ever found?
The_Narrator____ 2 avr. 2024 à 10h35
Hi, just bought a code and was using your guide but came across a problem idk how to solve.

I've gotten to the present CD Key Code after the Login Screen, the game waits a few moments before saying it'll start downloading. The bar barely moves before suddenly telling me that an error occurred with the Login Info and that it's a connectivity issue.

Checking the error message does nothing and clicking on try again sends me into the game with a message saying that if I don't log into my account then the game won't save any data.

I've followed the guide to the letter up to this point with no problems before this.

Note: I have tried logging into my Account on the Microsoft Website and tried as well but still the same issue.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
