How to play "Omega-level" Stormshield in Marvel's Midnight Suns

What is Stormshield?

Stormshield is a Storm[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]skill card.

You will need to take her on a few missions and/or send her on hero ops[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]to unlock it.

Because it is RARE[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com], choose missions which reward RARE gamma coils or RARE hero ops.

In this guide we are going to be talking about the upgraded version. i.e. the one that grants both Counter[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]and Resist[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]to her allies.

This is in actual fact a counter attack card/ability that you play for her allies. So let's start with some heroes who can benefit the most from a Stormshield+ card play.

Morbius

Once Morbius has Bloodlust[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]with Stormshield his counter attacks will bleed attackers.

This is particularly good on vampyre missions:
Elite vampyres will be Marked[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]if they bleed.

Resist will help maintain Morbius' bloodlust (which is lost if he loses block).

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel (like Morbius) will lose her Binary[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]status if she loses block.

In binary form, her counter attacks will benefit from increased offence.

Captain America

Stormshield can help Captain America build up Block[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]by resisting damage.

Hulk

Hulk needs to be attacked to build up Rage[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com].
Stormshield's resist is perfect for Hulk to max rage, without taking any damage.

And Hulk's counter attacks will be enhanced by rage.

Venom

Like Hulk, Venom's counter-attacks also benefit from their passive Ravenous.

Deadpool

Deadpool's En Fuego[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]is one of the hardest passives to use in the game.

This is because if Deadpool takes damage, and that means any damage at all, he will lose 1 En Fuego. That is even if he has block.

But not with resist.

Stormshield provides Deadpool with the perfect cover to ramp up En Fuego.

Charlie

Last but not least, Charlie.

Summon Charlie[marvels-midnight-suns.fandom.com]is a practically useless legendary Hunter card, which you unlock by choosing the path of light.

Stormshield can provide her the perfect opportunity to be playable in game.

Step 1: Protect the Goddess

While Stormshield gives her allies resist and counter, it only provides 1+ resist to her.
And no counter.

Her allies can easily deal with minions with their counter but any enemies attacking Storm will not.

So you want to prioritise enemies targeting Storm.

Protect the Goddess.

Step 2: Counter-Attack

This is the meat of the strategy, because Stormshield+ is actually a counter attack ability/card.

Each of Storm's allies get 2 resist with each play of Stormshield.

That is they can resist attacks from 2 enemies.

So next, plan to eliminate enemies swarming a particular ally.
Balance the battlefield, so that each of her allies have 2 enemies to deal with, ideally.

In this example, there are two enemies left attacking Nico: two Hunter.
Ideally you want each hero to have resists for every enemy.

As a skill card, playing Stormshield will give you 2 heroism, which you can use for environmental attacks to aid in setting up your counter attack.

Note: Supervillains

Resist is no defence vs. supervillians.

However, Stormshield still allows the team to counter-attack minions and elites, while focusing on the boss. (Or attending to other things like crates, etc).

Stun, bind bosses.
That will prevent one of the two actions supervillians take.

Apply other debuffs like bleed and weak.

Or even better, KO them.
