CHAPTER I - Camo's Objective
For both SLAYER TEMPERED and DEMON RUBY to be unlocked, there are objectives that you need to complete.

Here are the objectives:

SLAYER TEMPERED

DEMON RUBY

As we can see, the one that's easier for everyone to complete is the Slayer camo, since you have to kill the demons 333 times. But, i can give you some advise in order to get the Demon camo, but it's gonna take some time to complete it. We'll get to that in a second.

I do want to mentioned something. First off all, the Slayer camo is only set to a weapon (meaning once you get that camo unlocked, it does not applied to the other weapons) meaning you have to do this objective to every weapon you have. The Demon camo, meanwhile, once its unlocked, it unlocks to every weapon (see the gold colored text), so once you've reached that objective, you don't need to do it on other weapon, unlike the Slayer camo does.

Now that we know the objectives, let me show you a grind strats to make this camo grind easier.
CHAPTER II - Strategy (SLAYER TEMPERED)
Before we start, you need to set up a custom lobby first (Same thing applies to an XP grind, where you need to make a lobby full of bots)

OH AND ALSO DON'T FORGET THAT YOU NEED TO DO A SINGLE ONLINE MATCH AS BOTH SLAYER AND DEMON AND KILL SOMEONE. IF NOT THEN THE PROGRESS WOULDN'T COUNT TOWARDS THE OBJECTIVE. AFTER THAT, JUST DO IT ON A CUSTOM LOBBY FULL OF BOTS.

Use any map you want, but i prefer Caribbean Night map since it's the easiest to do grind with. Next, you can set the BOT Level to whatever you want, i picked 1 since its easier to survive through the time limit.

Once you've dropped in, the first thing you have to do is to get some supplies (Ammo, Guns) but i need you to focus on Armor Plates and Cash, since this is where we can make some money especially on the first minute of the game. If you found a Shotgun, i'd stay away from that unless if you have the cash to buy a LOADOUT DROP and get a specially made shotgun for yourself. But if you got it, switch over to your pistol cuz that will be your bet chance to kill demons early in the game (depends if you have ammo for it).

Once you've got enough supplies, go to this building:

This building provides a buy station and some camping spot where the bots are not going near you once you've jumped over to the balcony.

As you can see, there are two ways to camp in this building, one is close to the buy station and acts as a safe haven, and the stairs. The stair is a better camp spot since the bots can come up the stairs and basically acts as a one way lane for them to kill you, but sometimes the bot would just go away from you, so you're better off to get out of that stair and watch as the horde of bots going for you on both sides, so be careful.

Now once you're there, it's just a waiting game now. I do need to remind you that you need to prioritize on both Armor and Cash to buy ammo and plates, but also a custom loadout. Here are the graphs of how much everything costs on the buy station:

Now that you know how much everything costs, Here are the steps-by-step on how i would usually do:
  • Get an ARMOR BOX early into the game once you have enough money. Then, just kill some demons that are coming to you. Once killed, get their money and make sure you have enough money to get a LOADOUT DROP. No need to buy an AMMO BOX too early, since there's not a lot of demons in the first minute, so you just need to scavenge and save some money to get the armor box.
  • Once you've got your loadout, let them come to you and kill whoever comes close. once you've got 1000$ or more, you need to buy both armor and ammo box and go back to killing more demons. IMO, i tend to prioritize more on armor than ammo, but you can do whatever you want.
  • At this point, you just need to regulate your flow in-game. If you run out of armor and get overrun, then it's over. If you run out of bullets, you only have your throwables and melee as your last resort. Keep topping up on both your armor and ammo and kill a lot of demons.

If everything goes to plan, you should get this much:

you can get even more, probably 80 kills or so, but yea this is just an average.
CHAPTER II.I - Strategy (DEMON RUBY)
Now, this can be quite time consuming and probably pretty hectic, considering that you need to kill every slayer, while other bots are looking for them and steal your kills. Unfortunately, there's no way around to make this part much easier, but atleast i'll give you some calculation in order to justify if it's worth it, or not.

So imagine if you've killed 3-5 slayers, and one match is about 5 minutes. If you calculate that to Daytime (24hr), you can unlock this camo in four months. yes, four months.

Math time (correct me if i'm wrong): 666 (Objective) ÷ 5 (Kills) X 1,440 Minutes (24hr) = 191,808 Min

This equals to 3000+ hours playing that mode, and that doesn't include the chances of becoming the demon once you've dropped into the game are pretty slim.

Now, i know that this might be one of the hardest camo to be unlocked, but i can give you some advise to make this just a bit faster (although not a lot)
  • If you spawned as a slayer, immediately leave the game, then join back.
  • Dodge bullets by strafing, and BHOP and be agile with your attacks. i didn't put sliding in this because it slows you down, by a lot. Only slide once you're in the air to maximize your range.
  • Keep jumping on the roof, so you get a birds eye view of the bots.
  • A proper way to throw the blade is to see if the blade is fully showed or the switch animation is done. You can also throw the blade when the sound of the blade starts to popped up. If it's too early, your blade won't go that far. If it's too long, you're vulnerable to attack from the slayers, so practice this in the range.
  • I found that in order to kill a slayer efficiently, i need to do the same thing in CS:GO, some of you would know this, but if not it's called "Swish-Swish-Stab" where you click left mouse 2x, then right mouse at the end. What makes this different is that the "stab" part is a throwing knife, since it deals 40 damage to the slayer, and 60 with left click. This method is pretty risky, considering you might wanna go pretty close in order to get the throwing knife hit, but it is the most agile way to do it.
  • Other than that it's just about repetition, honestly. If you're burned out by this, you can just leave it for a while, then come back again.

>UPDATE!<
i have found a way to make this easier. You just need to pick HIGH-RISE as your map, then once you've dropped in, kill yourself as fast as possible (jumping off the map). This way it will automatically made you a demon, and you can start killing everyone.

Another thing that you need to know is that: The more players that have changed to a demon, the slayers are harder to kill.

let me explain this on a table about how much the demon's attack damage does to a slayer as you dropped into the game (1/10), and one last slayer standing (9/10)

AMOUNT

DAMAGE (Light)
DAMAGE (Heavy + Throwing Knife)

1-2 Demon

60
80

3 Demons

52
70

4 Demos

45
60

5 Demons

38
50

6 Demons

38
50

7 Demons

38
50

8 Demons

38
50

9 Demons

30
40

As you can see the more slayers killed, the harder for the demons to attack you, especially to the last man standing on that match. You can test every configuration to kill them as efficient as possible, and use this table as a benchmark. I find that mixing "Swish-Swish-Stab-Knife/Swish-Swish-Knife-Stab" method is very effective if there's 5 players alive.

>>Another Update<<
Remember that time when the game just got a small patch update like 4 days ago? Well apparently, they patch the damage in the Demon Slayer mode. So now, you should see it on the updated table. BTW i just realized it like rn.

@HypnicJolt I'm having the same problem. My kills are not counting towards the challenge in most matches played...

yeah no ive never done the camo grind myself, ive barely played the game
was just my perspective on the math side of things

Well, i'm just guessing about how much it takes to get the camo, so it's def a "bit" off. But, judging on your calculation (considering the optimal conditions of connection, load times, lobby times, and other factors in play) then yes; it may take 14-15 hours, perhaps more if done in one sitting, and no breaks in between.
perculator Jul 3, 2024 @ 7:55pm
correct me if im wrong but i think ur math is off

666 / 4 (Avg. kills per match) = 166.5 (Matches needed to get 666 kills at 4 kills per game)
166.5 x 5 = 832.5 (Total minutes spent if you are getting 4 kills every 5 mins)
832.5 / 60 (Minutes into hours) = 13.875 (Hours spent in game (Not accounting for load times))

wouldnt it take 14-15 hours if done in one session with no breaks and the most optimal load and lobby times?

I'm having the same problem as HypnicJolt.

Pizdec, I don't have 4 months. But good guide.
AXTON  [author] Oct 11, 2023 @ 12:59am
@HypnicJolt is that so? weird. tbh idk what to do with that, since it's the devs problem. Anyway, if anyone sees this, do let me know if you have a way to solve this or if you happens to also have the same issue. I'll see what i can do on my end, in the meantime.

So I've played multiple online matches as both the demon and the slayer and have killed other players in matches. However, even after this, the kills are not counting towards the Ruby Demon skin. Is this a bug?
