Steno?
know that stenography is a method of

text input

that uses recording to write entire

words or phrases i'm going to assume

you've watched that video up to the end

of how steno works
Gaming keyboards NKRO!
is an key rollover keyboard and key

rollover (NKRO)means that it can detect up to

any number of key presses at once

most keyboards including laptop
keyboards can only detect up to six or
so keys pressed simultaneously
some words like grind require many keys
to be pressed altogether
on most keyboards many letters would
either be dropped or none would even
register at all

most nq over keyboards are usually

gaming mechanical keyboards that can be

bought fairly inexpensively

beware of falsely advertised!
i say advertised because there are some keyboards that may be falsely claiming this capability

if you want to be absolutely sure that your keyboard will work with plover i have a page linked in the description :: listing some keyboarhat are known to be nk rollover ( NKRO ) i would not recommend starting with the other hardware i will
mod Gaming keyboard...
inverting (cherry) keycaps
printer one trick to make chording easier is to invert the keycaps of the top row

printer one trick to make chording easier is to invert the keycaps of the top row

here's me stenowing on my cheap nq rollover keyboard with the regular keycaps the inverted keycaps and the center toppers to show how they make a difference
steno toppers
if your keyboard has cherry mx stems, and you have access to a 3d printer,
    if your keyboard has ::
  1. cherry mx stems,

  2. access to a 3d printer,

you can also print stenotoppers toppers are key caps designed to remove the stagger and reduce the gaps between each key it makes chording a lot easier i actually printed some modified center toppers for my keyboard which has automobile switches i have the seo file in the description if you manage to find a similar keyboard

print this!
when learning plover with a regular keyboard you should print out this diagram showing the central keys on a qwerty layout

when learning plover with a regular

keyboard you should print out this

if you don't have any special hardware
you can still use plural with any keyboard via the arpeggiate function you individually press the keys to spell a chord and press the spacebar when you're done it is sort of like sticky keys with the hardware aspect out of the way let's

which? Learning PLover! of Course!!!
how should one actually go about learning stenography??
learning steno requires a lot of theory the two theory textbooks available are
art of coding and learn plover !
    two theory textbooks available are
  1. art of coding and learn plover !

  2. art of coding and learn plover !

  3. art of coding and learn plover !
most people prefer art of course as it gets you started on briefs and writing sentences something that learned plover lacks a little with that said i only skimmed through art of courting after i had learned to steno and

i pretty much only relied on learning plover ! for my theory they are both great resources

art of coding introduces you to a lot of briefs and i find that really nice but if you prefer learn plover ! i would definitely recommend you check out this wiki page containing the top 100 english words[www.notabug.org] and their respective plover briefs and entries

that sounds like a lot like 100 words but don't worry most of these have an easy to remember reason behind them and you don't have to remember all of them at once it's very useful to know some of these briefs though as it will save you a lot of time and frustration when you try to stroke them phonetically

how should one actually go

about learning stenography

learning steno requires a lot of theory

the two theory textbooks available are

art of coding and learn plover

most people prefer art of course as it

gets you started on briefs and writing

sentences

something that learned plover lacks a

little with that said i only skimmed

through art of courting after i had

learned to steno

and i pretty much only relied on

learning plover for my theory they are

both great resources

art of coding introduces you to a lot of

briefs and i find that really nice

easy to remember reason behind them

and you don't have to remember all of

them at once it's very useful to know

some of these briefs though as it will

save you a lot of time and frustration

when you try to stroke them phonetically

typey type
for actually practicing steno i would

recommend steno jig and typey type
i pretty much exclusively used xenoblade
when i was starting off and that really
got me going with my journey into
stenography

often i would just set the drill length

to 500 words and do it over and over

until i got bored

it also has other useful exercises as

well like the one-syllable words the

common words and the markov chain

generated sentences

the one-syllable words exercise is

especially useful for starting off as
it's a great way to learn the central
layout
typing type on the other hand has
lessons that gradually add more and more
elements of plover theory

typey type also saves your progress and

just like with steno jig it shows hints

for each word

you can easily customize each lesson for

length repetition and the starting and

ending points
Steno Arcade
and there's Steno Arcade of course! Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Not for the casuals... Yet !
