Introducing GBSU OptiClip Lite: A Performance Mod for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed

Greetings, Ghostbusters Community!

I'm excited to share with you all a new mod I've developed for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, called GBSU OptiClip Lite.

What is GBSU OptiClip Lite?

GBSU OptiClip Lite is a lightweight mod for the IllFonic Steam version of Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed (Ecto Edition). It optimizes Buster and Ghost customization screens, ensuring smoother gameplay.

Tailored Compatibility: Perfectly syncs with Build 1.7.1.43578 for a seamless experience.

Streamlined File Sizes: Drastically reduces video files from a hefty 788 MB to a sleek 97 MB, ensuring quicker load times without compromising functionality or any noticeable quality.

Enhanced Gameplay Fluidity: Experience noticeably smoother frame rates and reduced lag while within the customization screens.

Speed and Efficiency: This optional feature not only slightly speeds up the game's startup time but also has the potential to address the notorious black screen bug encountered by some players (which was why this option was created in the first place).

Effortless Installation: A user-friendly setup process that's quick and straightforward.

Reliable Backup Mechanism: Automatically creates a backup file, providing a safety net for your game data.

Dedicated Uninstaller: Seamlessly reverts your game back to its original state.

Is GBSU OptiClip Lite Right for You?

Before diving into the installation, let's find out if your game could benefit from GBSU OptiClip Lite. Here's a quick and easy way to check:

1. Head over to the "Abilities" section for Ghosts (this is more noticeable).

2. As you explore different customization's (roll your cursor around), particularly those with video previews, keep an eye on your FPS (Frames Per Second).

3. If you're not experiencing significant FPS drops during this test, your current setup might already be optimal, and this mod may only offer a minimal benefit.

4. If you notice FPS drops or any lag, GBSU OptiClip Lite could be the game-changer you need for a smoother experience.

Installation Guide

1. Download the installer from the link below.

2. Install it to your game directory (e.g., C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GBSU\SwayzeGame\Content) or wherever you have GBSU installed, just be sure it's pointed to the SwayzeGame folder.

3. That's it! Launch the game and enjoy the smoother experience!


In the future, when I have a bit more time, I'll upload this to Nexus or some other official modding/file sharing site. For now, this is what I got. If you have any experience in this dept or have a suggestion, I'm all ears.

Need to Uninstall?

To Uninstall:
1. Use the "unins000.exe" in your "Content" folder, normally found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GBSU\SwayzeGame\Content\' or wherever you installed '\GBSU\SwayzeGame\Content\'

2. or use the Add or Remove Programs feature.

3. As a manual option, you can rename the "Backup Movies" folder in your "Content" folder to "Movies."


Note: While I have diligently tested this mod across various scenarios, it's important to remember that modding experiences can differ depending on individual system configurations. However, I've ensured that the mod is as compatible and stable as possible.

In the unlikely event you encounter any issues, Steam offers a straightforward solution:

You can easily validate your game files through Steam. This process checks for any discrepancies or errors caused by the mod and restores the necessary game files to their original state and be rest assured, validating your game files through Steam will not affect your saved progress.

How to Validate Game Files on Steam *only if needed*

WARNING: Validating your GBSU files will overwrite any changes that were made.


Open Steam Client:
Start by launching the Steam application on your computer.

Access Library:
In the Steam client, click on the "Library" tab at the top. This will display all the games you have in your Steam library.

Find the Game:
Scroll through your list of games and right-click on "Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed."

Properties Menu:
From the right-click menu, select "Properties." This opens a new window with various tabs related to the game.

Local Files Tab:
In the Properties window, click on the "Local Files" tab. This tab contains options for managing the game files on your computer.

Verify Integrity of Game Files:
Click on the button that says "Verify Integrity of Game Files." Steam will start checking your game files and compare them with the latest version on its servers.

Wait for the Process:
The validation process may take a few minutes to complete. During this time, Steam will identify any missing or corrupted files and automatically download replacements for them.

Completion:
Once the process is complete, you will receive a message from Steam indicating that the validation is done. If any files were replaced, Steam will notify you.

Almost Done:
Close the Properties window and launch "Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed" to see if the issues have been resolved.

I have it on Epic, It works on that version or theres a similar version of this but for epic???

I tried installing this but when I got to the loading main screen, opting to bypass the company logos the exe offered, it was stuck on "compiling shaders" and wouldn't progress. I had to verify the files and that seemed to fix it but I am gunna hazard a guess it removed the mod. Any suggestions?
