All Saintly Quintessence Locations (Sanguinarix Upgrade)

All 20 locations for upgrading your sanguinarix with saintly quintessence!

Intro

This guide will show you how to get all 20 sanguinarix upgrades giving yourself the most powerful healing effects as soon as possible over the course of the game to always be on top of your game. I've provided in detail descriptions on how to get to the locations and videos in case you can't understand what i'm blabbering about.

SQ - Defiled Sepulchre

After defeating the surrounding enemies just after the withered health tutorial, use soulflay on the umbral belly in the wall to rip out the 1st Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Pilgrim's Perch

Once Scourged Sister Delyth is defeated, enter umbral and you'll find an umbral belly in a small alcove to the right of where Delyth was found initially. Soulflay it to obtain the 2nd Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Forsaken Fen

From the Vestige of Valade, walk the path that it wants you to, then once you reach the bridge-looking terrain, enter umbral and take a right to end up by the hut. Go to the right of the underwater hut down the straight path, and you'll eventually reach an umbral belly guarded by a few enemies and a womb of despair. Once defeated, go ahead and soulflay the umbral belly for the 3rd Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Fitzroy's Gorge

From the Vestige of Sebastian, run back down the stairs and head back towards Fitzroy's Gorge. Once back in the gorge, exit the building, head towards the right, and from the stone gate in front of you, take another right and walk straight until another stone gate is on your left. Look towards the right and go up the path on the hill (don't forget to enter umbral). Once on the top of the hill, soulflay the umbral belly for the 4th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Lower Calrath

From the Vestige of Lydia the Numb Witch head towards the right, then jump down and proceed like normal over the fire land mines, continue walking straight and pass the trapper, then take a right down the stairs, walk around the flaming tree (avoid ruiner probably lol) and walk up the steps to your left, continue walking across the roofs until you fall on the other side of the road (or take the ladder down), run straight past the flaming dog and infernal enchantress, then continue walking up the slope to your left. Go into umbral around this area to enter the flaming building, climb up the umbral ladder, and continue on your way to the top. Once you've reached the top, there will be enemies and a womb of despair waiting for your arrival. Make quick work of them, then soulflay the umbral belly for the 5th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Upper Calrath

From the Vestige of Doln, follow the path all the way down to a section of the outer walls thats filled with catapults and spears. Enter umbral and drop down to a section with a large tree filled with hanging corpses by the infernal enchantress and other enemies. Finish em' off and find the umbral belly by the tree; it can be soulflayed for the 6th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Sunless Skein

From the Vestige of Catrin, go through the doorway on the left and follow the wooden platforms bridge that you should've dropped earlier until you get to a mineshaft. Head through and at the end, there'll be a Proselyte. Move past it then go into the next room and head up the stairs on the right to go through another doorway. Use your umbral lamp to bypass the gate at the end, then head up the staircase to the top. In this next room, follow the the wooden platforms and stairs as it does a U-turn, and at the bottom, you'll get to a hole that is partially covered by railings. Look down the hole, standing on the side that doesn't have a railing to find a lower wooden platform blocked off by a metal gate. Enter umbral and this lower platform should now be accessible. The item down here is the 7th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Lower Calrath (again)

From the Vestige of Hooded Antuli, follow the path to the left leading to the locked door (key of the sunless skein needed). Use the key and open the door to a new part of lower calrath. Move forward on your right and head down the wooden ladder to get to ground level. Avoid the enemies and go right from the ladder then head all the way down the stairs. Enter umbral when you're ready. You'll have to deal with a few strong enemies that can be an annoyance such as a minor mendacious visage and ruiner guarding the umbral belly on the tree. Soulflay it to pick up the 8th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Fief of the Chill Curse

From the Vestige of Svornil, turn around and climb up the ladder. Take a right and climb up the next ladder. Continue around the top of the church by following the path, and eventually you'll end up outside. Continue walking down this set path (avoiding everything because there's quite a lot). After a bit of walking, you'll reach a gate that is barricaded. Head to the left of the gate and climb up the ladder. Then head down the stairs and continue walking on this path. Take a right, and you'll come onto the first stone bridge, then a wooden one following it. Continue walking on the path, jump down, and there'll be a building to the left, which is where Griefbound Rowena resides. Continue along the path, ignoring everything, until you end up at the church you started at. Then enter umbral and jump off the broken ledge onto the umbral platform. Next, pull the umbral target behind you to move the platform and jump below where you just were onto the following platform, finally go into the wall where the umbral belly is located, go ahead and soulflay it, and get your 10th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Fief of the Chill Curse (again)

From the Vestige of Loash head onto the room next to the major boss, take the ladder down and head out onto the castle wall. Walk across the wall through a room all the way to the beacon. Once at the beacon, go inside and take a sharp left, take that ladder down, and come out of the hole on the side of the tower. Enter umbral and head down the wooden bridge leading to the river path while going to the left. Continue walking on the path until you come across a wall that's blocked by an umbral target. Go ahead and soulflay it to advance. Soon as you enter the next area, look on the right side, and there is another target. Go ahead and soulflay that too. Then walk to the left and soulflay the umbral target on the wall to open it, and directly above your head once you enter is another umbral target that can clear the umbral tumor, allowing you to go and soulflay the last target to enter the next area. Once in this area, watch out for the minor mendacious visage and continue straight forward and soulflay the umbral belly, which will give you the 10th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Revelation Depths

From the entrance of the Revelation Depths, follow the path the game wants you to go on, lighting up the human sitting torches along the way. Cross the bridge and continue walking the path until you see an enemy (make sure you don't get pushed off by the hidden one), then take a right and continue, then jump down onto the ground and start walking on the path again until you're back "outside", going down some stairs and ending up at the elevator shortcut (that leads to the Vestige of Catrin). Continue going down the stairs, walking to an open area, then enter umbral, while watching out for the deep sparrows. Then you reach a broken bridge, and to your right theres a ladder going down. Continue on the broken bridge while in umbral and jump onto the skeleton bridge. Continue down the following path, eventually leading to a ladder. Then head up the ladder and soulflay the umbral target behind you to pull the next skeleton bridge closer. Be careful of the minor mendacious visage when heading up. Once slain, soulflay the umbral belly in the area, which holds 11th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Manse of the Hallowed Brothers

Starting from the Vestige of Brother Jeremiah, head up through the kitchen door (you get the manse kitchen key from killing the holy bulwark outside), enter umbral then, pull down the platform, walk to the next door, roll through some barrels, head outside towards the right of the door, soulflay the umbral platform closer to you, then head up and walk straight onto the next wooden ledge. Take a right and jump down to the next area with all the enemies; go ahead and run past them, entering the door; take another right down the hall; follow the path it wants you to take; and you'll end up at a spiral staircase outside. Open that door up, take a right, and roll past the avowed and marksman. Walk the path and avoid the holy bulwark. Continue following the set path, and you'll come into a room with a sin-piercer, and two hounds will run past them into the next open area with a bridge. Walk underneath the bridge and head towards the door. (you require the abbot vernoff's key to enter) Once in there, enter umbral and soulflay the umbral belly for the 13th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Tower of Penance

From the Vestige of Brother Jeremiah, take the path that brings you to the doors that require the abbot vernoff's key to open and continue straight past the holy bulwark towards the Tower of Penance. Be weary; there is a boss battle here called the "Blessed Carrion Knight Sanisho". Once defeated, continue towards the left of the tower until you find an elevator. Head up said elevator and enter the tower. Now it's time to climb down the tower, enter umbral around the top near the umbral flowerbed, and continue going down ladders and soulflaying umbral platforms to advance downward. There will be cages blocking the exit at the bottom. Climb up the stairs that are located inside a room and pull the lever, causing the cages to lift, allowing you to head down. Jump down the hole and pull another set of levers, causing cages to go up, allowing you to climb down the next ladder. Find the last ladder, climb down it, and pull the lever at the bottom, where a blessed knight and marksman are located, which will raise the cages. Head down the hole, walk towards the opening where the outside is, and enter umbral (if not in it already) then climb up the umbral ladder, which heads onto the next ladder. Once up, both ladders walk forward, and there will be an umbral belly guarded by enemies and a womb of despair. Take care of them and soulflay the umbral belly, causing it to drop the 14th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters

From the Vestige of Rosamond, head up to the area with the emergence effigy from the normal path or cut through with the giant gate. Continue up the stairs, following the path, passing the two sin-piercers and the scourged sister. Eventually you'll see an ardent penitent charging at you. Roll past them and continue down the stairs to the tree and run by it to the stairs on the top left. Head up these stairs and run past the next sin-piercer and scourged sister to the stairs behind them. Enter umbral in this area to reveal a hidden umbral platform. Run up the stairs and head towards the right to the umbral ladder off to the side. (WATCH OUT FOR THE ABBESS ENEMY; ITS LASER BEAM WILL KILL YOU FAST.) Continue up the stairs to the right and walk to the umbral area past the umbral belly, and by the umbral moth figures, soulflay the platform closer to you, then soulflay the umbral target to move the platform back. Continue walking straight, and you'll come into a gazebo (watch out for the minor mendacious visage), then soulflay the umbral belly in the middle of the gazebo, and it'll drop the 15th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters (again)

From the Vesige of Rosamund, run up to the emergence effigy, then continue up the stairs, following the path, passing the two sin-piercers and the scourged sister. Eventually, you'll see an ardent penitent charging at you. Roll past them, continue down the stairs to the tree, and run by it to the stairs on the top left. Head up these stairs and run past the next sin-piercer and scourged sister to the stairs behind them. Enter umbral in this area to reveal a hidden umbral platform. Run up the stairs and head towards the right to the umbral ladder off to the side. Go up the stairs on the right and emerge from the umbral using the effigy. Climb up the stairs next to the effigy and continue walking up the path until you reach a long hallway. Walk all the way down it and take a right into the room that has the door with the altar inside. Go down the left stairwell and stay on the left side until you reach a room that has more stairs leading upwards. Take a right once at the top and walk to the back, where there will be two hounds waiting for you in a room. Go ahead and avoid them, and go outside to where a scourged sister stands. Once near the gate, enter umbral and walk through it, while heading towards the stone gazebo where the umbral belly is located. Soulflay the umbral belly for the 16th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - The Empyrean

Starting from the Vestige of Iorelo the Cursed Knight, head towards the door and run all the way up the stairs near the massive door. Look towards your left and climb up the broken tower. Once in the tower, enter umbral, and the rest of the tower will appear. Go ahead and walk through it to the top (be careful of the abbess's laser as it can go through the walls). If you haven't removed the umbral tumor, go to the left and do that little area and soulflay the umbral target to advance. Once in the main room again, go through the iron gate with umbral and walk on the left side of the big room, heading towards the end. There will be an umbral belly behind an abunch of wooden boxes and barrels. Go and soulflay the umbral belly, and it'll drop the 17th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Bramis Castle

Starting from the Vestige of the Forgotten Guardian, turn around and run while passing the elevator heading outside of the door towards the Bramis Castle main gate entrance, then take a left up the stairs that lead towards an umbral room, use your lamp and enter umbral, and complete the puzzle, then continue heading straight up the set path. There will be an umbral effigy shortly after this room, which you can use to emerge. then continue heading straight and take a right up the stairs, passing the proselyte and rhogar hound. Continue up the stairs and take a left until you see wooden barricades, then enter umbral, walk across the bridge, and climb up the ladder waiting for you at the top. At the top is a mendacious visage and the umbral belly that holds the 18th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Bramis Castle (again)

[READ] To get this Saintly Quintessence you need to rotate the staircase using the lever on the other side of the giant room. The top part of the guide and the first 1m 10s of the video will be showing you how to do so. (Make sure you flip the 2nd lever located down the stairs from the left of the lever you just flicked to unlock the gate so it's easier to access the vestige you came from). If you have completed this part please skip to the 2nd paragraph, Thank you.

[FOR STAIRCASE LEVER]
Starting from the Vestige of the Bloody Pilgrim, turn around and run straight up the stairs, going towards the fire-looking area. Take a left onto the other set of stairs, then continue up that path, passing the rhogar hound and the trapper, continuing straight to the doorway behind them. Go around the short spiral steps leading to an umbral flowerbed and walk the path until you fall down onto more stairs. Then head up the stairs, rolling through the wooden barricades, avoiding the ruiner hiding behind it. Continue left into the doorway and walk down the hall, rolling past the second ruiner hidden in the middle section, then continue all the way until the end with the metal gate door. Then take a right into a balcony-type area, and in the front middle there will be a lever that will turn the giant spiral staircase you walked by.

[FOR SAINTLY QUINTESSENCE]
Starting from the Vestige of the Bloody Pilgrim, head up the stairs into the gate you should have unlocked by flipping the 2nd lever, then go towards your left and run up the stairs that lead to the giant spiral staircase, and continue up the stairs, heading into a room that wasn't accessible before. Watch out for the loads of enemies that are in this area, including of trappers, hounds, and the corrupted (also a grim reaper if you're in umbral), but continue heading straight and take a left at the door, which will lead you on top of a bridge. Go ahead and enter umbral if you haven't already, take a look, and pull the umbral target across the gap, pulling out a umbral bridge for you to step on. Head over to that bridge, but be cautious of the proselyte waiting for you around that area. After taking care of the enemy, head onto the bridge and pull the umbral platform towards you using the umbral target. Step onto the platform and pull the umbral target that is directly underneath the umbral belly, causing another bridge to appear. Jump and walk across the bridge and soulflay the umbral belly, which will grant you the 19th Saintly Quintessence.

SQ - Bramis Castle (once again)

[READ] You must have the royal key to access this part of Bramis Castle, if you don't click here for a video tutorial on how to get the key.

Starting from the Vestige of the Bloody Pilgrim, turn around and head up the stairs into the giant castle hall, then continue up the stairs to your left and pass the spiral stairs heading to your right and you'll see a doorway that leads to a room with the stairs on fire. Enter umbral and walk through the fire, being careful of the infernal enchantress at the top of the steps. Once defeated, open up the door using the royal key. Proceed straight, going down one of the stairs to your left or right, avoiding the reapers. Continue walking out the doorway into another room with candles, and watch out for the rhogar hound on your right. Open up the door behind the hound and be cautious of the 2x hounds and the proselyte that are on the other side. Quickly heading towards your left, as you pass the emergence effigy breaking through the wooden barricades, which leads to another room with a ladder and elevator. Walk over to the elevator and "juke out" the button, causing the elevator to go up with you not being on it. Look down, and underneath it should be an umbral belly. Go ahead and soulflay the umbral belly, causing the item to float up next to you which is the 20th FINAL Saintly Quintessence.
