How to 100% epic mickey 2

Yes, 12 years after the game released, a full guide.

What to remember

The requirements for 100 percenting the game in this guide are based on the requirements that a 100% speedrun requires. You can just skip things like the concept art and Kip if you don't care about them. This includes every achievement, every pin, every concept art and helping out gremlin Kip. No, I did not put everything on this guide directly, I simply do not have the time to do that, I did however create tons of lists on the epic mickey wiki and I made a full video guide to 100 percenting the game. Ok so now to the actual 100 percenting, remember epic mickey 2 is very fragile, one mistake can jeopardize the entire run so follow my steps carefully. This will be painful if you don't know what you are doing! I am trying to make it less painful. Also if you are coming from epic mickey 1 or rebrushed, reminder that epic mickey 2 does not have a newgame+ system, meaning you have to get everything in one run (except one of the achievements). I also recommend running through the game once without worrying about collecting anything just so you have an idea of what the game is like and how the mechanics work.

Perfectionist (Quests)

Your top priority is to finish every single quest. Quests can easily be shut off if you don't follow them properly, only one path needs to be filled even if its the thinner path it will count as finishing. The only quest with an expiry is the Wasteland Limited (the trains), and Donald's date which fails after leaving Bog Easy after talking to him. Take your time on the quests, they won't expire if you just leave them behind. Do not switch which side of the quest you are doing mid way this will not give you any reward! If you do not know a certain quest search it up on the wiki! In my opinion this is the best way to maximise benefits when doing quests:

The Wasteland Limited - Repair all train stations ASAP, entering an area with a train station will initiate its deterioration, be careful not to let it get destroyed

• Mean Street South - Talk to the conductor behind where Mickey spawns first, buy the watch sketch from the emporium, stand on the pile of suitcases. When Oswald arrives and has the prompt place down the watch sketch and throw oswald up, he will fix the clock allowing the train station to work again
  
• OsTown - Put the fairy sketch on the train station (building surrounded by tracks), then paint the entire thing in so the walls stay extended, talk to the train conductor once done
  
• Bog Easy - You will have to return later on to do this one, use the TV sketch from the shanty shop, place it in front of the train station so the train conductor is attracted to it and tries walking up to it to watch the TV. Keep doing this until he gets close enough to the train station and enters (train station has the oswald and tracks). Then to start up the power have oswald shock the electrode next to the station, once the doors on the blue stand open place the tv sketch on it to power it. Talk to the train conductor.
  
• Ventureland - Buy an anvil sketch and place it over the toppled roof to destroy it. That's it! Talk to the train conductor.

Watch the Skies - Does not matter, Copernicus gives Blank pins and Laralee gives scrap metal
One Toon's Trash - THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE ASAP, Do not finish Rebuilding Autotopia or Clothes make the spatter until this quest is done, Costumes and tires are very important items to sell. Check the money section below for my list of items you should sell.
Finding the Hidden Heroes - Do Oswald to match with the statue in OsTown
The Spirit of Wasteland - Does not matter
Operation Gremlin Drop - Does not matter, do this before repairing the metal structures as you will get a discount as a reward for this quest
The Encyclopedia Wastelandica - Does not matter
Creative Threedom - Does not matter, there is a violin at the bottom of OsTown for the Goofy's fountain mishap quest
Thanks for the Memories - Do Rigger Greene's path, it will reward with a lot of pins. Take photos and every time he asks if he should go there say NO until you give him the photo of Autotopia. He will go to every location you took photos at and sell you a pin. Locations are on the wiki page.
Horace's Assistant Assistance - Does not matter. Thinning out scurvy pat is the thinner path, the quest can only be turned into Barnacle Jones if scurvy pat is thinned and giving it to horace will lock the quest. Instead talk to Scurvy, take a photo of him holding the compass (camera should turn green) and talk to scurvy again, if you want to do thinner path give it to barnacle jones. If you want to do paint path give it to horace and finish clothes makes the spatter then give clarabelle's note to horace and that should complete the quest.
The Other Side of the Screen - Does not matter
The Bunny Wranglers - Does not matter
Goofy's Fountain Mishap - Build Oswalds statue for the heads up achievement and heroes of wasteland achievement
Donald's Date - Destroy the ship by giving the fake gear to sparks
A Friend in Deed - Do Metairie's path for the achievement
Out of Toon - Does not matter
Clothes Make the Spatter - Do clarabelles side and talk to Ian, sell the clothes for ians side unless you do not need the money or have already completed one toons trash. (Doing Ian's side will pacify the spatters in blot alley, but is not required to finish the quest.) Reminder! Ian will not talk to you if you thin the spatters during the fort wasteland fight, same with doloris they all have to survive the fight. If you thin the spatters and slobber it will close off the projector and Ian will not talk to you making it impossible to do his side of the quest and then you cant buy the 4 costumes needed for one toons trash. The projector will be closed permanently, the DEC will not be!
A Captain's Life for Me - Does not matter
Much Ado About Blotlings - Does not matter
Rebuilding Autotopia - Does not matter

Pins! Glorious pins!

Here is the list on the wiki for all the pins in the game fact checked by me, I am still researching when every pin is available in black bags.

During your run make sure you pick up all the pins you can, avoid the thinner path at most turns, look for blank pins. You will be passing through a couple of the D.E.C. make sure to clear them they usually have a lot of blank pins. If you need extra pins the steamboat willie costume will give the ability to find a blank Gold pin in each projector, locations are on the individual projector wiki pages.

Here are a couple notes about individual pins:
Do not steal the black pearl.
Do Rigger Greene's path of thanks for the memories.

• Booty to the Head - Requires doing beluga billy's side of the captains life for me quest, once you finish the quest the pirate sleeping in Hook's quarters leaves allowing mickey access to the pin. This pin is available in black bag if you do damien salt's quest.
  
• Spatter Whisperer - Paint all spatters in blot alley, it is possible to get it without painting every single one, but Ian is picky and painting them all in guarantees the pin. Also the pin can be purchased at the pin trader if you mess up, but that isnt always reliable.

But I need money!

You can get a ton of e-tickets from selling items you don't need for the one toons trash quest, you don't need to do Ian's side of the clothing makes the spatters quest, if your struggling to get money just sell the clothing for his side. Here is the full list of sellable items, do not sell the watch the skies items! Don't forget to pick up the melting ice cream before fixing the ice cream shop!!!

The discount coupons are rewards for giving the flower costumes to clarabelle, you have to give her the costume found in fort wasteland to give her the rest.

This should be 20 items, if you run into trouble and dont reach 20 you can also sell the car tires, there are four of them in Autotopia.

All Concept art

All locations are on the wiki, most have to be purchased which means no pissing off Tiki sam by stealing the pearl. Also you have to appease Gilbert the ghost in the graveyard and destroy donald's boat by giving sparks the fake gear. Keep the real gear for the one toon's trash quest! We have to appease Gilbert because he is the shop owner of the bat en rouge in old town and if you don't prank sparks Gilbert will not sell you the concept art.

Achievements

Most of the achievements are pretty simple, double check with the list below if you need to.

All Achievements with tips:

• When You Wish Upon a Star Paint all the stars and comets in the brush realm
  
• Apprentice Pin Collector Collect 1 pin (You will get this at some point in the run)
  
• Lab tested Exit Yen Sid's lab
  
• Devoted Pin Collector Collect 88 pins (See pin section of guide for more info)
  
• Master Pin Collector Collect all 176 pins (See pin section of guide for more info)
  
• Dragon Defeat Received for defeating the dragon, can be done either by painting in his armour or thinning out the support beams (second phase).
  
• Dress-up Change into a costume at the Hat shop
  
• Fall from grace Enter from the projector into Rainbow Caverns, fly down to devil side and exit out a D.E.C.
  
• Fortified Exit Fort Wasteland
  
• Full-court prescott Exit the Floatyard
  
• Get with the program Have oswald reprogram a beetleworx, if playing with the AI it will usually prompt with the hopper in the OsTown underground
  
• Go with the flow Drain the thinner in OsTown (prescott or goofy side)
  
• Hard hat area Exit ventureland to Autotopia
  
• Heroes of Wasteland Pay the gremlin in OsTown's gag factory to upgrade the statue, it takes time to build, leave and come back (requires finishing goofy's quest first and waiting for it to be built)
  
• Not so sleepy hollow Reveal all knothole surprises in bog easy, there are 6 in total.
  
  1. In Old Town (Area 1). It can be revealed by thinning out a tree near the right side of the dock (near the Beetleworx Replicator).
     
  2. In Area 2. You can find it by thinning a tree to the right of the Jug Band.
     The last 4 Knothole Surprises are near the Cemetery in Area 3.
     
  3. Found by thinning a mound of dirt to the right of the gate (when facing the gate from the inside of the Cemetery).
     
  4. Found by thinning out a stone plaque located on the steel fence, to the right of where Sparks' Gear is found.
     
  5. Revealed by thinning out a tree located to the left of the large closing door (with the Bunny Hat inside).
     
  6. Revealed by thinning out a tree located to the right of the same closing door.
• Perfectionist Complete all 20 quests
  
• Picture Perfect Give Metairie the deed to the house in the A friend in deed quest and take photos of all 3 locations she wants, 1. the eye in the floatyard, 2. sleeping bear in Fort Wasteland, 3. Gilda in Autotopia
  
• Projector Corrector Repair/Destroy the rainbow falls substation
  
• Race the Autotopia Speedway Do a race in Autotopia (unlocks after finishing the quest)
  
• Rogues Gallery Take a photo of every enemy
  
• Things are worxing out Enter the projector for Blot Alley
  
• Running the Gauntlet Get to club 13
  
• Blot Alley Superstar When going through Blot Alley make sure you paint every spatter before it rings a bell or explodes. This will reward you with a pin. Same with the blotworx at club 13, they need to be befriended and make sure they don't kill each other. If anything goes wrong exit and continue game to restart from your last save. You will not finish Blot Alley in your first try!
  
• Siphon...Siphoff... Deal with all the siphons
  
• Staff Photographer Complete the Encylopedia Wastelandica quest
  
• Statue Garden Awaken every spirit
  
• The bigger they are... Defeat prescott's mech (paint or thinner)

• Film Buff To get every projector make sure to paint the spatters and slobber in fort wasteland during the Ian fight. Sneak into the projector in the floatyard for the prescott fight, do not explode the wall until you have gotten the film reel of the projector behind the doors.
  
• Recycler Paint 50 enemies
  
• Prince Charming Make sure you paint every enemy you come across, you should get the achievement by the end of the run. The mad doctor's lab and blot alley has quite a few enemies if you need to farm.
  
• Junker Destroy 50 enemies
  
• Thinderella To quickly thin a ton of enemies the best way to farm it is in the mad doctor's attic before the mad doctor fight. Repair 2 of the 3 beetleworx generators, the tamed beetleworx will kill the beetleworx coming from the third generator, after a bit you will get the achievement automatically.
  
• Off Track This achievement requires a new save to get, do not attempt on the save where you are collecting everything you will not be able to get the perfectionist achievement.
  
• Tunnel Mouse There are 5 D.E.C.s, The first from MSN to OsTown, the second from OsTown to Rainbow falls, the third from Rainbow falls to Devil Caverns, the fourth from Devil caverns to Disney Gulch and the fifth from Fort Wasteland to the Floatyard, if you saved the spatters in Fort Wasteland (Which you should do) you will have to access the fifth D.E.C. from the Floatyard near the pirate ship float.
  
• Heads up Match seths garden with the OsTown statue (statue is built for goofys quest), make sure when building the statue that you choose whichever path you've decided for Finding the hidden heroes. (If you took hidden mickey photos, build the mickey statue, if you took hidden oswald photos build the oswald statue.) Make sure you take a photo of the statue (it should turn green) and show the photo to seth to get the achievement.

Costumes

Costumes are very useful, I usually spend most of my run with the sorcerer's apprentice, unless I need a costume for a certain currency like cloth or metal. There is an achievement for getting them all, you can buy them all. There are also a couple in the wild which might save you some time to pickup.

Sorcerer's Hat - Yen Sid's Lab - The hat received after breaking the glass on Yen Sid's desk.
SteamBoat Willie Hat - Dark Beauty Castle - On a chandelier in the first room where Ortensia disappears. Have Oswald throw Mickey up to it. Not accessible after jumping down to the room with Oswald's remote. (Can be purchased at the costume shop still)
Tracksuit Headband (Oswald) - Dark Beauty Castle - Shock the chest in the generator room. Leaving generator room will close off the room. (Can be purchased at the costume shop still)
Sorcerer's Robe - Disney Gulch (First area/Saloon) - Near the projector to Rainbow Caverns in a thinned out chest.
Tracksuit Shorts (Oswald) - Disney Gulch (Second area) - In a chest near the main exit projector (The Old Mill V1).
Construction Shoes - Disney Gulch (Second area) - Requires all 3 battery spheres to get. It is above the main exit projector (The Old Mill V1), ride the rising spring to the top of the robot head where the chest is.
SteamBoat Willie Shoes - Bog Easy (Old Town) - Thin the turning boat in the centre, there is a door to the captain's quarters, the costume is inside.
Knight Breastplate (Oswald) - Bog Easy (Old Town) - On roof of house next to the A Friend in Deed house. You might not be able to reach it in the first visit, the jump will be easier to make once the A Friend in Deed house is built.
Football Jersey - Blot Alley (second section) - In the corridor with two Spladooshes, on left side is platform with the chest. If the Spladooshes explode it will thin out the supports of the chest making it inaccessible.
Knight Greaves (Oswald) - Train Tunnels (Snow globe) - Right of the mad doctor's snow globe in a room that needs to be blown open by fireworks. Just bring the fireworks to the blue part of the wall and blow it up.
Football Cleats - Fort Wasteland (Forest) - Chest is thinned out, on a bottle.
SteamBoat Willie Pants - Floatyard (Alice section) - After doing thinner path in the train tunnels the window above the arm with the fireworks will open.
Mad Doctor Labcoat (Oswald) - Ventureland - Behind the Tiki Hut shop. Accessible from the boat ride.
Firefighter Shoes - Autotopia - After saving the Gremlin in the trees he will fix a car which will crash into a wall revealing the chest.
Mad Doctor Shoes (Oswald) - Autotopia - Inside the garage (must complete episode 3 first and save the gremlin).

Who the hell is Gremlin Kip?

This mission is literally not needed for anything and will only reward you with 250 e-tickets. This is not needed for 100%, but if you want to ascend beyond 100% this mission needs to be done. Gremlin Kip is in the floatyard next to the Stromboli Float after episode 2. He will ask for 4 photos of things around the floatyard. The wiki has all the locations and photos of the angles needed. Make sure to initate the quest first by talking to Kip. The cuckoo clock is very hard to get a photo of, I noticed taking a photo of the pip above it gives the best results.

Tips

Quick tips to make the game easier

• You can spin the gear on every projector 4 times to fast travel to the Cinema, this is not available until you beat the blotworx dragon
  
• I know this is a steam guide, but if you are on wii, you should note that the finding the hidden heroes quest has a softlock, full explanation on the wiki.

If anybody gets stuck at the "Heads Up" achievement you have to complete the Seth quest with the right picture and matching statue AND go back and photograph the statue in Os Town, it's a seperate photograph from the photograph you take to give to the pirate, so if you're on that quest thread you have to go back and do it again. This game is a nightmare.
