Introduction
In World 2, you can beat the levels in any order you want. After completing a level, you get a unique powerup: sometimes to your base moveset (like the Explode Dash), and sometimes you get a new weapon in your arsenal. This guide shows which levels give which powerups, so that you can pick an order to complete them that works best.

TL;DR on what order I'd recommend: Grab the Mibible from Yum Town first since it doesn't require you to beat a level. Then get the Explode Dash from Nightmare and the Void Block (Ultra) from Flying Crumbship. I like to get the dash first, but Nightmare is tricky without any powerups, so you might want to try Flying Crumbship first if that's an issue. The rest of the powerups don't matter as much as the Explode Dash and Void Block, so just do whatever order you feel like from there on.
Yum Town
Powerup: THE MIBIBLE
Press C to gain temporary invincibility, flight, and the ability to instantly kill any enemies/destructibles that you touch. It just damages bosses instead of instantly killing them, though.

Can only be used once per continue (not every life). Useful to save yourself if you start falling into a pit, or if you are close to dying during a boss fight.

You can get to World 3 without this, but you can stroll through Yum Town swiftly and safely, so I always pick it up first. It's also necessary if you want to access the secret that's hidden behind glass and spikes in the Eggs level.
Crocodibli's Crocastle
Powerup: MIND MISSLES
You can shoot out up to 3 mind missles at once, which home in on enemies and go through walls.

To make sure they don't need to slowly take a U-turn, make sure you're facing the right direction as you shoot them. Be mindful of bosses' invincibility frames: try shooting them with some delay in-between.

This one is pretty useful! It hits far-away and fast-moving enemies/bosses well.

After all levels in World 2 are completed (except Yum Town and secret levels), you will need to return to Crocodibli's Crocastle for a boss rematch. See "End of World 2" section at the end of this guide for that.
Crystal Cars
Powerup: CRYSTAL ZONE
Holding down the fire button will create up to 3 crystals, which will orbit you tightly when holding down fire, and orbit you from a farther distance when fire isn't held.

Each crystal does more damage than the basic weapon, and it can help against enemies that move towards you quickly. Honestly not that good; it's very situational.
Digitaland
Powerup: CHARGE STREAM 10000
Holding down fire when using the default weapon (longer than the Void Block, if you have it as well) to shoot out a rapid stream of tiny projectiles.

The pellets are shot in an inaccurate cone, but reach farther than the default weapon, so it can be useful for killing enemies at the end of the screen.
Eggs
Powerup: FLASH FLASH
Firing the default weapon will flash a damaging shield behind you. Doing so while at full health will make the shield surround you completely.

I've found it useful for breaking through walls of destructible blocks while at full health, as the shield flashing around you will break blocks as you spam it while moving.

BONUS TIP: When you start the fight against the boss of this level, touch the boss from its right side, so that you get knocked back to the right side of the screen while facing left. You can start the fight and not get hit by any of the projectiles!
Flying Crumbship
Powerup: VOID BLOCK
Alternative Powerup: VOID BLOCK ULTRA

Holding down the fire button while using the default weapon will shoot out the Void Block in a small range, which boomerangs back to you. If you have the Ultra version, it'll shoot farther when at full health.

Extremely powerful: it can instantly kill nearly every enemy, and is very quick to use. It's super spammable, and is the best offensive powerup in my opinion. It'll still return back to you if you let go of the fire button mid-use, which lets you shoot out another one with almost no delay.

To get the Void Block Ultra version of this weapon instead of the regular one, you have to take the secret exit in the Flying Crumbship level. I'm pretty sure you can't "upgrade" the regular Void Block by taking the alternate exit, so you'll need to do this the first time you beat this level. It's a pretty minor upgrade and the regular Void Block is already extremely good, so don't sweat it if you missed the Ultra version.

On this screen, instead of falling down the pit, jump over the gap to reach the left side. You can use the Explode Dash or Mibible to make the jump easier if you're having trouble. Walk to the left side to enter the new area on the left, and you'll fight the same boss at the end as usual.
Nightmare
Powerup: EXPLODE DASH
Explode dashing lets you travel farther in mid-air, gives you invincibility frames, and deals heavy damage to any enemies caught in the blasts. The bar that appears above you after doing the dash is its cooldown (which is pretty tiny!).

The explode dash is really useful, but if this level is giving you difficulty, doing Flying Crumbship first will give you the Void Block, which can one-shot kill every enemy in this level.
Suburb
Powerup: SLUG POWER
You shoot out 2 slugs: one from your front, and one from your back. They'll keep traveling until they hit something, and will crawl along walls and ceilings to do so. You can have 3 pairs of slugs active at once.

Pretty situational.
Water
Powerup: POWER WAVE SHOOT
Hold down the fire button to charge up an attack, and release the button to shoot projectiles in a double helix shape.

When released near-immediately, this has pathetic range, but it goes farther and has more projectiles the longer you charge it. It's unnecessary to charge it fully: it's pretty solid when charged a medium amount, and can be shot more quickly this way.
End of World 2
Powerup: DOUBLE JUMP
Re-entering Crocodibli's Crocastle after beating every level in World 2 will have you fight Crocodibli again. Afterwards, you get a double jump. Self-explanatory.
