What is TTT? (Vocab, Terms, etc.)

This information can be found in the F1 menu in game. The basics are that there are 3 teams: The Traitors, The innocents and the Detectives. The innocents are the group of people that try to find out who the traitors are and eradicate them. The detectives work with the innocents to figure out who the traitors are, but have special powers that we will look into in a bit. And finally, the traitors are the people who try to sneakily, but quickly, gain the trust of the innocents... and murder them

Useful Phrases

KOS means Kill on sight. This means kill the specified person when you see them.
RDM means Random Death Match. This is when you kill someone or someone kills you for no valid reason. If you need a larger explaination, go to this guide here:
Ghosting is when you use an outside chatting source or private chat with other players to reveal Traitors, who's dead and alive, the location of other players, etc. This can also be known as Metagaming. This ruins the point of the game if you know all of the Ts.
T-Rooms are KOSable areas that only Traitors can access.
T-Testers are areas where you test players to reveal their roles.

Karma
Karma is the "rating" you have at the end of each round that carries on to future rounds. The higher your karma is, you deal more and more damage. The lower it is, however, will cause you to deal less damage and eventually be Karma banned, which is when you are banned from a server for having too low of a Karma Rating. Duration of ban and minimum karma allowed varies between servers.

Your karma rating lowers every time you cause a member of your own team damage (traitor vs. traitor, innocent/detective vs innocent/detective.) Karma Deduction Penalties vary between servers. In order to increase it, you must play clean rounds, meaning that you only shoot members of the opposite team or you do not shoot anybody at all during the round. You must be alive to claim your karma rewards, or you will only gain 25% of it.

Karma Status is the phrase that comes up after mousing over somebody. This is the list as follows, starting from Highest karma to lowest:
Reputable Trigger happy Crude Dangerous Liability

TIPS ON KARMA-RELATED SUBJECTS

--- Karma can significantly impact your gameplay. It is highly reccomended that, before shooting someone, you ask yourself "Am I willing to bet my karma on this person being a traitor?" If so, go for it and shoot him. If not, you should hold back before causing more damage. Don't be afraid to make mistakes every now and then, but RDMing can really ruin your chances of having a good T round.
--- If you have low karma, consider staying away from semi-automatic weapons like the Shotgun and the Rifle, and instead go for Full-Autos like the Mac10 and M16. Sure, each bullet will do less damage, but at least you get more hits on them to (hopefully) disorientate your target and attempt to get away and/or call out their name a few times more.
--- Staying at a higher karma rating (and, therefore, a reputable status) will cause some people to trust you more. This can really benefit you if you are a Traitor, or warn Trigger Happy traitors to think twice about shooting someone more powerful than them. All in all, it's better to have a higher karma rating.

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

Servers will usually allow mistakes (defined as a kill with proof, but ended up killing an innocent) every once and a while and allow a Karma Deduction Penalty to ensue, but note that repeat mistakes will tend to get you a slay. Make sure that you are playing your cards right and spare your karma.
Being Proven
Proven Innocents are players that prove to the other players that they are not traitors. This limits the odds and helps find traitors faster due to process of elimination; keep track of those that are proven and those you trust to locate the Ts.

Ways to prove yourself
Testing is by far the easiest and most common source of getting innocents confirmed innocent. On certain maps, there are Traitor Testers that are used to determine whether or not someone is innocent. However, it's not that easy. Traitors can use this method to their advantage by using certain tricks I'll state later on in the Strategies for Traitors section of this guide.
Killing a Traitor is another way to get proven. The way this works is when an innocent kills a traitor, he/she is considered innocent; on most servers it is illegal to kill your own T buddy. However, again, this method is not 100% effective. Traitors can take advantage of this, which I will explain in the Strategies for Traitors section of this guide.
Communication
Communication is key in TTT and it is highly recommended that you have a good michrophone before playing it.

Communication is extrememly helpful in finding the traitors. Here are some ways that you can communicate effectively with your teammates.
  1. Do not be annoying/over use your michrophone - This will just get you muted and you will lose the opportunity to help out in communications. Be clear, repeat only if you have to, and state your point directly without beating around the bush.

  2. Try to prioritize your thoughts and statements - Sometimes, things should not be said. If you say something that can be considered suspicious, you could be killed later on. Instead, try to focus on yelling out call-outs, stating your suspects (and why they're suspicious), and asking questions for suspects to answer. You do not want to say that you are with someone and then 3 seconds later he is an Un-Identified body that you ID.

  3. In a gunfight, KOSes are your first priority - Whether it be a bystander that watches the gunfight, or people that hear it, they might be wondering what is going on. Call out your killer so that everyone knows that you are trying to defend yourself from your assailiant rather than kill him. If you call out your attacker, he will be shot down even if you die.
Useful console commands
Here are some console commands that may help you when playing TTT. Note that these are not cheats; they are merely just quick-binds and allow for quicker actions.

LEGEND:
command
CommandToggle
"string"
[value]
(amount)
{optional}

Notes:
For those that are unfamilliar with the coding universe, using console is just using commands in LUA. Here are some things you should know before entering any console command...

-Anything that is typed in lowercase must be typed in lowercase and vice versa, otherwise, you may experience problems such as an invalid command.

-Anything typed "in quotes" is considered a string. This is the part that comes after commands like the bind command. In some commands such as the Disguiser command or a keybind (a-z) where there are no spaces, you technically do not need any quotes. However, it is a good habit to get into to use quotes for every string. Strings can have spaces.

-Values should be typed in numbers (obviously) and can include "True/False" inputs called Booleans. Booleans are true or false inputs used in pretty much all of coding (1=true, 0=false).

-Amounts should be typed in numbers.

-Anything that is optional can be ignored; You do not have to put in a value or command in an optional string.

Also note that [Target] means anyone targeted. In the case of the Radio Commands, [Target] means anyone under your crosshair.

Toggle Disguiser: If you have a disguiser, it can be annoying to go to the T shop to enable it all the time. So, type in this command to be able to press a keybind to quickly enable and disable your disguiser on a dime.

bind "[keybind]" "ttt_toggle_disguiser"

By default, the key is assigned to your Numpad Enter (In console, KP_ENTER). Once you assign the key to your own liking, you can toggle your disguiser on or off at any moment's notice.

Radio Commands: These are commands that are kept in the Suit Zoom menu that, when activated, put an automated message in chat with the target being under your crosshair. There is a quicker way to do these commands without having to bind a key to suit zoom. This is how.

bind "[keybind]" "ttt_radio yes"
This prints "Yes." in chat.

bind "[keybind]" "ttt_radio no"
This prints "No." in chat.

bind "[keybind]" "ttt_radio help"
This prints "Help!" in chat.

bind "[keybind]" "ttt_radio imwith"
This prints "I'm with [target]" in chat.

bind "[keybind]" "ttt_radio see"
This prints "I see [target]." in chat.

bind "[keybind]" "ttt_radio suspect"
This prints "[Target] acts suspicious." in chat.

bind "[keybind]" "ttt_radio innocent"
This prints "[Target] is innocent." in chat.

bind "[keybind]" "ttt_radio traitor"
This prints "[Target] is a traitor!" in chat.

bind "[keybind]" "ttt_radio check"
This prints "Anybody still alive?" in chat.
Vanilla Weapons - Slots 1-5
Slot 1
Crowbar - This is your default weapon. You are unable to drop this weapon. The crowbar is useful for close range combat and does 20 damage on each hit, even on headshots. This weapon is most effective when the target is badly wounded and unaware targets. You should not use this weapon to charge at the target, as this risks you getting killed by your target. The crowbar compares to the vanilla Knife, 50 damage on hit, also a melee weapon.

Slot 2

Pistol - The pistol is a semi-automatic sidearm that carries a 20 round magazine with a max ammo capacity of 60 rounds. The pistol uses 9mm ammo. The pistol is useful when your primary weapon's clip is empty. The pistol is good from a medium-short range to a medium-far range and varies damage; average = 20, headshots about 40-65. This weapon is accurate, making it somewhat effective against long-range shots. This weapon is ineffective against M16s, and Shotguns.

Glock - The glock is a fully-automatic sidearm that carries a 20 round magazine with a max ammo capacity of 60 rounds. The glock uses 9mm rounds. This weapon is effective to use when you do not have a primary or your primary weapon's magazine runs out. The Glock varies damage, average being about 15; headshots 30. The weapon has medium recoil, making it ineffective for long range shots. However, it is effective for short range and medium range firefights. It is also effective against unsuspecting targets under Wounded status.

Deagle - The Desert Eagle is a semi-automatic sidearm that carries an 8 round magazine with a max ammo capacity of 36 rounds. The Deagle uses "Deagle ammo" as specified in the game. This weapon is effective for short range to medium range shots taking an average damage count of 40. Headshots are always an instant kill, however the high recoil and inaccuracy of this weapon makes this ineffective against moving targets with automatic guns or shotguns. Very useful against stationary or unaware targets. The Deagle has a very loud and well known sound, and alerts other innocents nearby. On some maps, this gun is hard to obtain.

Slot 3

Shotgun - The shotgun is a semi-automatic primary weapon that carries an 8 round magazine with a max ammo capacity of 24 rounds. The shotgun uses "Shotgun ammo" as specified in the game. The shotgun is effective for short to medium range against unsuspecting targets or in firefights with targets using semi-auto weapons. Headshots are always an instant kill, however there is a lot of bullet spread so close range is mandatory for obtaining a headshot. Ideally, shotguns deal about 50 damage during firefights. This gun has a slow reloading speed, so taking out targets quickly is a priority. This gun pairs up nicely with the deagle, so have that on you when using the shotgun. This gun is very ineffective for long range shots, as there is a lot of bullet spread.

Rifle - The Rifle is a bolt-action sniper rifle that carries a 10 round magazine with a max ammo capacity of 20 rounds. The Rifle uses "Rifle Ammo" as specified in the game. The sniper rifle is effective with long range shots, however closer targets require more skill to take out. Headshots are an instant kill, however it requires skill and patience to obtain a headshot. The Rifle can also be used against stationary or unaware targets for an up-close headshot. Note that the Rifle is a loud weapon that will alert innocents nearby. This gun is ineffective during combat and should only be used as a stealth option. Discretion is advised when you approach a firefight with a Rifle. This weapon pairs up with the Glock as a sidearm for close-range combat when your opponent gets too close.

M16 - The M16 is a fully-automatic assault rifle that carries a 20 round magazine with a max ammo capacity of 60 rounds. The M16 uses 9mm ammo, so be cautious when using with either the Pistol or the Glock as they will take up the 9mm ammo. This gun is effective against short-range to long-range targets dealing about 20 damage per shot. Combining the damage per shot with the rounds per second makes this weapon ideal for medium range combat. Due to the recoil of the M16, this weapon is ineffective against long range shots. Headshots deal about 50 to 60 damage. This weapon is the ideal weapon for combat. Discretion is advised when using for stealth.

Mac10 - The Mac10 is a fully automatic Sub-Machine Gun that carries a 30 round magazine with a max ammo capacity of 60 rounds. The Mac10 uses SMG ammo. Due to its extremely high rate of fire, the Mac10 is effective at close range or against unsuspecting medium range targets, however the same reason causes the gun's inaccuracy for long-range shots. This gun has a pretty low damage, about an average of 11 to 22 per hit. This weapon is useful during close quarters combat against the shotgun and against all pistols. Headshots are not instant kills, but they do increase the damage by about 40. This is the ideal weapon if you are planning to be inside a small, enclosed area for a while.

H.U.G.E. - The HUGE is a fully automatic LMG that carries a 150 round magazine. You cannot reload with this weapon. The only ammo this gun uses is the ammo currently in the gun, so use it wisely. Due to the HUGE's high rate of fire, this gun is effective in close quarters combat. Due to high recoil and low damage per hit, this gun is not reccommended for a stealth option, as this gun does not instantly kill targets upon headshots. The preferred strategy to use this gun with is the Distraction Method or Rambo Method, but can also be used with your own strategies that do not require stealth. Very useful when massacring a very tight space. Expect to be killed or called out when using this weapon. Make sure to kill everyone in the vicinity.

Slot 4

Discombobulator - When this grenade explodes, it pushes other players. This grenade is useful when thrown outside or on a hazardous bridge or ledge to push players off and kill them. Ineffective when used inside closed areas except to mess up someone's aim.

Incindiary Grenade - When this grenade explodes, it lets out an initial explosion harming players greatly, then fire surrounds the area doing additional damage to those that are near. This grenade is effective to stop people from following you; for example, throw it in the door way and then enter or in the stairway when you go up. It is also useful for trapping people inside buildings or just burning them entirely and killing them. This grenade is treasured by traitors, but can be helpful for innocents too.

Smoke Grenade - When this grenade explodes, it lets out a cloud of thick smoke that limits vision. This is useful for Traitors when they want to kill in the confusion and escape unnoticed. This works when they throw the smoke grenade inside a small room and continue to kill. Also effective when escaping a traitor as an innocent. You can throw a smoke and venture off without that person even knowing.

Slot 5

Magneto Stick - This picks up bodies and objects. Right click picks up bodies and/or physics objects in the map. As a traitor, you can pick up a body and left click on a surface to hang it. This stick is useful hiding bodies as traitor or barricading yourself in a room as an innocent.
Vanilla Weapons - Slots 6-9
Slot 6

Holster Weapon - Use this to holster your weapons and show that you will not shoot anyone. This is to gain trust for every class, even though detectives should always have their guns out. Usually, players tell other players to holster if they don't trust them. Be careful if you are a T and are told to holster, as pulling out your gun will risk your death.

Slot 7

Knife The knife on most servers is an instant kill, but on other servers it only instant kills Wounded players. After killing someone with the knife, the player will leave a 2:00 DNA trace timer on the body for Detectives to find and scan. Use discretion and make sure to hide bodies after killing them.

Silenced Pistol The Silenced Pistol is mostly used when being stealthy, and taking out targets without a sound. A common misconception is that the silenced pistol is, in fact, silent. However, if someone is close enough, they can hear a faint yet distinct noise. The silenced pistol is not reccommended for use during a gunfight; you should only use the Silenced Pistol to take out unaware targets. Most effective when shooting someone in the back or in the head. Limb shots do not do much damage. This gun does not have much recoil, and has the same amount of ammo as the Pistol.

WORK IN PROGRESS! This is not all of the vanilla weapons. I am currently running experiments and damage tests and the like to provide the most accurate report on the weapon.
Other Weapons [COMMUNITY]
This section is reserved for weapons that are not Vanilla. This is purely dependant on the server and community opinion. Get your favorite weapon in here with a good description and some tips of when to use it.

SG-552
Automatic, uses rifle ammo, but isn't as good at long as the scout, but is the best for medium range combat, I guess it kills in 2 headshots, it has a 20 bullet Magazine, and it has a Scope.
Good for all-around being a Marksman, and a good alternative to the AUG.

73 Winchester
A rifle that you have to have REALLY good accuracy with.
if you dont, you are as good as dead but if you do then you can easily win gunfights
it has i think a 12 bullet mag, could potentially kill in 1-2 headshots tops
General Tips and Tricks
These tips go for all players of TTT

Player Models and Accessories
Servers with pointshops usually have Player models and Accessories avaliable to use. However, the only problem with them is that they make you easily identifiable. Here are some tips to avoid these kind of situations.
-SWITCH PLAYERMODELS AND ACCESSORIES OFTEN. Doing this will assure that if anyone with your accessories or playermodel is called out that you are not mistaken as them. Building this habit can increase your chances of living longer and possibly decieving the innocents if you are a traitor.
-TAKE OFF ACCESSORIES AND PLAYERMODELS WHEN NEEDED. For example, if you want to blend in with the crowd or seem like a totally harmless individual, take off your vanity items. This will make you much harder to identify, especially if your hunter is a long ways away.
A trick and caution regarding playermodels - People with the same playermodel can be diffrentiated because of the color they have their Playermodel Color set to in sandbox. For example, if I have set my color to blue while in sandbox, then join TTT and choose an HL2 playermodel (and possibly others too), I will show up having blue clothes. Same thing if it was set to red, orange, pink, green, yellow, etc.

Getting distracted
You can easily get distracted during the course of the round; things like breaking walls or objects, looking into corners or looking straight down, using health stations, etc. This renders you vulnerable to getting killed by Ts. You should always have your gun out looking every direction to ensure that you are alert, paying attention, and ready to fight. You do not want to be caught off guard.

Using the health station
You should never be distracted. Using the HP Station is a very common distraction. To use the HP station effectively, follow this simple rule of thumb:

Always look around while using the HP station. Looking straight down or straight in one direction is a bad decision as it leaves you vulnerable to a knife, shotgun, or other kinds of death. Instead, crouch directly on top of the Station and hold E. It works the same way and gives you some awareness too.

Breaking walls/glass/boxes/etc.
Usually, maps like ttt_minecraft_b5 and the like have walls you can break through providing convenience in travel. While it seems useless to break walls just for convenience, it can also be an escape route or a way to leave if you get cornered. However, walls take a while to break and you need to be aware at all times. Here are a couple things you can do to help:

ALWAYS LOOK AROUND! After one or two crowbar swings, make sure no one is behind you.

MAKE SURE NO ONE IS AROUND! You cannot always know who to trust, unless it's a D or Proven Innocent. You need to make sure that if someone is around, you have to keep your eye on them and try to discourage a fight by moving around.

HAVE A DETECTIVE OR PROVEN WATCH YOUR BACK! This option is not always possible, but it helps to have someone on guard and warning you if someone is coming.

Moving bodies or objects with the Magstick
This renders you vulnerable because you don't have your gun out. First off, if you are innocent, you should not be moving bodies because you are disturbing a crime scene and there is no benefit to you whether the body is here or there. But if you need to move objects that are key to the game (Like the golden block in ttt_minecraft_b5), then you need someone watching your back. There is no other tip other than always look around or pull out your gun every once and a while.

Searching Unidentified Bodies
This is another very common vulnerablility to get you killed. If you check a body for too long, you risk getting shot at. Here are some ways to prevent getting killed.

PUSH E TWICE! Make sure that when you search the body, only search it to see who it was. Then you can HOLD TAB and click on the person's name and see their death info.
Then GO TO A SAFE PLACE to study the death info, including the list of kills, time of death, DNA, and weapon used.

Or, you can HAVE SOMEONE ELSE CHECK THE BODY to identify it, then later you can search it real quick and study the death info via TAB.

Blood Patterns and Bullet Holes
This may seem trivial, but it has helped me recreate scenes and eventually track down traitors. And, actually, blood patterns in-game are quite accurate as to what would happen in real life - Darker blood means more blood was projected onto the surface (also, could mean dryness, but decals don't change ingame.), blood trails are in effect, blood spatters behave correctly, etc. To see patterns, blood spatters, and interesting vocabulary and good-to-know info, go
here[www.crime-scene-investigator.net]

Some tips:
-Dark, large blood pools on the floor with no sign of a body means that a body has been killed there but have been moved after a while (after victim lost all of the blood.)

-Dark marks on the floor next to blood show that a body has been burned

-After being shot, blood doesn't only spurt in the direction opposite of which they were shot (an exit wound), but victims also leave blood trails as they are dripping blood.

-Blood on the floor and not on the walls likely means someone fell at that spot. If someone claims to have fallen and they are around that area, they might be telling the truth.

-Shotguns leave a LOT of blood, especially in exit wounds. Consider not going around that area to not arouse suspicion -- even if the body is hidden, the blood caused by a shotgun is overt.

-Likewise, Knives cause a lot of passive blood (refer to link), so make sure if you move the body that you watch out for blood trails.

-After being shot, you slowly drip blood. Duration depends on how much blood you lost. Each drop of blood is equal to ~15-20 health points lost.

Bullet holes can help determine what weapon was used in the battle, show the killer's accuracy, and help you recreate the scene and see possible exit points in which you can use to follow the killer. Traitors, you better use this knowledge to your advantage -- and as a warning.

Tips and Tricks for Innocents
The Innocents are people who try to find and kill traitors. You are more likely to be innocent than a traitor or a detective. As such, the people you are next to have a good chance to be innocent too. Most innocents are found cowering in a corner, but some try to be detectives. As long as you do it right, you can find the traitors in no time.

Chances of being innocent
You have a 3 in 4 chance to be innocent.

Preventing instant death
People always complain that they keep getting killed at the beginning of the round. Of course, it has nothing to do with being innocent; rather, it has something to do with your situational awareness. This section of the guide will tell you how to prevent things like this from happening to you.

Look behind you every once and a while. You can never know if someone is following you if you never look. If someone is following you for a while, one of two things can happen
  1. He is just simple innocent wanting to stick with someone to avoid being picked off or
  2. He is a traitor looking for an opportunity to take you out
You should put suspicion on them and try to keep your distance from them until they give you a reason to trust them. Also, you can ask him to stop following you. If he persists, chances are he is a traitor.

Keep the barrels of other people's gun pointed away from you. This is simple: where ever they are pointing their guns, just walk to the side. You have to keep guns pointed away from you at all times in order to make sure that you are not shot by one. If they keep trying to look at you (especially when standing still), you are probably best to avoid that person for a while -- he might be a T.

Always keep moving. A moving target is harder to hit than a stationary one. This goes hand in hand when you are in close range with someone. You have to keep moving to discourage gunfights.

Stay out of private, small, enclosed areas. If someone follows you there, that is a perfect opportunity for them to strike!

Strategies

The Backseat Detective
Only works if there are 8 or more players and the detective dies.
The Backseat Detective is the innocent that picks up the DNA scanner. Automaticlly. However, the Backseat Detectives aren't always innocent, so you want to be the one who picks it up. The first thing the backseats do is yell "Okay, guys! I have the DNA scanner". This will most likely end up a grave with your name on it. Traitors try to eliminate the people with the DNA scanner so that they do not have to worry about DNA (Great strategy). To prevent this, simply stay quiet and away from people you do not trust. If you see a body with DNA on it, calmly & quietly get the DNA and see where it leads you. BEWARE: If you get too close to a Traitor or follow them for too long, they may get suspisious and kill you. If you find the Traitor and you can get a clear shot, call them out first and then kill them.

Albert Einstein
This method does not always work.
Albert Einsteins are the innos that gather as much information as possible (Cause of death, Time of death, Weapons used (both cases, the victim's & the killer's), the way the body is positioned since ragdoll effects would show that the bullet propelled the body, etc.) and use this to find the traitors. Examples are:

Time of Death:
Use this to determine when the victim died, and when the body was found. If the body was found a couple seconds after he died, chances are, the finder is the Traitor. You can also use this in snipeing situations. For example, everyone except for 4 or 5 people are in a certain position. One of you gets sniped. You search the body. 1 minute and 16 seconds later, someone comes by. Search the body again. If the person that came by at that time range has a sniper, and says "What" after you question him where he was, shoot him instantly.

Cause of Death:
This is where it says if it was a headshot, falling, shot to death, blunt object, whatever. If it says it was a headshot, chances are that the killer is a marksman and is a very accurate shooter. The guns that a marksman would have: Sniper, Shotgun, M16. Least likely a HUGE. The killer will be carrying one of those weapons (even though he may have dropped the murder weapon)

Gun that was used for murder:
If the killer used a shotgun, rule out everyone that has a shotgun unless you find a shotgun near the body. Chances are, the killer dropped the gun to avoid getting caught. If you suspect that the dropped gun was used for murder, call a detective to it and see if you can get DNA off of it (you can if it was dropped recently, but you must also take into consideration that someone else other than the killer may have dropped it). Most traitors that play TTT usually are in it for the body count, which means this traitor has no clue how to rid evidence. If you find that this traitor is not trying to hide evidence, go ahead and rule out everyone who does not have the murder weapon.

I use the Albert Einstien method all the time, and I STILL get called for RDM. Use caution when using this method and use ALL evidence instead of just going for one. Also, when you kill the tater tot, prepare an explanation (or just say you were a detective in disguise, but dont say you had DNA. Admins can see if you had DNA or not.).

Cowardly Innocent
This is surprisingly not a very common technique. This is how you do it...
1. Hide in a room and make sure no one knows you are there.
2. Wait till someone has been KOSed, or if you suspect you are the only one alive and surrounded by traitors
3. Either wait until time runs out or get some balls and avenge your innocent buddies.

Explaination:
What you are doing is making the traitors reveal themselves by killing all but you. Then when they find you, you kill them instantly. It is actually a pretty good way to win the game, however note that it also is considered stalling the round if people see it that you are sitting doing absolutly nothing, so make sure you look like you are doing something.

Manipulator
This method is where you ask trick questions and getting others to doubt and suspect the person and eventually killing them. Questions you can ask are:
"Why haven't I seen you all game" <-- This makes people suspisous because they may suspect he was out killing or hiding bodies

"Why do you have a [gun he is holding" [i] <-- What you are doing is making others doubt his credibility because of the gun he is holding. It may have been used in a murder. [/i]

"Wasn't someone talking to you before he died?" <-- Self explanitory

"Why are you injured?" <-- Very common phrase, however, you say this and then "I think its because you were shooting someone with that [gun] of yours." to lower credibility of the suspect.

"I HEARD THAT, [name]!!!" <-- Lowers suspect's credibility. Chances are, the suspect will deny all.

This method is very effective. I like to visualize a "Credibility Meter". Keep lowering their credibility and they will either kill you for asking too many questions (so be careful) or they will get suspisious enough to kill. That's why I use this all the time. Note that you can be accusing an innocent, so try using evidence first. This method is basicly you bluff them into revealing themselves, doing something stupid and KOSable, or simply just lower their credibility and make them the biggest suspect to kill in Overtime.

That's it for the innocents. Hoped this helped you into winning as an innocent and making it a little bit more fun. Want to suggest more in this section? Put it in the comments! Moving on!
Tips and Tricks for Traitors (PART 1)
The traitors try to kill the innocents, however, they are extremely outnumbered. They need to kill without being noticed, or they risk being Public Enemy #1 which makes killing innocents a difficult task.

Chances of being Traitor
The chances of you being a trator is 1 out of 4

-DON'T ACT INNOCENT! People will know you are faking it. You don't act innocent when you are innocent, because you know you are innocent. As a traitor, know you are a traitor. Deny accusations? Meh. Try avoiding accusations by killing without witnesses.

-Stick with the crowd. Gain their trust. Remember, you know you are a traitor, but others don't. So, they might suspect you for a while, but innocents usually stick together. You know what that means. Stick together. Gain trust. And once they trust you enough, pick 'em off one by one or work with your traitor buddies to snipe the innocents by you, and in the confusion stab them in the back.

-DO NOT ACT SILENT! Only do this when you are caught, and you are trying to fake your death. If you are trying to act as if you are dead at the beginning of the round, then you will be dead at the beginning of the round.

Methods

The Triggerhappy Killer
This is a very common method. Some people like to waste their traitor round by killing all in sight. If you like to act like this is COD, or you just like to cause confusion, then this is for you. Basicly, right when you get traitor, start shooting. Guns blazing. Hopefully, you get some kills. Otherwise, you just wasted a T-Round you may never get back.

The Puppetmaster
Just like the Innocent Manipulator, you are trying to get the Innocents to kill each other. However, unlike the manipulator, you are trying to NOT kill the traitors. So, lower credibility in INNOCENTS not TRAITORS.
What you want to do is to...
1. Stir suspision on others to where they are paranoid enough to get trigger happy. That's where your job starts. Note, do not go over the "trigger happy" stage, or they will know you are just trying to pull their strings to your will. Don't try to get them to kill right off the bat. Keep them at a trigger happy stage, and once that is done...
2. Stir some trouble. Kill someone and frame someone else. Remember to either quickly switch primaries or switch to your pistol. It is easy to deny that you have had the primary used in the murder.
3. Blame someone that had the same gun as you for murdering someone else. Of course, he is going to deny it, but assuming they are already trigger happy, they will get suspisious just by hearing him deny everything.
4. Sit back and watch the show. Someone is going to end up KOSing the unfortunate soul that you have framed. And once they kill that person, they are going to kill the person KOSing him in the first place, or they will kill the person killing the innocent and the show goes on. It's all a chain reaction and soon, the numbers will even out making it easy to kill without being seen.

The Bomber
This method is for those that know how to work C4 and calculate when to blow it up. You need to accurately plan the detonation time of the C4 and make sure that no one hears it. This method works better on maps with popular places, such as the Traitor Tester or outside the T room.
1. At the beginning of the round, buy C4 and a teleporter. The teleporter is optional, but can save your life.
2. Before you do anything, find a place that no one goes to and set your Teleporter ensuring your saftey in the game. This is important, because when you teleport, a white mark gets left on the ground indicating someone either teleport from that spot, or to that spot.
3. Plant the C4 at a popular place. You might want to wait to do this step until you know that people are arriving to that area, but BEFORE they actually get there. This will give you some time to calculate the nessicary time to explode it right when the unlucky players get there.
4. This might seem awkward, but do not teleport right away. As I mentioned before, there is a little mark on the ground that signifies teleportation. Instead, walk away to a place that no one would suspect and then teleport. You need to make sure no one hears the teleporter and that no one finds the mark. This will create suspision among the innocents and give you an alibi that you were never down there. If they found the mark, you will be included as suspicious.
5. As much as you want to be a badass and see how many people you got with your C4, you need to remember that innocents can't see through walls, nor can they see the amount of time left on a C4 unless they are up close and personal with it (explosion distance). So you need to NOT watch the fireworks and only turn if you are willing to go over and investigate the sound like an innocent. Walking away also is a bit suspicious.

TIPS
-C4 makes a beeping sound loud enough to alert nearby innocents. The longer the timer is on the C4, the softer the sound gets. Make sure to plan accordingly
-You can easily block out the sound of C4 with your voice. Don't make it obvious by yelling into your michrophone, but just start asking people things like "why are we all down here" or "there's someone missing."
-You can buy multiple C4s as long as you have credits and an open 7th slot. Try putting C4 in 2 different places.

RIPeace and Quiet
This is a strategy that I use all the time. This is ideal with 15+ players on the server and very entertaining to do.
1. Buy a silenced pistol and a disguiser
2. Make sure you have the disguiser bound to a key to be able to activate it with the push of a button. To do this, type this command in console:
bind [KEY TO PUSH HERE] "ttt_toggle_disguiser"
and do NOT forget the quotes. Now when you push that button, your name, karma status, health, and all other stats that show when other players mouse over you will not show. It will be like mousing over ammo or a gun (on vanilla servers).
3. Now, with the ability to be anonomous, you may kill with your Silenced Pistol with ease. Before you do anything, however, turn on your disguiser and pull out your Silenced Pistol BEFORE approaching your target because either one of these situations may occur
a) Someone sees you with a silenced pistol and your name because you forgot your disguiser
b) You pull out your SP next to your target. This is bad because the sound the gun makes when pulled out is LOUD and will alert nearby innocents.
4. Start killing anonomously!

The Detective Magnet
This method is simply to attract the detective(s) and kill 'em.
1. Kill someone or use the Puppeteer method to have someone else do so.
2. Call a detective to the body.
3. Wait for the detective to search the body, rendering him vulnerable
4. KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL!!!!
5. Continue the game with another method or repeat until all detectives are dead.

Note that some detectives may have read this guide and I am actually putting advice not to go to called bodies on certain occasions later in the guide. Be careful.

Sniper
Simple. Snipe all the innocents.
1. Pick a spot.
2. Snipe a couple unfortunate innocents.
3. DON'T FORGET TO MOVE POSITIONS! Chances are that the place will have been called out causing mayhem. This is actually a good way to start a Puppeteer method. Remember that after every couple kills to move spots.
4. If need be, quit sniping, get another gun, and continue with another method. If not, keep sniping 'till you win or you die.

Tips and Tricks for Traitors (PART 2)
Traitor Testing
Many traitors will be asked to test. This puts them in an awkward situation where if you leave, it is traitorous and if you test, then you are out of commission. It's a lose lose situation. However, the innocents are all fine and dandy about testing!

Strategies Against Traitor Testing
When a traitor is asked to test, chances are it's going to be by an unconfirmed innocent. To get out of this situation, tell them that you don't trust them enough to test with them. Also state that you will only test in the presence of a Detective or a Proven Innocent. This will lower the suspision as you deny the effort to test.
But what if they are Proven, or even worse, a Detective? That's where things get tricky. Hopefully, you have a credit avalible for a disguiser, because you are going to need it.

Right when a Detective tells everyone to test, usually saying something like "Let's all get tested" or "PARTY AT THE TESTER!", buy a disguiser and/or a teleporter. Set a teleportation spot (preferrably the Traitor-Room) and/or enable your disguiser. As long as that detective is alive, you need to have that on. Now, with your disguiser on, make your way through the crowd and somehow kill the detective. If you are a solo traitor, you might have a credit for a Silenced Pistol or a Knife (see Weapons). If not, you need to get creative. Remember, no one will see your name with the disguiser on, so you can just take 'em out and run off (and if applicable, use your teleporter) and don't forget to pick up the DNA scanner or remember who does pick it up and mark them as kill. Now, with the detective dead, focus on the proven innocents as much as possible and discourage the use of testing, for example, there is a C4 at the tester or there is a lot of gunfire.

By killing a detective, you get one credit. I suggest using it for a Radio and put it in the Traitor Tester room (somewhere hidden). If people want to test, discourage it with your radio (most likely the C4 option).

Traitor Tester Advantages
Innocents want to get proven as soon as possible. This can serve to your advantage if you play your cards right. There are risks to testing and pro players know this. For example, on ttt_minecraft_b5, the traitor tester has a "Kill this person" button that anyone can press to kill the person inside the T-Tester. That can serve as an instant kill option for a traitor to do.
On MinecraftCity, you need 3 people to test. If there is a traitor among them, you have to guess which one it is. On this map, just prevent 3 people from agreeing to test by using the Manipulator strategy or placing a radio and using the C4 option.
On 67th way, the traitor tester takes a long time... long enough to throw a smoke grenade or incindiary grenade and kill everyone inside the room including the testee (While doing this, it is recommended to use a Disguiser).

Luring Detectives

Detectives are the most important players in the game for finding the Traitors. This can serve as a roll-back for the Traitors. The detectives need to be taken out of commission as soon as possible to ensure the that Traitors are victorious. But what if you can't find the Detective to take them out? You will have to be able to lure detectives successfully in order to deal with them.

DO
  • Call them to a body - Detectives like to find Ts, so they will not hesitate to visit dead bodies.
  • Use a radio - Detectives have body armor, and they can stand gunfights.
  • Tell them to test you - More proven innocents mean better odds against the Traitors.
  • Ask them to come to you to help out in a gunfight - Detectives are helpers, no questions asked.
  • Ask for a health station, or where one is - Detectives are usually by their HP Stations.
  • Gain the trust of the Detective - Ask for things like a Defuser, Binoculars, or tell them you are proven.
  • Call someone out that is MIA and ask the D for help - Innocents/Detectives cannot see who is MIA and that person is not going to deny anything. Make sure you are shooting with all the weapons you have to make it sound like a gunfight.

DON'T
  • Ask to talk to them - This is a dead giveaway. Use your mic to talk with them or type.
  • Ask to give them a weapon of any kind, including T-Weps - This is very suspisious.
  • Tell them to come to you and not provide a reason - Again, very suspisious. Always provide a reason.
  • Make up lies left and right - You will trip up somewhere.
  • Call someone out and ask the D for help - Chances are, the person you call out is going to deny it and say "False KOS!" or "I did nothing" (Unless you are good with manipulation).

Being suspected
There are ways to gain the trust of innocents as you pick them off. Here are a couple strategies.

Blame a dead person. Of course, you want to make sure that they are Missing In Action [MIA] so that you are not KOSing someone who has been confirmed dead.
Step One is to kill someone. Make it an easy target - someone who is AFK, away from everyone else, or something else.
Step Two is to either burn the body with your flare gun or hide it where no one can see it (traitor room, off the map, etc.)
Step Three When you kill someone, blame it on your first victim who no one will find. Keep shooting until either you win or your cover is blown.

Sometimes, the best thing to do is nothing. Just let the innocents shoot each other and then when you are ready, shoot the last ones.

More coming soon! Reccomend your strategy in the comments and I will add it!
Tips and Tricks for Detectives
The Detectives are the most important people to the innocents. They are the key to finding the Ts for the innocents.

LEARN TO USE THE DNA SCANNER

The scanner is the most important and vital tool in TTT. Detectives that don't know how to use it can be frustrating. This is a lesson on how to use the DNA Scanner.

Getting DNA on Bodies

People will be killed. That is obvious. The person that kills them will leave a trace of their DNA on their victim. It is up to the D to use the scanner and find out who killed that person. However, the DNA does not last long, so the D needs to book it to the body before the DNA fades away. Once you have DNA off a body, usually, it will scan on its own and repeat. If it doesn't, right click with your scanner, check that the Auto-Repeat is ticked, and that you hit "Scan" under the big green 100% bar. It is that simple.
NOTE: Ts that kill people from a far enough area don't leave DNA on bodies! It just depends on how close the killer was to the victim. If you were sniped from across the map, then you will have no DNA on your body.

Getting DNA off of C4

Yes, you can get DNA off of C4. The thing is, it must be Disarmed first. The least risky way to disarm C4 is to use the defuser (Buy it from the Shop. Equip it, then left click on the C4. Ta-da!). After you have disarmed the C4, you must use your DNA scanner and Left Click on it. Once you left click, there won't be an indicator for DNA. You must manually go into the DNA options. Do you remember how to do it for bodies? Let's see if you are right. Answer: You right click, and click scan under the big bar. Were you right? Good! You were paying attention! Next lesson!

Getting DNA off of weapons
This is not very effective, but it can happen and could come in pretty useful. Basically, left click on any weapon that has been dropped. Anyway, you get DNA the same way you get it from C4. You right click, and click scan under the big bar. However, you need to know that it tracks the last person that picked up the weapon. It might not even be the Killer's weapon. Like I said, very ineffective, but it could come in handy.
[EDIT BY HEISENBURGER: The dna scanner puts every DNA sample of people who picked up a weapon. So if a traitor dropped a traitor weapon and an innocent brought it to you then in the DNA scanner tab it shows both samples. The last one who held it gets tracked though.]

Tips and Tricks as a Spectator
Yes, you can learn a lot as a spectator, so long as you do not look for the wrong thing. Here are a couple things you can do as a spectator to help you in future plays.

Study the map
Studying the map by flying around and looking around is the best way to learn how to get around, especially if you are new to the map. Even if you are familiar with it, you can map out future escape routes, possible back-door points (where you can ambush someone), and even remember where the traitor tester is so you are not the one that gets killed on suspicion for not testing.

Study someone's moves
Chances are, if you are a T, you will act differently than if you were an innocent. If you study someone's moves for a long time, you can see patterns that can tell you whether or not someone is acting a bit... Traitorous!

How to know the Nether Trap has been activated
There is a tricky little trap traitors can trigger from the map's Traitor Room in the center of the map. In the T room, there is a button by a body incinerator (deletes a body. Costs one credit) that causes the next person that enters the nether to get launched instantly into lava with no chance to live.
This seems like an unfair and unavoidable traitor-trap. It's not. There are a few ways to get around it. First and foremost and probably the easiest: DON'T GO INTO THE NETHER But this is not always the best option (as traitors will inevitably camp the nether). You need to go into the nether as safely as possible and not risk dying because of a T trap that gives you 0 chance to survive. There are ways to get past this.

Throw a grenade through the nether portal. If the trap is not activated, the grenade will go through the nether portal teleporting into the nether normally as a player would when they step into the portal.; the grenade will then explode in the nether. However, if the trap is activated, the grenade will NOT teleport to the nether and instead go past the portal and explode in the ocean behind it. This method is very effective for knowing when the traitor trap has been activated, however it could be very dangerous for the people inside the nether if the trap was not activated.

Use your magneto stick to put an object through the nether portal. If the trap is not activated, the object will go through the nether portal and teleport into the nether normally as a player would when they step into the portal. However, if it is active, the object will not teleport to the nether at all; it will stay on your magneto stick. Try not to get too close to the nether portal. It also works when you slide the object through the portal from the side of the portal. Slide up against the fence and let the object either go to the nether, or pass the portal.
It is easier to find ammo and blocks (bricks, diamond, or gold blocks) to use to do this, but it also works with minecarts.

NOTE: When the trap gets activated, all objects that could go through the nether portal will not go through, even after someone gets killed by the trap.[/b] Since the trap is only a Single-Use trap, you need to make sure that you are not the first to go into the nether if the trap has been activated. This is to ensure that the trap has been used on someone else and that you are safe to traverse into the nether.
Things to note:
-Make sure you remember who goes into the nether first and mark them Missing. That way, you can remind yourself that they are dead and that's one less person to worry about the lifecheck. If you see them in the nether, unmark them as missing.
-Always go into the nether second, even if you don't suspect a T-Trap.
-Build a habit of keeping objects like ammo, minecarts, and blocks nearby to try to put into the nether. This will inform you of an unexpected T-Trap kill.[/i]

Honorable Mentions
{The Black Swordsman}
I'd also suggest that they work on getting really good with maybe 3 weapons. Don't try and be a jack of all trades. Chances are, they can find at least one of those three. If you can get good at one weapon, especially the regular rifle at close range, they are a huge asset. For me, these are the rifle, the ak, and the ump. Just find your weapons and stick with them.
[EDIT BY GAMER Z: For vanilla TTT, I'd reccomend the shotgun and the rifle of all weapons, maybe even the Mac10. Very good suggestion, I reccomend it]

(Rice, Extra Eggs)
Another tip that works for me is that if a server has cosmetics (Hats, masks, etc.) buying a disguiser won't really work because they will remember your cosmetic. So, after using the disguiser, find a safe location (Traitor room) and switch hats. This will make you less suspicious, because they'll think "oh, he has a different hat, he didn't do it!"

(Numbuscus)
Another tip is that in ttt_minecraftcity_dark you can activate Traitor rooms. Most servers don't have koses for going in the Traitor rooms. You can activate it with the torch next to the lava trap underground. Another way to get in the T room is the castle. The small hill has a mushroom that can open the T room. The creeper trap can also be activated. There are 6 breakable blocks leading to a mossy cobblestone area. There is a mushroom. Press E on it and it will activate the creeper trap.

(The Renegadist)
When people ask me to T-test I decline it even if I am an innocent, if the people don't threaten to kill you it takes some of the heat off when they know not to worry about asking you to test. This may seem like a dumb thing to do but it has saved me from being asked to test as a T because they know I don't test at all.

(Lord_Gaben)
Also if you have too many credits, feel free to donate them to your t or d buddies as it can be a lifesaver.

I just got back into playing ttt, and I remember there used to be a command that let me bring up the radio instead of needing to bind every part of the radio to a different key. Is there still a command for this? Or was it just the server I was playing on?
ReadycentGamingTTV  [author] Aug 8, 2016 @ 7:11pm
And I appreciate the feedback :D

@Gamer Z I just wanted give some thoughts on some of the mechanics.
ReadycentGamingTTV  [author] Aug 8, 2016 @ 6:14pm
Well, like I said, this guide is for those that want to know the base mechanics of the game and core details to look for. Even if the server doesn't allow for someone to kill on suspicion, you can still use some of these tricks for yourself to be one step ahead of the people you are playing with. And, besides, it's not all theories and psychology in this guide; there's also vocab definitions for the new people, how to use some of the guns, and other cool things

This isn't for everyone, and I understand that. The game is pretty simple when it comes down to it, but some people want to delve deeper into how to play more sophisticatedly.
iserit Aug 8, 2016 @ 5:53pm
@Gamer Z from what I played all you had to do was kill a traitor and say "PROVEN" and than your instantly free of being killed for suspition. Also on all the servers I have played on so far I have never seen anyone that was Detective do more than say people are proven, drop a health station, and by weapons and armor. However this is just what I have experinced so you may have played on severs that had a bigger focus on the detective mechanics of this gamemode
ReadycentGamingTTV  [author] Aug 8, 2016 @ 4:32pm
Well, some people don't use things like Time of Death or Last Seen because using those as a sole basis for killing someone can get one slain for kill on suspicion. The thing is, however, that people should pay more attention to those peices of evidence more because it can really give you a hint of who to look out for and who to trust. Even if you can't kill for it, you can use it to your advantage (ie. stalk your suspect, avoid your suspect, etc.)
iserit Aug 8, 2016 @ 3:54pm
is it me or is some that Karma and some of the other gameplay like time of death is almost not used/followed because they have such a low impact on gameplay
