Talos Smuggling Ring Objective/Black Market Achievement - Text Guide

Text version for solving the "Talos Smuggling Ring" objective. There's only one other guide I saw on here and it's a video, which means it's not a guide.

Prelude

Talos Smuggling Mission is an annoying objective in the Prey reimagining of 2017.
The only other guide I could see on the Steam website was a video, which is both useless and resource intensive.

You won't be able to start it until after you've reached the Arboretum section of the game.
You'll also need a wrench and a GLOO gun.

On Talos 1 there's a long-running smuggling operation. There are six caches hidden in safes behind certain fire alarms. By hitting the bells of the alarms three times, they will open revealing goods, including a Neuromod in each one.

Starting the Objective

The mission is available from the corpse of Lily Morris in the hallway leading to the Lobby elevator in the centre of the Arboretum.

To find Lily, access a Security Station console and use the employee tracking function to track Lily Morris. She'll be under the Hardware Labs section, alphabetised by first name.



Lily Morris, an audio log, the mission start and the first cache will be in proximity of each other. They're in the hallway leading to the Lobby elevator.

Bell #1: Arboretum

The first bell you'll see is the one right above the mission start. It's on the right side of the hallway leading to the Lobby elevator. Simply look above the corpse of Lily Morris and hit the bell three times.

Bell #2: Fitness Centre in the Crew Quarters

After you enter the Fitness Centre in the Crew Quarters, turn right and continue forward. Looking up and to the right to the corner of the hallway, you'll see this bell. It can easily be reached.

Bell #3: Hallway between Employee Orientation and Bathroom in the Talos 1 Lobby

The next bell is back in the lobby, convenient as there is also another bell in this area. On the side of the lobby's first floor with the bathrooms is the Employee Orientation room. Head through this and out the other side. Looking up you'll see the next bell next to a hanging lamp. Jump on the lamp and hit the bell three times.

Bell #4: The Transtar Exhibit in the Talos 1 Lobby

On the opposite side of the first floor is the hagiographic Transtar exhibit. Opposite the Neuromod display to the right of the entrance doors is another bell. Again, hit three times to open.

Bell #5: The Atrium of the Hardware Labs

The next bell is on the second floor of the atrium of the Hardware Labs. This is the section after the wood panelled foyer and the security checkpoint. There will be a vaguely Soviet/Art-Deco statue across from you when you enter and on the right hand side of that statue is the bell. Simply stand on the corner of the statue and hit the bell three times.

Bell #6: The Office of the second floor of the Cargo Bay above the Cargo Staging Area.

In the wood office above the Cargo Staging Area is the sixth bell. There are actually two bells in here, the false bell is the one that's eye level in the center of the room.

Final Thoughts

At this point you should have completed the mission, gained six extra Neuromods and the "Black Market" achievement.
