"Taken at a local dive bar.

Got this on my 10th try or something like that. All records were default, so this is a decidedly unimpressive score.

The playfield angle was quite steep (athough I think it's the default for this table), and I was just starting to get the hang of this table's physics (managed to start 2 of the multiball modes, at least) when the table failed to load a ball and lost track of it.

This is at least the third Stern machine that's lost track of the ball like that, necessitating (afaik) manual relocation of the balls (which, unsurprisingly, nobody could do at this joint).

If anybody happens to know if there's a way to fix this problem without opening the machine, please speak up! Already tried tilting and power cycling."

Good stuff, just watched both segments. Learned a few things.

There's another segment at 2:45:00, but that one didn't look that interesting.

Chewie, here is the link to the Metallica play at PAPA 17 World Championship. Start watching at the 4:40:17 mark, and then again at the 5:56:05 mark.

Chewie, I think it was either the Premium or the LE model, but I don't think it matters much from a gameplay perspective. Just more bling.

It's normally referred to as an "alley pass", an extremely late, and thus dangerous, shot from the very tip of the flipper bat that effectively runs the ball up the opposite flipper and lights the in-lane rollover. Neil Shatz perfected the alley pass, and it become such a fundamental part of his game, that his peers started referring to it as "Shatz'in the in-lane".

What does "Shatz'in the inlane" mean?

Were they playing the Pro or Premium version?

I'll have to look up more about it later. I've only played it blind so far.

And yeah, we should meet up. I'm just hesitant to schedule something now because I still can't predict how I'll be feeling on any given night.

During the PAPA commentary, the announcers were talking about the Metallica pin design, noting that most of the pros really enjoy playing on it. One of them noted that Metallica was already a great pin upon its initial release, but with the recent code update, it had transformed into a truly exceptional pin. One of the all-time greats.

We should plan another local get-together before we head off the Vegas. I would enjoy playing Attack from Mars or Metallica.

You should watch some of the Twitch replays of the Metallica table in the semis and finals of PAPA 17. Caley George played really well on that table, if I recall, and it was set up at PAPA speeds. I can't remember whether that was the table where I saw one of the players (Caley or Zach) "Shatz'in the inlane" during a 3- ball multi-ball, but it was very cool. Even the announcers were a little stunned. Good stuff!

I also scoped out a local Attack From Mars table at another pub (more upscale, doesn't stay open late), but the place had already turned it off for the night so I didn't get a chance to play it.
