Complete Trait list for Rome Total War
Por Knapping_Kitty
This guide is simply a copied and pasted traits list from the data file "export_desc_character_traits.txt" in the Rome: total war folder. I didn't write it and am mostly putting it here so that I myself can see the traits and effects without having to leave the game, which is not good for my windows 8 computer, which has to reformat itself every time i switch between rome: total war and my desktop.

Nice start but accuracy in how much of each that each trait would affect would be great, for example, it stating that Aesthetic 3 (Aesthete) would do -3 to command and +3 to influence.

Also, so many "-----", should totally re-format this to make it easier to read.

furthermore, you can create generals by putting warlords (general units) in the queue, and then processing them with process_rq for the settlement. You can make up to 9 generals at a time this way. Then you endow them with the traits you want and ancillaries you want. doing it this way, you can ensure you have two outstanding generals in each settlement you control.

in point of fact, some traits are exceedingly useful while others are not.

Over a long period of time, I've boiled down the trait list to about three short pages of traits which are useful, maintain law and order, and also maximize trade, taxes, agriculture and mining output.

also your ancillaries should be chosen the same way.

@id222 - The author has missed out trait description names, prob while copy/pasting just one line of text, when it carries on underneath.

I tried adding the word "Skill", onto the end of the traits that popped up error messages, they seemed to work after that.

e.g: give_trait "Hanno" MathematicsSkill 2.

It may be MathematicSkill, no 's' inbetween, if the first option errors.

This issue annoyed me for some time, so I hope it helps.

just select the General you wanna give the trait to and use:
give_trait this "the trait you need"

eg. give_trait this GoodCommander 5

Easier :)

A note on names for Generals/Leaders. Starting Leaders names must be typed as written int the campaign file: "desc_strat" All new Leaders will have the added underscore as it is a system generated name. So "Kleomenes of Sparta" must be typed as is, but any system generated sons will be "Sonofkleomenes of_Sparta". This is true for Medevil 2 names.

for some reason i always come back to play this game
and now that i found all those traits codes even more fun :)

but i got some problems with some of the traits
i get an error while entering some of the traits
the game "doesn't find" them
Mathematics/NaturalPhilosophy those (and few more) traits doesn't work for me

anyone got this problem too??

but yet just today I tried with Kleomenes of Sparta and I had to do it the old way e.g. "Kleomenes of_Sparta" so best I can say is if one way doesn't work then try the other and one of them should.

If anyone is wondering, in the remastered version if a character has two names it should be entered as "Tiberius Of Rome", unlike in medieval II where it would be "Francis of_Rhodes" (yes the quotation marks matter too). I don't know for sure if it will be this way for everyone as it can be so touchy but it's the only way that works on mine.
