Updated Reshade for use with MGSM2FIX. HQ4X featured.
By Tethius
Be sure to install all shader packs when installing reshade.
Also be sure to NOT use the crt or dot matrix options with MGSM2FIX

This reshade improves the games visuals by reducing pixelation with a crt filter and hq4x filtering to reduce jagged lines. Because there is no way to increase the internal resolution of this game, this is the best option for a cleaner smoother image. Hq4x smooths everything nicely, giving the illusion of a higher internal resolution.

For those new to reshade, be sure to set a key for effects toggle, so you can quickly switch the effects on and off for easy comparisons.

Effects used in this preset, in this order:
Clarity
Contrast limited sharpening
HQ4X
crtfakelottes
monocular cues
Levels
Magic bloom. Disable this if you don't like the bloom.

All settings can be easily tweaked to taste, or disabled.

There are screenshots on the preset page in the link I provided. Click on the before/after image for a very large full screen comparison.

The third image does the best job at showcasing how much pixelation and jaggedness has been reduced.

(Full screen images don't seem to load on my end, screenshots do not do this preset justice. Download for yourself and see, since apparently you can't view the comparison images full screen.)

Just quickly throwing this out there for anyone who wants to enhance the games visuals. This preset was made on a 4k display.

We're still doing this in 202Xs? Better play the original 3-disk PS1 re-release in Duckstation with xBR texture scaling and native resolution with supersampling for 3D, PGXP-based fix for PS1's shimmering and smooth debanded gradients.

This is a different preset than what I had originally posted. It has been altered and updated.

Even without bilinear filtering this reshade will still enhance the games visuals.

It certainly does not look the same to me

The textures themselves are less pixelated and everything has a more smooth and defined look, but as far as jagged edges and lines go, not much can be done about the native 240p resolution, which is why a crt filter was used.

Is it me or it looks the same pixelated?
