Intro
Welcome to "The Ultimate Newbie Guide"! In this guide, you will learn about SMASH LEGENDS in most of its details, from the simplest of buttons to the complex mechanics the game offers!
You can use the List on the right to go directly where you want, but you are free to read everything you want! Enjoy the Reading ;)
Note: the Guide is kinda unoptimized since this is my first time doing one, so some things might look off. For a better view of the guide, I reccomend using a wider than taller screen, so that most stuff fits just right.
Main Lobby
The Lobby is where you are while not in a match. from here you can access basically everything available in the game and decide to do whatever you want with your account.
Here, I will number things so it will be easier to check everything. So, if you get lost you can check here where to search for something!

Lobby 1-3: Profile, Events and Passes
1: Profile info
Put on the top left of the screen, we have very important info & rewards. From left to right we have:

The Profile: here info about yourself in-game are displayed like icon, name, level and rank. Clicking on any of this will take you to the more detailed page of your profile, which looks like as follows:
Here detailed info is shown, in which the most important thing we can find is your Smasher Code, basically an account identifier.
This code is needed to send friend request, partecipate in Ducky's and Robin event or send reports.
In "Legend Statistic" you can find info about how well you did overall in a certain mode, while "Battle Log" shows the most recent matches along with a replay functionality.

Right next to this you can find a small button that leads to the Daily Competitive Match Rewards, these are some rewards you get from playing the Ranked games once a day, based on your current rank.
From here, you can also check this Season's rewards and if you have already claimed the daily, while also being able to see in how much time the daily will refresh out.

After that, you can see the Trophy Road, indicated by the yellow trophy button with next written your current amount. In this section here I will only talk about how the rewards are disposed and how you get them. To see how the Trophy system works on Legends, check [That thing yeah].
The Road is divided in 2 rows, the Free Road and the Ad Road. The Free Road is the upper one while the Ad Road is the lower one (also indicated by the "Watch an Ad" icon near the firstmost reward). You can get the Ad rewards by either buying the Ad-Free or by actually watching Ads on mobile.

2: Events/Offers
On the left-most part of the screen, we have 2 buttons, one for the Ad-Free package and the other for Events. We can differentiate main events in 2 categories: Attendance and Quest.

This is an example of Attendance event. In these events, you just get on the game everyday to claim the next reward, very straight-forward.

Meanwhile, this is a Quest event. In this type of event, you complete Quests to gain rewards. A small difference happens when the Quest either asks you to "Win as" or "Win with".
"Win as" missions want YOU to play the said legend, while "Win with" legends want ANYONE on the team to play the legend and it will give rewards to all of it.

3: Passes
In SMASH LEGENDS, we have 2 kinds of Passes, the Smash Pass and the Spinoff Pass. The first one contains a new Legend and all of its newly released customizables, while the other one contains a new Mythic skin for an already released legend. Both passes work differently, so I'll explain everything from one each.

SMASH PASS
This pass, as already said before, contains the newly released Legend, alongside some effects and emojis related to the Pass theme.
The Smash pass has 3 different Tiers: the Free Pass, the Smash Pass and the Premium Pass. You can get Battle Points (used to progress in this pass) by completing Quests found in the Quest tab.
  • The Free Pass is mostly made of progression material like Credits, Sponsor Support and Fashion Tickets while also having 1 Common Icon and a Rare effect.
  • The Smash Pass contains instead the main focus of its content, this involving in the new Legend, 4 emojis for it, a skin and other cosmetics. This pass costs around $9, or $12 if you also want to get yourself 20 levels of the Pass included.
  • Lastly, the Premium Pass contains Enchantment progression mostly dedicated for the legend found in the Smash Pass, alongside a lot of Enchantment Chests and 1 more Effect and Icon (the icon is Super Rare, this means it is animated). This pass costs around $30 and, after purchasing it, it grants instantly 10 levels and the ability to reroll the Enchantment Shop one more time.

SPINOFF PASS
This pass, as also said before, contains mostly currencies used in the Dimensional Exchange (more on that soon).
The Spinoff pass has 3 Different Tiers, even if the first 2 count as 1 visually. You can get Spinoff Points (used to progress in this pass) by playing the game. From bottom to top, the passes are:
  • The Free Pass, cotaining various items like Credits, Wish Cubes, Enchantment Boxes and Pickup Fashion Box Tickets. What makes it unique is a Rare profile Icon at tier 5 and a Guaranteed Random Enchantment at Tier 100.
  • The Ad Pass, containing almost the exact same things as the Free Pass, with only major difference is at Tier 5, in which this Tier has the legend which the newly released Mythic Skin is for. This pass is free but either requires watching Ads or the Ad-Free package to get.
  • The Spinoff Pass, containing bigger numbers of Wish Cubes, Tickets but also 300 Spinoff points at level 1 and Aggression & Fortitude Enchants for the legend which received the new skin. This pass costs around $20 and gives enough Wish Cubes to buy the new Mythic Skin.

From here, you can also access the Dimensional Exchange, which is a shop where you can exchange Wish Cubes and Pickup Fashion Box Tickets to get various rewards, including Mythic Skins and Pickup Fashion Boxes.
This shop main focuses are 2 Showcased skins, Pickup Fashion Boxes, an exclusive Frame and Enchantment Stones.
The Pickup Fashion Box is a version of the Normal Fashion Boxes (check "the Shop" section for those) which only difference is that it has a greater chance to find the highlighted skin (A recolor of the one you can buy with the Wish Cubes)
Lobby 4-6: Shop, Sponsor, Arenas
4: the Shop
This is where all the stuff you need can be purchase. The Shop offers a vast offfer of products for you to choose from listed in various categories, which we are gonna seek trought them all.

  • The Recommended page is always the first thing you will see when entering the Shop, and it acts kinda like a main page. This section is divided in 2 main parts: the Offers and the Dailies. The Offers are special deals made on a time limit, often with extra values or reduced costs; the Dailies are offers that refresh everyday, with the highlights being the Free Credits, the Super Box and the Enchantment Shop. This last thing also has the special ability to be refreshed once a day (2 with the Premium Pass) and being the only thing in the game to use Enchantment Cores (More on that in the Currency section).
  • The Gem page is where you can purchase gems with real money. The game also gives you a +100% bonus on the first purchase you make for each of those offers.
  • The Legend page is where you can view all the not owned legends and decide to purchase them with either Credits or Gems. You can filter this by lowest cost or release date.
  • The Skin page is where you can view the not owned skins which aren't Epic or better rarity and decide to purchase them with Gems or Credits. You can only get Epic+ skins from the various Fashion Boxes. You can filter by legend, release date and rarity.
  • The Effects page is where you can view all the not owned effects and decide to purchase them with Gems. You can filter between the 3 Types of effects as well as by release date/highest rarity.

5: Sponsor
Unlocked at 175 Trophies in the trophy Road, the Sponsor is a way to passively gain EXP on your legends, as well as gaining a bit of credits in the process. To do so, just click on the EXP slot and select a legend you wish to upgrade (Don't worry, you can still use the legend you put there!)
The Sponsor stacks up with time, giving out 5 Credits and 20 EXP per hour, which have to be manually claimed (After reaching 12h, it will stop producing rewards).
You can also get Sponsor Supports, which are a way to skip the time requirement; a Sponsor Support basically instantly stacks up the rewards of a certain time treshold which can also go over 100% (still have to be manually claimed).
Royal Sponsor is an upgrade to the Sponsor which doubles all rewards gained and also increases max time from 12h to 24h. It costs around $12.

6: Arenas
Arenas are how the various game modes are called here in Smash Legends. There are various game modes and maps to play on, but that will go in another Section of the guide, because here we will talk about how the maps are placed in the UI.

Lobby 7-10: Legends, Social, Other and Currency
7: Legends
Legends are the name of the playable characters of Smash Legends; they originate from various Fairy Tales and decided to join the Smash Legends to try to win the Write O'Light, "a Treasure with the power of creation to grant any wish!".
There are many Legends and many ways to obtain them, and all of those methods will be listed right below.
  • Peter is the first legend you will have, and so it is free.
  • Buying them from the Shop. Most legends can be obtained this way, and you can purchase them with either Credits or Gems.
  • Obtaining them from the Trophy Road. You can obtain them by simply playing and getting an high Trophy amount.
  • Purchasing the Smash Pass. This will always be the newest legend released.
  • Ducky&Swan is another special legend which can only be obtained trought the "Invite your Friends" event.
Each legend has a Class associated to it, which serves to generalize the role it holds and have a decent expectation of what the legend could do.
Role Name
Description
Fighter
All-around class, having more or less medium statlines.
Assassin
Damage Dealer class, having high mobility/damage but low HP.
Vanguard
Tank class, having high HP/control but low damage.
Marksman
Shooter class, having high range/damage but low HP/mobility
Support
Excels at helping teammates, having great crowd control with effects like stuns and heals.
Specialist
Unique Class, having something so unique that can't be put in any other class.

Note!
This section only contains the UI part of this screen. To see the gameplay part, check the "Gameplay" one!

8: Social
For Social, I mean the user interaction that is possible in Smash Legends, and this case refers to the 3 buttons positioned to the right of the Lobby: Team, Clan and Friends.

Team menu is pretty straight forward: you can either create a team or join one to play togheter with people! After being in a team, a chat button appears where you can send messages and emojis to your teammates. At the bottom of the menu we also have 2 buttons: Ignore Team Invites and Ignore Team partecipation. The first one disables the notification you get from getting invited, while the second doesn't let friends join right from your friend list.

Clan menu shows a bunch of clans recommended to you to join, while also having a search bar. You can also create a can for 200 gems if you want, by giving it a name, a tag and a description.
Being in a clan right now hasn't a proper use, except from having a tag near your name in various menus. Here is an example found in the Lobby.

After all of this we have the Friend List, a way to have your gaming partners always with you and playing games togheter. To send a friend request, you can either ask it from the battle log by clicking other players icons or you can use their Smasher Code to send one. To accept it, just click the "👤+" icon on the bottom left and click accept.
Next to it, you can also find where the Ducky event is, and read how it works out: it's all there!
With friends, you can either invite, join or chat with them; while also being able to pin them so that they always appear on the top of your list (it's the blue star banner icon).

9: Other
By this, I mean what is inside the "Hamburger Menu", as I like to call it (the ≡ Menu for those who didn't understand). This menu contains a lot of things which I'll try to summarize as best as possible.
  • Settings takes to the game Settings, divided in General (contains volume, graphics and fps), Controls, Account (a list of connected platforms) and Others (language, support, coupon and paid currency showcase)
  • Ranking takes to the Competitive Matches leaderboard, which can be filtered by Worldwide, Region and Friends.
  • Hot Clips takes you to a website where you can see some of the latest YT videos of Smash Legends.
  • Mailbox takes you to your mailbox where you can claim your rewards from various things like updates, ranked rewards and more.
  • News takes you to a news website where you can check the latest patch notes.
  • Notification shows you the notification that appears as you enter the game.
  • Discord takes you to the Official Discord server of Smash Legends.
  • Exit Game (only on pc) makes you leave the game.

10: Currencies
P.S.: for the 2 ticket items I forgot the word "box" in them, sorry...
Currencies are "Materials" used to do almost anything in the game, from buying legends to get Enchantments. In the image above you can see a list of all currencies in-game and down here I will explain what they do and how you get them.

Currency
Description
Credits
Basic currency of the game, used to do very basic stuff like buying and upgrading Legends.
They can be obtained from almost anyhing: shop (free every day), both Passes, events, Trophy Road and also by simply playing (This last method only gives up to 1k a day)
Gems
Premium currency of the game, used to buy cosmetics, offers and Legend Roads.
They can be obtained from in-app purcahses, Bonus Combat Rewards (Max 5 times a day) and small amounts from Trophy Road and Spinoff Pass.
Enchantment Stones
Used to obtain Enchantments for Legends.
They can be obtained from Enchantment Boxes, and these have a low% to instead get a full Enchantment.
Enchantment Cores
Used to purchase Ench. Stones in the Shop.
They can be obtained by converting Ench. Stones in a 100:1 formula (100 stones make 1 core)
Fashion Box Tickets
The standard Fashion Ticket. They are used to purchase Fashion Boxes in the Shop, which give random Cosmetics.
They can be obtained from other Fashion Boxes or by buying them with Mystical Fabric in the Shop.
Mystical Fabric
Used to purchase Fashion Box Tickets (more uses coming "soon")
It can be obtained from getting duplicates from Fashion Boxes.
Pickup Fashion Box Tickets
The "Better" Fashion Ticket. They are used to purchase Pickup Fashion Boxes in the Dimensional Exchange.
They can be obtained from other Pickup Fashion Boxes or by buying them with either Gems or Wish Cubes.
Wish Cubes
Last currency of this list. Uses to purchase Mythic Skins an more oterh items from the Dimensional Exchange.
They can be gotten from Spinoff Pass and both Fashion and Pickup Fashion Boxes.
Gameplay
This section here will talk about the various things you will have to work with in the game while in an actual match. We will start from the main topic, those being the Legends and how they work, to then talk about their unlockables, moves, abilities and more! After that, we will talk about the maps where you play on and in the end what you can get from these battles.
Let's get this going!

Classes
First thing to say about the legends are their Class, which basically categorizes legends based on their game role. Here is a list of all the roles in the game.

Moveset
After that, it's good to know that ALL Legends have a total of 7 Attacks and various movement options, also called moveset. We will divide into Basic and Advanced. We'll start with the Basic moveset first.
  • Basic Attack is the main attack provided, having no cooldown or limitations. This attack, most of the times, has a count, displayed in the Legends' info box. This count shows how many button presses it needs to complete a "Full attack string" (basically attacking the max number of times)

  • Skill is the secondary attack provided, having a time-based cooldown. This attack is usually stronger than the basic attack and provides diversity in combat, and sometimes has more stacks, allowing consecutive use. You can see how much time is left for your skill to recharge from the gray bar under your HP bar.

  • Ultimate is the third and most powerful attack provided, having a gauge-based cooldown. This gauge can be filled up with either time, attacks (both given and received) and some items. Some legends have stacks instead of the gauge with a special way to charge it.
This move has the peculiarity to have priority over other moves and also having Super Armor. The priority means that you can use your Ultimate during any other own attack for combos, and the Super Armor means that while using your Ult you can't be knockbacked from attacks, but we will learn more of this later.

Basic Attack and Skill also have an Air version, called Air Basic and Air Skill, respectively. These attacks can be done by using them while in the air, most often achieved by jumping.
Air basic on the left, Air Skill on the right.

About jumping, the Jump is also a Basic movement option. By pressing the Jump button, your legend will start a jump. This jump lets you get higher in elevation, this meaning it can be used to dodge some hits or just get over obstacles.

We will now get in the "Advanced" moveset section, where we will talk about some more niche things, but still technically easy concept that can be very helpful in a battle.

First of all it's time to talk about the 4 states of a Legend: standing, hitstunned, grounded and Ledge Hang
  • Standing is when a legend is, well, standing, and is capable to do everything we said before (this including moving, attacking and jumping).

  • Hitstun is a situation where your legend can't move or do anything. This is achieved by getting hit by any attack. The lower HP you have, the more you will be hitstunned when getting hit.

  • Grounded is a situation where your legend lays on the floor. This is achieved by getting hit by a medium-heavy attack and then not acting until you touched the ground. In this state the legend can do certain actions, those being Rolling and the Getup Attack.

  • Legde Hanging is the last state of a Legend. This is achieved by trying to fall near the side of the map. When in this state, you will be temporanery immune to all attacks, but being in this state for too long makes you fall off. To avoid this, you can either Jump or attack to exit this state (Attacking here leads to a Recover/Ledge Attack, read further to understand what it is).

With this in mind, we can now introduce the last 2 attacks a Legend has available, those being the Getup and the Recover/Ledge attacks, these requiring you to be in a precise state first.

  • The Getup attack is an answer to being Grounded by enemies. After getting grounded, click the Basic/Skill attack button to do your getup attack. You will be immune to everything while attacking.
Using the Ult button, instead, will just use your Ultimate as normal.

  • The Ledge attack is an answer to holding a Ledge. After garbbing a ledge, click the Basic/Skill attack button to do your Ledge attack. You will be immune to everything while attacking.
Using the ult button, instead, will just use your Ultimate as normal.

    HP and Knockback
Another VERY important thing in Smash Legends are the HP (Health Points) of the Legends.
The HP value means how much damage a Legend can take before being SMASHed.

In This game there is NO passive regeneration, this meaning that once hit you can't recover your HP naturally, unless it is something external (Moveset, Abilities, Some Items).
Furthermore, the Knockback in this game is based off your current HP, like in some other fighting games: this means that the lower HP you have, the more you will hitstunned and knockbacked away from attacks. When reaching the arena border, then, you will be SMASHed and considered dead.

In case you go down to 0 HP, the game will apply the max force on you to assure you get SMASHed, but it can happen that it fails to do so. If this happens, you will go back to 1 HP to assure anything that touches you again SMASHes you.
Gameplay 2: Arenas and Items
Originally posted by Lobby 6: Arenas:
Arenas are how the various game modes are called here in Smash Legends. There are various game modes and maps to play on, but that will go in another Section of the guide, because here we will talk about how the maps are placed in the UI.
As said previously in Lobby section 6, there are many slots in which you can play different modes. We will now analyze how each mode works and all their maps.
It is to note that most maps have a "name scheme", with model being [location] - [time]. An example of this is "Abandoned Pirate Ship - Noon" and "Pirate Ship - Rain": they BOTH take place in the Pirate Ship, but at different times. This is called a Map Variation, basically same map but at different times.
*For now there will only be Dominion maps. Sorry for this but I want to rest a bit ;-;

Items
In all maps there are various Items to help the players out and making strategies better. Here are all the items you can find in matches. To grab an item, just get near it and, to use it, use the Basic Attack button.
Bomb
When Launched, explodes dealing 1000 damage and high Knockback.
Magnetic Bomb
When Launched, implodes teleporting Legends to the launch spot. Ignores Super Armor.
Donut
Makes your Legend bigger and faster for a period of time. This also leads to increased Hitboxes, HP and damage. When SMASHed while you have this buff, the Donut will pass to whoever SMASHed you.
Snowball
When launched, it deals 0 damage in a small AoE to Freeze enemies for 1s.
HP Potion
Heals your Legend for a percentage of your max HP.
Cooldown Drink/Skill Box
Charges your Ultimate Gauge by a certain amount. If the Ult has stacks, it reffils one no matter the requirement.
Big Cooldown Drink/Big Skill Box
Istantly Charges your Ultimate gauge to full, even if it requires stacks.
Dominion
"Capture the Dominion Point by preventing any opponents from entering the point while member of your team remains inside"

Dominion is a 3v3 mode where you team fight the enemy one for the control of the Dominion Point. You gain control of the Point if no enemies are inside of it. By controlling the Point for 12 Seconds, you gain a Victory Point. You need 4 Vicory Points to win. Before winning a match, tho, "Victory Time!" will activate, this requiring the Dominion Point to be without enemies for a Full Second before ending the match.

These are all maps available in Dominion:
Arena Locations
Arena Times
Abandoned Pirate Ship
Noon, Sunset, Late Night, Rain
Unlicensed Space Dock
Stratosphere, Sunset
Magic Bean Field
Magical Time

First map we will talk about is Pirate Ship - Noon. This map has the Dominion Point in the center with 2 branches extending diagonally, where Legends spawn.
This map has 3 Jump Pads and 4 Item Disks available for players.
The 2 Item Disks near the center can contain either Bombs or HP Potions, while the ones near the edges contain either Bombs or Skill Boxes.

This map is Pirate Ship - Sunset, having the Point at the center sorrounded by water and palms. Players spawn on the sides and can access the Point by either using the bridge in the middle or the Jump Pads at the sides, which there are 4 of.
This map also contains 6 Item Disks: 1 near each Jump Pad and 2 near the Point, one at the top and the other at the bottom.
The Item Disks near the Jump Pads can contain either Bombs, HP Potions or Skill Boxes; while the 2 Disks near the Point contain Skill Boxes.

Pirate Ship - Late Night is kinda built like an opposite of Noon, having the Player spawn above the point instead of under it. This map has 2 Jump Pads near the centre and 4 Item Disks (1 for each Pole).
The Disk at the top (between the 2 Jump Pads) contains either a Skill Box or a Big one; the ones at the sides contain either Bombs or HP Pots, while the bottom one always has an HP Potion in it.

Pirate Ship - Rain is the last released Pirate Ship map we have. This map has 4 Jump Pads placed in the lower part and 6 Item Disks evenly distributed.
The top and bottom Disks have a fixed item each: top one has a Big Skill Box, while bottom one has a Magnetic Bomb, both very powerful items that can change up a game real fast. The other 4 Disks can either contain Bombs, HP Pots or Skill Boxes.

Unlicensed Space Dock - Stratosphere is the first map we got for Dominion which does not take place in the Pirate Ship. This map features a Point at the top that moves downwards/upwards each 30s, taking 2s before moving. This map also has 2 Jump Pads placed at the top, near the starting point, and 3 Item Disks.
The Item Disk at the top (near the Dominion Point) always has an HP Potion, while the 2 Disks at the bottom (near the Player Spanws) have either Skill Boxes or Bombs.

Unlicenced Zeppetta Factory, even tough it has different name, is still considered at the same location of Space Dock. This map features players spawning at the sides, a Dominion Point at the bottom and a Switch at the top. This Switch makes the Point move nearer to your spawns, and can be activated by using the Basic Attack button. This map also has 4 Item Disks. The Item Disk near the Switch has an HP Potion, the bottom one (near the point) has a Magnetic Bomb and the 2 on the sides have either a Bomb or an HP Potion.

Magic bean Field is the last map added to the game. This map was originally an Harvest War Map, but it got reworked into a Dominion map. It features 3 Jump Pads and 7 Item Disks, with 4 at the bottom, and 1 for each other side.
The Disks at the left/right always have a Donut in them, the top one has a Magnetic Bomb, while the bottom ones have HP Pots and Bombs.
Gameplay 3: Trophies & Mastery
Trophies are needed to progress in the game, especially in the Trophy Road [Check Lobby 1: Profile for that], and also in the Legend Road. You can obtain Trophies by winning matches, and lose them by losing matches. P.S.: Trophies cannot be won or lost in Ranked Mode.

Trophies also have a "Checkpoint/Title" feature, where reaching a certain amount of trophies will lock the minimum you can drop to, and also give you a little title for that legend. Down here you will find a small table of all Trophies needed for each rank/Checkpoint.

Trophies
0
100
300
600
1000
Titles
Novice
Intermediate
Adept
Expert
Master

After Reaching the Master Rank, your legend will Unlock the Mastery System, which changes a lot of things, if not everything.
Mastery cannot be lost and only gained (any loss will turn in a +0 instead), and won't count towards Trophy Road. Furthermore, the legend will now be elegible to be shown in the Mastery Leaderboard. Also, before you go ask somewhere: no, Mastery does not give any reward of any type, it is just there to flex on people.

You can obtain even more Trophies and Mastery thanks to the Win Streak Bonus! Winning more matches in a row will give you extra Trophies/Mastery (+5/win, with a max of +25 at 6 Win Streak). Once you got to the Max win streak bonus, you can still gain more Streak, but it will not give any additive reward.

Thanks for reading this far in the Guide, I really appreciate it! Please, if you have any idea improvement and/or noticed some missing text or information, tell me in the comments so I can make this guide better!
Also, this is just a "Beta" for the Guide, since I will still fill some holes I left here and there and actually add the nominated "Gameplay" section, which will include:
how Legends work in detail,
the Trophy System,
the various maps and how they play,
maybe more stuff,
so stay tuned for some updates!

P.S.: If you liked the guide you could also rate it if you want, but that's only if you care tbf.

I'm a new player! Thanks for the guide, it's very helpful :> In the past, I was a noob player, but now I'm pro at the game because of this guide. I read this guide every hour and I dream about the guide at night. If I don't see the guide for more than 30 minutes I will start feeling depressed and have the urge to look at the guide again. I can't take my eyes off this guide because it's so beautiful. I think I'm starting to develop a crush on this guide. Any advice on what I can do? :steamsad:

As for today, I think I finished the Legend Section. Please tell me if it's good or needs more info added to it, even if I tought about adding the Ability/Enchantment Section to it.
Tomorrow I will add trophy Road explanation and I will also say how each arena works and, after that, I can consider the guide complete (Doesn't mean I will stop updating it, you guys please ask more stuff and I will add it in)
Carl00710  [author] Jan 5, 2024 @ 2:36am
@Inaste I still have to cover that part but no, master is the highest rank at 1000 trophies and once reached that point you can't lose trophies at all. + After 1k they get called "Mastery"
Inaste Jan 4, 2024 @ 8:53pm
Nice guide, I'm new to the game and I have a question, can you lose your character master rank? And how high can your character knowledge go, are there ranks after master?
