[Half-Life 2: Lost Coast] Change language (interface, audio and subtitles)

This guide is designed to help you play the game with language settings, regardless of the language that is selected in the Steam interface settings.

This guide will also allow you to play with setting text in one language and audio in another.

For example: you can choose German for text and Spanish for voice acting, and Chinese for subtitles.

The launch options presented in this guide completely ignore Steam settings, which means that you will need to select the desired audio language in the game properties or in the game options through the main menu. Because the game requires language audio files.

English version for all users

Follow this steps:

1. Exit from Half-Life 2: Lost Coast
   
2. Go to Steam > LIBRARY > select Half-Life 2: Lost Coast > click right mouse button on it
   
3. Choose Properties… > on General tab you must look at LAUNCH OPTIONS text box
   
4. On LAUNCH OPTIONS text box just type/or copy/paste -language
   Example:
   

   -language german

   This option will make the text language of the game menu and subtitles in German
   
   (including the user interface, for example the text with the inscription “Health”, as well as the names of weapons and everything else that the user sees directly in the game itself)
   
   
5. A little higher we have a line with a drop-down menu called Language; in Half-Life 2: Lost Coast it only changes the audio language. You can select the desired audio language from this menu.
   
   
6. On LAUNCH OPTIONS text box just type/or copy/paste -audiolanguage
   Example:
   

   -audiolanguage spanish

   This option will change all characters' voices to Spanish, including your H.E.V. Suit.
   
   
7. On LAUNCH OPTIONS text box just type/or copy/paste +cc_lang
   Example:
   

   +cc_lang russian

   This option will change the language of all subtitles to Russian
   
   In conclusion, you will have a menu and interface language in German, a character voice language and H.E.V. Suit is in Spanish (if you selected Spanish in the language selection drop-down menu above) and the subtitle language is in Russian
   
   
8. This code can be combined like this:
   

   -language german -audiolanguage spanish +cc_lang russian

   
   
9. Below is a complete list of languages that are available in Half-Life 2: Lost Coast.

Important note: Half-Life 2: Lost Coast does not have most audio languages; In most cases you will only have interface and subtitles available.

Important note: In some cases, you will need to completely shut down the Steam program itself and then launch Steam again.

Via the menu «Steam» > «Exit» or via right-clicking on the Steam's icon on the system tray.

This will help if the Half-Life 2: Lost Coast language has not changed!
