You need to have completed the game at least once.

You cannot obtain the achievements and rewards mentioned below without having beat the base game first. This guide only covers the part after unlocking Mew Game, therefore requiering you to have done so beforehand.
Introdcution
The Old Master:
The Old Master Set is made up of the best armor und weapon in the game. It is awarded by completing a Mew Game with 1, 2 and 3 Modifiers active except Furry Armored. Therefore, you will have to beat Mew Game 3 seperate times to unlock all of them, thereby unlocking the most sought after achievement: The Old Master.

Sadly it is not possible to unlock the whole Set at once. Trust me, I already tried.

Modifiers I chose:
Stronger Enemies
Enemies are stronger!

Level One
Leveling is disabled and you must beat the game at Level One!

Nine Lives
You only have nine lives.

Choosing these will let us abuse the power of some secret items - including 2 pieces of the Legendary Set.

Approach:
I would recommend unlocking the parts in the aforementioned order, increasing the number of active modifiers continuously with every succesful attempt. Doing so will grand you you additional 3 achievements - one for each Modifier.

This guide will show you my strategy to beating Mew Game with these 3 Modifiers, earning me the set and achievements in the process. Feel free to adapt it to your number of Modifiers and liking.
Getting started
Step 1:
Start out by defeating the Bandit and Arcane Mage, collecting their Gold and follow the Quest Marker to the Arcane Tempel. Make sure to collect the Coin hidden in the forest that will grant us additional 20 Gold, enabeling us to buy an additional Spell Level right from the start.

Step 2:
Talk to the Mage outside the Arcane Tempel close to the Catpital and follow him inside. Unlock Flamepurr and use your collected Gold to immediately upgrade it to Level 2. This will let us deal with the upcoming enemies a little faster. Flamepurr will be our most important Spell beside Purrserk for the rest of the game.

Step 3:
Defeat the Wraith waiting outside the Arcane Tempel using Flamepurr. He will drop a Magic Potion which unlocks the Royal Art of Water Walking for us without having to help the Governor first. This is very important since it allows us access to some ridicilous items pretty much right from the start.

Step 4:
To access the pieces of the Legendary Set we need one more item. Therefore, I like to avoid the summoning circle, pushing back on doing the Main Quest to instead get some starting gear and aquire the Golden Key.
Gearing up
Step 5:
Travel east until you reach the Lonely Cave. Enter and take the secret path at the entrance to unlock an early level 30 random item. Since our next item will be a guaranteed weapon, we are hoping for a helmet or armor. Return back to the entrance and leave the cave.

Step 6:
Travel all the way west, collecting Coins on the way. Our goal is the Arcane Tempel located on the most southern of the western inlands. It lies just south South point and will grant you 30 Gold from a coin in front the tempel. You need at least 50 Gold to unlock our second Spell: Purrserk.

Step 7:
Head north to collect the Pirate Treasure which will grant us our early game weapon: the Guitar. The Treasure is hidden in the ocean west of the Cold Paw cave. With all our starting equipment collected and equiped it is time to head back south again.

Step 8:
Travel to Founder's Island located far out south to accept the quest for the Golden Key. This quest will have us head into the nearby cave with 5 Mimics. Killing them will reward us with the key, granting us access to even stronger items. Turning in the quest will also award us with the Gentlebros, our armor for the rest of the attempt.

Combat: be careful when fighting the Mimics since they can always kill you with one hit. Mimics are some of the tougher enemies. Charge in with an attack, strike them second time and dodge out of their range immediately. To maximize damage, try to keep the damage over time of Flamepurr as well as Purrserker active. The abilities should each hold 2 attack cycles. This will increase your magic as well as your physicial damage and allow you dispose of enemies quickly.

Step 9:
Travel north, stopping at the Healing Paw Arcane Tempel on the way to increase the Level of your Flamepurr as much as you can. You can also save the game by taking a little nap on your way up north. Remember to heal, regenerate your mana and save if there is a good opportunity.

Step 10:
Travel all the way north to the Secret Cave which is disguised as a bush. Make your way through the whole cave, avoiding the Cattraps along the way. Wait for them to disarm and destroy them quickly with an Attack (they always die with one hit) or Flamepurr. Alternatively you can also run past them while disarmed but there are sometimes 2 Traps right next to each other. Therefore, I discourage using this risky strategy. Traverse the whole cave until you see a singular blue orb indicating a Hidden Path. Follow the path, looting the 2 big chests. Bear in mind that the latter is trapped. Equip the helmet Faith completing our equipment.

Step 11:
Head back south to the Catpital and continue the Main Quest until you killed the second Fire Dragon. This way we get can make some progress while traveling to our last piece of equipment. Take out the Arcane Mages first by drawing out their Spells and striking them.

Combat: when fighting Fire Dragons the general combat strategy shows pretty clearly. Make them use all their Spells bei moving close enough, layering them over each other and walking out. Then activate Purrserk and charge in with an Attack Immediately using Flame Purr to set them on fire and making them vunerable. Hit them with a couple more Attacks and dodge out keeping your distance until their cooldowns are all up again. Draw out all their Spells at once again. If you can't draw out all Spells at once, do it in 2 actions in quick succession. That way you maximize the time they are completely vunerable, allowing you to generate more Mana and deal more damage.
Leveling magic
Step 12:
After beating the Fire Dragon, head north-east to the nearby Hidden Cave. The Enemies within are tough, but can be skipped by running into the Hidden Path behind the 2 Fire Dragons. The rewards and cleared path to exit the cave may be reason enough to learn dealing with them. Skulls can be simply dealt with one by one. Just run away until they used their Cattrap and then draw out their Attack. I recommend skipping the Ice Dragon though, since you just have to wait for him to go right enough so you can steal his chest. Alternatively, I recommend getting him stuck on the Hidden Path's entrance if you want his rewards as well. Faith completes our gearing up process and massively boosts our magic. So it is time to level up our magic.

Step 13:
Now we continue questing until we we cleared the cave within the Furbidden Fields and Drakoth confronts us outside. After he runs away, we start get started farming Gold to level up our Spells.

Step 14:
To earn Gold my strategy is to clear out all of Furbidden Fields. This means killing a lot of Mimics. Therefore, pull them together in pairs since we are dealing damage in an area. This way we safe some time on farming Gold. Get them close together and synced so you can hit and dodge both of them easly by staying centred in relation to them.

Step 15:
Head towards marked Watchtower to continue the Main Quest. On your way there, visit the nearest Arcane Tempel. You might want to visit the Freezepaw Arcane Tempel to unlock yourself the ability to slow enemies. Then you want to max out Flamepurr first and Purrserk second as much as possible.

Completing the Mainstory
Step 16:
Head to the marked Watchtower and go on to kill the Water Dragon after clearing out his guards. Water Dragons, even more so Arcane Dragons, might need to been drawn out of Spells and Attacks after another in cycles. They are a not as much of a pushover as the Fire Dragons are. You should be able to deal with this rather easily regardless and head to the next Watchtower.

Step 17:
Instead of following the Quest Marker, head straight to to Windmew City in the north-east and complete the 4 quests there one after the other. This will finally unlock the Royal Art of Flight. This allows us to move quicker, reach the final dragon and avoid being surprised by summoned enemies by staying in the air until we had the chance to move away from them. Once obtained you can now travel to the active Quest Marker.

Step 18:
The Arcane Dragon fight is similar to the Ice Dragon. Kill the Wraith to the right using Purrserk and scorching him with Flame Purr. He should get finished off by the damage over time. You can usually ignore the left Wraith. Draw out the dragons spells and attacks in two cycles and don't run into his Cattrap. He should only use one of them, so it should be rather straight forward once again.

Step 19:
Travel to the Starting Zone to fight more clones of Drakoth. These can be dealt with easily by doding their Lightnyan and Attacks in vertical direction. You'll face 2 at once after beating the first clone, so stay centered to deal with both at the same time. After that you follow the grandfather's lore quests until you are finally ready to face Drakoth in the Frozen Paw. Once again, I recommend using the Royal Art of Flight to avoid getting caught in summoned enemie spells.

Step 20:
On your way to the Frozen Paw you can spent your remaining Gold if you have not maxed out all Spell Levels you unlocked yet. Just visit the nearest Arcane Tempel and spent as much as you can before the last stretch.

Step 21:
Before fighting Drakoth himself, he will summon 3 Dragonbloods you will have to fight. Lure them out one by one, letting them use their Spells first, then getting them to use their Attack. After that you should able to one cycle them by immediately using Purrserk , charging in and spamming Flame Purr while attacking them. Between each fight you can replentish your Mana by flying to the nearest Town and napping. Then enter the Zero Dimension.

Step 22:
Drakoth first clone is another pushover. Just attack and dodge to replentish Mana if needed. Then he summons 3 clones. Try to use Purrserk and Flame Purr Immediately and dodge out to burn all 3 down with damage over time. Afterwards, you'll face Drakoth himself. He will use all learnable Spells. Try to draw all Spells out again, luring him away from the Cattrap. Mind his normal Attack. If you have Freezepaw you can use it to get a good initial cycle. Execute the usual strategy. Mind the invisible walls . When defeated he summons 2 weak monsters before fighting within the barrier himself a last time. This time, he goes down in one swing. This marks the last fight you had to succed.

Step 23:
Lastly, you just need to follow the Epilogue. After completing this last quest you will be rewarded with the corresponding Old Master piece. You will unlock them within your Regular Save Game. After unlocking all 3 pieces you will be awarded The Old Master achievement.

Other Mew Game achievements
To get all Mew Game achievements most efficiently, after following my guide for the other 4 achievements, you should combine the last 2 into one attempt.

These two are:
Furry Armored
Carry forward your level and equipment to this mode.
Activating this will not grant any rewards.

Naked Cat
Armor and weapons cannot be equipped.

Since you can't earn rewards while having Furry Armored active, you have to do another attempt regardless of the 3 attempts to get The Old Master. Therefore, I recommend doing Naked cat and Furry Armored in one go, since arguably Naked Cat is the single hardest achivement to unlock. If you choose it in a run without Furry Armored, you would have to gain Levels starting from 1, while this strategy lets you start with the Levels of your Regular Save Game. This way you can get all the Mew Game achievements as quickly and effieciently as possible.

Thnx for a great Guide, only think i would like to mention for my own grind is the Cattrap is super helpfull for these difficult runs and you can also get Legendary Chest Pieace "Courage" for another +333 HP, which will save you from many 1 shot hits playing as level 1.

In the Hidden Cave you can lure out the insane enemy to the right side and go around, kill the 2 chest enemies and if needed lure him out again to grab the Chest Piece Courage.

Took me 2 lives to grab it, but it saved me more then 5 times from not getting 1 shoted afterwards.

:BL3Thumbsup: Great Work Again.

Thanks for the work you did with this guide, it was a huge help!

For any future visitors: There's no need to visit the Secret Cave; the helmet Faith is in the Hidden Cave.

Another difference, at the end of the secret cave, instead of the helmet "Faith", I got the weapon "Wilpower".

Hey there, I'm trying to follow this guide now and it seems like I'm only getting half of the money from coins that you were. I had to go find another coin before I could upgrade my spell at the start, and the coin outside of the 2nd spell only gave 15 money.

I'm not complaining, just letting you know that coin values seem to have changed at some point.

The Wraith only appears in the beginning if you are playing Mew Game, like mentioned in the disclaimer. If it is your first playthrough of Cat Quest you will have to follow the mainquest to unlock Water Walking. In this case you can follow my guide from that point onwards, but enemies will vary. I hope this clears up your concerns.

there is no wraith in the beginning, so no water walk.

Great guide! I propose the following sequence: 1st Mew = Nine Lives. 2nd Mew = Nine Lives + Stronger Enemies. 3rd Mew = Nine Lives + Stronger Enemies + Naked Cat. 4th Mew = Furry Armored.
