Cycle 106 (you)

The character you play as. You're Subject or Cycle 106, created to clean up the Syndicate's messes. You function sort of as a janitor for them, fixing their past mistakes. Your task is to hunt down other "rogue" cycles, specifically 78, 97, 95 and 91. Your goal includes not only killing these cycles but wiping out traces of Syndicate involvement and shutting down any assets they've created e.g. Horizon Corporation.

Cycle 78 AKA Anton Lazar

Anton Lazar is the CEO of the Horizon Corporation, an extremely powerful technological corporation with products such as their operating system, Horizon OS. They are focused on innovation but are also secretly doing unethical experiments all in the name of progress. Later in the game you find out Anton Lazar is another rogue cycle who is trying to bring down the Syndicate. When they initially captured you, they were trying to figure out your goals and motivations, however Cycle 106 is unable to talk so they attempted things like transferring your memories into other people which were unsuccessful. While they have you locked away in their secret research facility they are constantly implanting the idea of setting off a nuke into your mind, helping plant the seed of destroying the Syndicate at the end of the game.

Cycle 97 AKA The Mothman (Unconfirmed)

Cycle 97 you encounter at the Pandora Institute as the Horizon Corporation was attempting to create a new biological energy source. She doesn't look like the other cycles and is almost bulletproof. She was being contained at the Pandora Institute until she was released by Dr. Emerson. Subsequently she starts destroying the entire facility until she's stopped by Subject 106.
Cycle 95 AKA Doctor Emerson

Cycle 95 also known as Doctor Emerson is just a regular guy. He's a doctor they created to infiltrate the Horizon Corporation's research at the Pandora Institute. He was helping them with their research into Pandorium, the biological agent capable of converting biological material into energy. The Horizon Corporation knew they had a mole and Emerson commits suicide via Moth Man.
Cycle 91 AKA The Patriarch
Patty here is the leader of the cult at Jorvik Castle. He's Cycle 91 and he's gone rogue, focused on destroying the Syndicate. He has the ability to teleport but other than that it's unclear what his powers are. The cult is helping him fight the Syndicate to end the cloning process (Break the Cycle) and he is being helped by the Horizon Corporation. The cult is both leading an armed resistance of fighters as well as researching and creating their own super soldiers, the flesh golem. Unfortunately for them the flesh golems while very strong aren't very smart and don't have any powers other than just being very fast and strong so they are defeated by Subject 106.

On the mask he wears there are 4 Roman numerals, possibly indicating other cycles he's killed. Unsure what to make of these but I'll list them here.

XCI - 91 (front)
CIV - 104 (back)
LXXXV - 85 (right)
LXIX - 69 (left)

Cycle 107

The final boss of the game. He's created to stop you after you start destroying Task Force 27's HQ. He has all your abilities except he also has a cool dash and uses a sword instead of guns. He's the one who chops your arm off but is eventually killed by you. Guns beat swords.
Cycle 105
I don't have a good picture for this guy. Basically he's the guy who breaks you out at the beginning of the game after you're captured by Horizon. He has a cool katana and ends up killing himself after freeing you. Not much to say about this one. Credit to the Trepang2 subreddit for several of the images from this guide.

his attacks are super easy to dodge and predict, but best recommendation is having incendiary shotguns with you so you can see him even when cloaked

mothman is not a cycle since its been confirmed theres many of them and the sole reason its called a subject is because subjects are anomalous entities marked by Horizon/Syndicate
while cycles are superhumans/supersoldiers meant to follow after a certain side or a certain objective

subject-83
subject-97-01 (the mothman)
subject-277 (even if mentioned once, its not a cycle)

There's a line in the game files on the Pandora Institute from the VOX about a Subject 277 and is only mentioned in a single sound file which reads:
"Due to changes in the testing schedule, the party for Subject 277's birthday has been cancelled."

They're not mentioned anywhere else, nor can I find any other info about them, just thought it'd be cool to bring up :3

he says "Today is a day of grieving, you are the second brother I must kill."
Rōnin  [author] Jul 20, 2024 @ 5:02pm
Doesn't he add today after that?

I used to think that the numbers on the Patriarch's mask are those who he killed but when speaking to you he says that you're "The second brother that he must kill". My theory is that the numbers are those who defected with him but have died so far or something similar.
