Welcome to the Apocalypse!
The wasteland is an unforgiving teacher and none of our tools will be explained. This reference will help any farmer get familiar with the tools, friends, and enemies out there. I hit a wall on Y3 without knowing Ant Builders existed, wondering what I was stuck on. Don't give up!

Work in Progress - 12/2024
This guide is still awaiting cleanup, details, and pictures. Pardon the dust.

Fix the Camera - Highly Recommended
By default the camera centers on the player and aiming will move the camera in that direction. This does show more of the map without having to run around, but while aiming in any direction the camera will orbit around the player rather than re-centering. I personally found this disorienting once the screen gets busy although not everyone will find this as problematic. Try seeing the difference yourself. In the Settings under game-play, move the slider below "Camera Sensitivity" all the way to the left.

References
These resources were my initial reference points, but core systems have been overhauled since they were made or last updated. Major props to the earlier resource makers.

Surviving from Year 1 to 10
At the start of Year 1 there is very little we can do at our farmhouse other than kick off a new run or enjoy the freshly nuked wasteland aesthetic. We'll slowly acquire our upgrade currency, Cornucopias, but starting off there's no way to actually spend them.

We're not the only ones out in the wasteland thankfully, we've got some friends to go pick up. Once per run there will be a rescue to find but most importantly are the 5 Ant Builders and Cat Trader. These friendly faces will set up shop back at the farmhouse and finally let us spend Cornucopias on upgrades and stat improvements.

Starting Year 3, Weed Monsters have a chance to spawn in dense weeds around the farm
Starting Year 3, VegetaSkulls* spawn during Boss** fights and Elite*** camps
Starting Year 3, every run has a 50% chance to upgrade 1 camp to Elite, with every year after adding 100% for more. The elite unit will also give 2 nearby enemies shields.

* VegetaSkulls are invincible, but item upgrades (Harvest/Sow-Shield) can destroy them
** Boss VegetaSkulls glow Purple and float in straight lines
*** Elite camp VegetaSkulls glow Orange and swarm after the player

Near-Term: Rescue Camps & Ant Builders
Once per run there will be a rescue camp that spawn randomly in any Tier 2+ biome. This non-obvious camp looks like a tree with a nearby rock and a random rescue. Finding everyone, especially the Ant Builders, fills out our toolkit with essential stats and upgrades.

Long-Term: Collecting Cats & MegaCrop Statues

Cat Hoarding
The true endgame of Atomicrops is collecting and upgrading cats to unlock stat bonuses. These cats provide stat bonuses after collecting the matching plushie out in the wasteland. With 6 tiers of cats to find plushies of, collect, and upgrade this will take a lot of cornucopias. There is one final tier of cats without bonus stats or a plushie to find, 5 unique Top Tier cats, that will will unlock challenge shrines in front of the large broken statue.

Moth Sculptures
From Y8-10 the Moth vendor appears in the farmhouse field and will ask us to recover their MegaCrop statues/sculptures once per run. Collecting all 20 will fix up the statue garden, add flowers, and Moth will now float around happily. This also rewards +1% Luck and unlocks the Roll-Call achievement.

B I G - C A T
This is the final challenge Atomicrops has to offer, as well as the biggest stat reward in the game to match. Fixing the large broken statue will require us to collect and enable every Cat Shrine from Top Tier cats and then beat Year 10. Good luck!

The Daily Grind
Thriving in the Apocalypse
Each day we start on the Farm at dawn with a little bit of free time before moles start spawning.
Plant any initial seeds and get ready to head out into the wasteland. Once the day starts there's quite a lot happening with enemies firing bullets from multiple directions, bouncing giggly vegetables, and moles that just refuse to let you farm in peace.

At night things get worse with waves of bugs and rabbits coming to eat your crops forcing us balance fending off enemy waves while farming under pressure. After the last enemy wave timer ends a helicopter will take us to Town where we can trade our hard earned Cashews with Town Merchants or trade Roses with potential Spouses for upgrades.

Time Management
The primary resource in this game is time, with each day having a finite* length to collect seeds and upgrades from biomes before planting and harvesting them, so deciding where to go and how long to spend there is a zero-sum choice. We'll have 2 minutes of daylight buffered by XX seconds of Dawn and Dusk. Each night lasts a different amount of time, but starts at 60 seconds with an additional 30-40 seconds per wave of attacking enemies.

* Time can be added with multiple items and upgrades

Heart-Beets & Health Management
The second biggest resource is managing our player health, as recovering and increasing our health is initially a very slow process. HeartBeet seeds need to be planted and harvested to return lost health. Each individual HeartBeet harvested will restore X health, while a MegaCrop version will restore X. These seeds are a rare drop and the bullet-hell nature of enemies will get worse as years go by.

Getting Energized
As we complete farming tasks we'll fill up a meter that at 100% makes us faster at everything.
EnergizedDuration = 3 sec;
ComboDecay = 3 sec;
BoostWorkMult = 150% (0.5F);
Seasons: Spring to Nuclear Winter
Every day, enemies get 10% more health.

Seasonal Reward Changes
Each passing season has progressively better chances at getting higher tier rewards. This influences all loot chances over the course of the game from seed drops to higher tiers of store choices.

Playable Characters
We're starting the apocalypse as Lavender but we'll recover other farmers with different starting kits and tools. I recommend sticking with Lavender or Rye while getting familiar with mechanics, but they all bring a different set of trade-offs and you'll vibe with at least one of them.

Bunker Buddies
Lavender
Faster crop speed is awesome, plus it stacks with items and bees.

Rye
Having guaranteed mods makes picking up weapons in town less of a gamble. Great for picking up lower tier weapon rolls to get them over the "usable" hump.

Robusta
Exclusively for an achievement, good luck on Y10. Speeds up the entire game by 25% with no benefit.

Dandelion
Drifty movement isn't great for dodging bullets, but flying right from the start is worth trying. Starting with Cleats/Crampons also saves lots of time never needing to til soil or cut weeds.
Randomly over time a unique item called a Dandelion Puff can spawn, which both reduces drifting and gives 1 random farming or fighting stat. These are guaranteed while beating outer layer biome bosses.

Thyme
More time allow us to turnover crops and explore more than possible on any other character. Taking 3 hits in a day though and you might as well play someone else, don't sweat it.

Oregacrow
This funny bird has a couple unique things going on, starting with a completely unique crop upgrade system. Rather than biome specific seed drops, all seeds are turned into Corn/Rice/Tomato as determined by our upgradeable equipment Crow Eyes starting with Corn.
Harvesting a single crop will just give money, but harvesting a MegaCrop will reward the next tier of seeds going from Corn > Rice > Tomato > Oregano. Harvesting enough Corn/Rice/Tomatoes will fill up 3 cauldrons in town. Town crop cauldrons have 3 tiers of upgrades before breaking. All cauldrons have a small chance to offer boss items or Wormsy rolls.

Oregano replaces HeartBeats and no longer provide health on harvest, but instead fills a cauldron by our well. When full it allows us to pick between recovering 1-3 health or specific well upgrades.
Player Stats
All of our base stats are important, but Fighting/Farming/Luck are IMO the most impactful on a run to run basis. Building all of them up over time through upgrades will absolutely be felt, especially the first time you notice Bark Skin giving you a free hit. Every % counts.

Fighting - Move faster and improve multiple weapon characteristics.
  • Movement Speed
  • Damage
  • Fire Rate
  • Bullet Speed
  • Reload
Farming - Improve multiple aspects of farming.
  • Tilling Soil
  • Watering Crops
  • Watering Can Size
  • Harvest Radius
  • Cutting Weeds
  • Breaking Crust
  • Tractor Cooldown
Luck - Luck impacts multiple events but mostly improves the seed and fertilizer economy.
Bonus Mod - When buying a weapon, chance for 1* additional mod
Bark Skin - When damage would be taken, chance to block instead.
Beet Drop - When damage is taken, chance to drop a Heart Beet seed.
Jump-Start - Tractor charges have a chance to not be consumed on use.
Homing Pigeon - Scrolls have a chance to not be consumed on use.
Alien Pod (hidden) - When opening Abduction Pods, chance for an Alien Pet to be inside.

*Chance for 2 bonus mods on the Squirrel Launcher and Butcher's Knife with Alien Ant upgrades

Deervil Den
The Deervil's home is special as we can only enter and exit exactly once per run. While in the den time will stop and tractors won't recharge, giving us time to decide between the monkey-paw items on the table. I'd recommend holding off on entering until you have enough upgrades to overcome the item tradeoffs.

Marrying the Deervil
If the DLC is unlocked, both items are desired, and it's after Year X, we can hop around the table and present a Rose to the Deervil to propose to them. This will give us both items and swap the Nuclear Winter boss fight out for our wedding to the Deervil, without affecting potential spouses. This boss fight is a fun spin on the usual crop-harvesting affair, now with lovely-but-evil wedding decorations and unique attacks from the Deervil.

Trade for HeartBeet seeds that starts at 1 Rose each, rarely worth it.

OregaCrow Cauldrons
When playing as OregaCrow there will be 3 cauldrons where the Doctor usually is, and upon harvesting enough of each crop type will give Oregano tier rewards.

Growing Roses on the farm, we can gift roses in town to potential spouses for an item or heart seed. Each day there's a 50% chance for a HeartBeet seed instead of an item.

Roses & Spouses
The friendly faces in town are happy to join us, after a few (21) roses. It's not worth picking up undesired items unless you're collecting Spouses for Polygamy.

PeaShooter - Spud Rifle Jr
Our first weapon on every run through the apocalypse, the PeaShooter, is not very good. Mediocre stats with a short range leave the default version in a tough spot, but eventually we can make this workhorse much more reliable. Fully upgraded it's essentially a Spud Rifle Jr which makes it safer through extended range and less of a chore with improved DPS.

Arsenal of the Apocalypse
We always start off with the PeaShooter so any weapon we find can be an upgrade. Not every weapon roll is a good upgrade though, especially depending on the number of mods rolled. Some of the weapons don't need any mods to be good but a large chunk really need 1 or 2.

Biome Layers & Camp Tiers
Out in the wasteland is a mountain of loot defended by enemies of increasingly higher difficulty. It's up to us to carve a path through the surrounding biomes and make it back with enough time and seeds to jump-start our Cashew and Rose supplies.

Enemy Drops
Killing enemies drop a number of things, with some enemies having adjusted chances.
  • Fertilizer 0.XX%
  • Pickaxes 0.XX%
  • Seeds for Crops 0.XX%, HeartBeats 0.XX%, Roses 0.02%, and Trees 0.01%
  • Scrolls???
Camp Drops
Clearing camps will have a primary reward with additional loot drop chances.
  • Pickaxes
  • Seeds for Crops
  • Seeds for Roses, Heart Beats, and Trees
Biome Tiers
Each biome has a difficulty tier rating separate from the tier of camp types that can spawn in it, with inner layer biomes having a broken bridge into an outer layer that is larger and +2 tiers of difficulty. Higher tier biomes have tankier, faster, and more enemies in general.

Ant Builders
All of the ants are essential to filling out our tools and found while exploring the wasteland, but unlike normal rescues they can only spawn in certain biomes depending on how many you've rescued so far. It's worth grinding a bit to find all of the Ant Builders if you're getting stuck.

Rescue Location
1st Ant - layer 1 Jungle or Tundra
2nd Ant - layer 2 Desert or Plains
3rd Ant - layer 1 Tundra or Jungle
4/5 Ant - Any biome but layer 1 Desert or Plains

Upgrade Costs
Each Ant has 2 levels of upgrades. The first set of upgrades is specific to each Ant and contains core upgrades, while the second group is more expensive with less critical choices to make. The cost per upgrade will increase by a slightly different amount depending on the Ant.

Cats, Cats, Cats
After rescuing the Cat Trader we'll now be able to find and collect all of the cat plushies over the course of multiple runs. While you should unlock most of the Ant Builder upgrades first, the Cat Trader is the true endgame progression of Atomicrops. Each plushie represents one of the cat types we can collect and will give us a stat boost for every cat on our farm of that type. These bonuses might seem small, but they make a massive impact to how the game plays.

The lowest tier cats have very small bonuses but are very cheap, and with every 3 of the same type we can combine them into a single higher tier cat. After a successful run through the wasteland you'll have a bunch of Cornucopias to dump into this (after maxing out the Ants) and will surely be cursing those missing cat plushies that haven't shown up yet in a run. Cats without a plushie won't give bonus stats, and the order to acquire them is completely random.

Upgrading from Tier 6 cats to the Top Tier is special, as there are no plushies to find and we can only acquire 1 of each . They don't give any bonuses themselves, but will unlock Cat Statues that can be toggled for more difficult but rewarding runs through the apocalypse.

Modern vs Classic
The phonograph at the farmhouse allows us to toggle between the Modern or Classic seed and crop systems. These systems were significantly refactored 2 years after the launch of the game and I'd recommend most players stick with the Modern version. Long story short, these systems were re-balanced to provide diverse builds with more tools to plant both faster and reliably higher tier crops. This is here for nostalgic players or to mix things up.

Modern Seeds
  • Start with 2 seeds of every biome 1st tier crop
  • Biome crop seeds are all the same tier/rarity
  • Upgrade biome seeds by harvesting the current crop tier
  • Every upgrade summons Wormsy, who rewards Propagator & Garden Bed upgrades
Classic Seeds
  • Start with Potato seeds instead of biome specific seeds
  • Biome crop seeds are any tier/rarity
  • No biome crop seed upgrades
  • No Wormsy, and no Propogators/Gardening Beds

Reworked Since 1.0 TLDR
Farming Changes
  • Fighting/Farming stats were slower to acquire/rarer before coming on weapon bundles
  • Sowing seeds was much slower, as was watering crops
  • Scroll capacity each run started higher, but didn't scale with Farming stat
  • Scrolls for Watering and Fertilizing didn't have a Hawk tier version
  • A 4th scroll type was removed, Anemochory, that planted random seeds in every farm tile
  • Scrolls from shops and camps were rarer to spawn and couldn't be used in Town
  • Heart-Beets used to give health directly, but were reworked into seeds with multiple items
  • Managing weeds was much more frequent of a task and Flowers didn't exist
  • Hummingbirds weren't correctly applying growth speed to multiple crops
  • Auto-firing at enemies while farming was not a thing
Fighting Changes
  • Guns used to break every day in Town with a chance to stay intact from Gun Repair
  • Gun Repair stat was refactored into Bonus Gun Mod
  • All weapons would start with 0 mods and didn't come with stat bundles
  • Guns were upgraded at a Forge next to the gun merchant, 1 at a time for cashews
  • The Alien Ant didn't exist, which meant default PeaShooter only :(
  • Weapon re-balancing to improve viability & supplemented with new mods
General Changes
  • Multiple items were introduced, reworked, changed reward pools, or outright removed
  • Originally unable to skip Season score tally D:
  • VegetaSkulls spawned ambiently from Y7-10, but were refactored into Elite camps
  • Season bosses were static before the Worm, UFO, Mushroom, and Spider were added
  • Defeating a boss didn't remove the boundary around the farm
  • Homing-Pigeon and Jump-Start stats were introduced
  • Cat Plushies were introduced to add the true cornucopia end-game
  • Surplus Mode didn't exist, but was added to help acquire more cats
  • Moth Vendor was added post seed-rework, introducing collectible sculptures from Y8-10
  • Achievement Topiary were introduced to add another meta-progression stat source
  • Top Tier cats and the B I G - C A T were added as a final challenge

Amazing work! This is arguably better than the wiki, and is much more convenient.
