Born in Webster, South Dakota in 1977. Lesnar attended Webster High School where he began to gain recognition as an amateur wrestler. This led to him getting a scholarship for the University of Minnesota, Lesnar wrestled for the University of Minnesota's Golden Gophers from 1999 to 2000. Competing in the heavyweight division (285 pounds). In 2000 Lesnar won the NCAA heavyweight wrestling championship by defeating Wes Hand from Iowa in finals.
