macOS + ANY controller

You have done everything to make your controller work on mac but no success? Look no further, I'm here to help!

How to do it?

Follow the following steps:

1) Download "Joystick Mapper" from the official App Store.






- The app is not free, but very cheap. It is around $5 depending on your location and it is a one time purchase only that can be used for ANY game that does not recognise your controller.

- There are other free options available on the internet that I personally do not recommend since they are not reviewed by Apple and are not necessary trustworthy. Trusting the software is important since mapping applications require full access over your computer.

*General info about mapping: since steam games often do not recognise your controller on mac we must map it to our keyboard to act as a part of it. In a nutshell, we are using the controller as a keyboard.

2) Open the app to map the keys to your desires

- You must PLUG your controller in to make sure your mac recognises it
- Use the "scan" to map your joystick movement

- How you must map each key differs on how you are playing the game, but there are two main options:
1. You play alone and map it for only one player
2. You are playing with your friend(s) through local co-op and one of you is using the keyboard normally (player 1) and the other one of you is using the controller (player 2)

- Which keys to map it to?
To answer this, open your desired game and check out the "controls" settings.
Check the suggested controls for CONTROLLERS, then the suggested KEYBOARD ones.
Map your controller in correlation of these two settings (map the suggested keyboard to suggested controller settings)

My mapping for local co-op as player 2 (in Overcooked 2) looks like this:












3) Open your desired game and make sure Joystick mapper is running and your configuration is TICKED IN







- Also make sure that your controller is plugged in to your computer
