Achievement Guide
This section isn't going to have much detail. Most achievements are really simple, and the detail is in the walkthrough.

Here's the gist of what's needed:
  • Kill 10 cockroaches.
This can be done on the first level alone, but levels 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 all have them. They're very difficult to find, so it's best to just get this achievement out of the way early.

  • Break 1/10/50 glass objects.
This can be accomplished in the first two levels, but there's probably hundreds of things to break in the whole game.

  • Play 1/8 pianos.
There are 8 pianos in the game. There are in level 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 9. Level 7 has 3 pianos.

  • Open a door using the lockpick without damaging it.
You need to pick three locks in the game, so you only have three chances... Or you can just reload a save.

  • Discover 1/5 secret areas.
    Secret areas are in level 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8.

  • Craft 1/5/10/20 items.
  • Collect 10/25/70 items.
There's also "Invest 5/20/40 items in crafting." achievements, but that comes with crafting 20 items. The walkthrough covers all items.

  • Craft 1/6 maps.
Find the ink on levels 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and combine it with a cloth to make a map.

  • Collect 10/50/81 documents and recordings.
  • Collect all of <Character>'s recordings and documents.
There are 49 documents and 34 recordings, totalling 83. The "all documents and recordings" achievement unlocks after 81, so it seems like the developers miscounted. As for each character:
    • Evelynn O'Donell has 1 document and 6 recordings.
    • Robert Kansas has 3 documents and 12 recordings.
    • William Holtwick has 9 documents.
    • Benjamin Bennet has 5 documents and 16 recordings.

  • Build the electromagnet.
    Unmissable story achievement.

  • Finish the game without healing yourself.
This isn't nearly as hard as it sounds. You can only hurt yourself if you fall into a bottomless pit in the platforming sections. But there's almost always a save point before each one, so you can just reload a previous save if you fail too many times.

  • Lose all life points 1/12 times.
You are forced to load a previous save when you die. This can be done anywhere where you can be hurt, but I just do this one after finishing the game.
Achievement Bugs
Many discussion posts mention issues with achievements not unlocking properly, but personally, every achievement unlocked for me without any problems.

This walkthrough details exactly what I did and the order in which I did everything. Additionally, I only loaded my latest save, at least until after I finished the game.
Level 1 - The Rainbow Path
Documents: 8 (Running Total: 8)
Recordings: 4 (Running Total: 4)

Achievement Note: There's an achievement for finishing the game without healing.
You can craft and pick up healing items, but you cannot use them. It's not hard as the only way you hurt yourself if you fall into a bottomless pit in the platforming sections. But there's almost always a save point before each one, so you can just reload a previous save if you fail too many times.
Achievement Note: There's an achievement for killing 10 cockroaches. It can be done in this level alone, but most levels have cockroaches. Press "E" to kill them.
    Here's where I found ten:
  • 1 in 3.04.
  • 1 in the short hallway between 3.04 and 3.01.
  • 2 in 3.01, near the piano end of the room.
  • 1 in the area with the piano.
  • 1 in the cafeteria.
  • 2 in the ladies' room floor.
  • 1 in the ladies' room wall.

Nice. i kept this game on the back burner for a while too because i heard about the bugs, but luckily i had no issue.

If i had to guess, maybe saving and loading mid-chapter breaks something. I didn't finish the game in one session, but I did play entire levels at a time.

It worked! Maybe it was because I formatted the PC recently, finally completed this game after years. Thanks for the motivation
