The Controls

The controls for the game are as follows :

• Left Click, Enter, Space
  Advances the text box, i.e. the game.
  
  
• Mousewheel Up, PageUp
  Rollbacks the game.
  
  
• Mousewheel Down, PageDown
  Forwards the game.
  
  
• Arrow Keys
  Selects menu/game options.
  
  
• A
  Toggles auto mode, letting the game continue without you
  having to press any button. Press it again to turn it off.
  
  
• Ctrl
  Skips the game while the key is held down.
  
  
• Tab
  Toggles Skip.
  
  
• Right Click, Escape
  Brings you to the game's menu screen.
  
  
• Middle Click, H
  Hides the textbox.
  
  
• F
  Toggles Fullscreen mode. Press it again to return to Windowed mode.
  
  
• S
  Takes a screenshot. For the normal Steam screenshot, press F12.
  
  
• Delete
  Deletes the highlighted save file.

The Cast

Takahiro - The main character of the story. He's a young 17-year-old
"rising judo star" according to himself. As far as protagonists go, he's
the a-typical harem series cardboard cut-out. Has good standing morals,
but is consistently thrown into temptation every now and again. Takahiro
has a strong sense of honor, a bit of a perverted side, and a little bit of a
nerdy side as well. Not once in the entire game are we ever given a glimpse
as to what he looks like.


Koyomi - Takahiro's childhood friend, who only shows up in the beginning of
the game. She tells Takahiro to pray for success, leading him to where the
game takes place.



Ichikawa - Takahiro's classmate, who has some not too uncommon anime
trope ecchi (pervy) feelings towards his younger sister. He tells Takahiro
the location of the shrine.



Ariya - A fellow Judo practitioner who draws a map for Takashiro, so that he
may find the shrine's location.



Village Elder Hayate - Narumi's grandfather. He is a sensible old man, who
often has to reel in Miyo's overbearing sense of justice.



Tsuyuri - A female spirit who sends Takahiro into another world for a specific
task. Has a rather playful yet manipulative nature, and enjoys teasing Takahiro
along his journey, but also imparting important advice, vague as it might be.



Miyo - The village's chief of security, Miyo is a no-nonsense girl with a strong
sense of justice, but is easily annoyed and flustered when thrown in lewd
situations. Called a "Tsundere Tyrant" by Takahiro.



Narumi - Miyo's closest friend, Narumi is her polar opposite, having a more
laid-back and friendly personality, as well as being quite bold with her body.



Machiko - The dark-skinned older sister of Maeko. Calm and poised,
but she is quite the flirt and knows how to use her feminine wiles. Often
tries to keep her younger, more juvenile sister in line, as well as protecting
her from using her magic.



Maeko - The single fanged younger sister of Machiko. Energetic and
happy-go-lucky, but even moreso shamelessly bold with her body and
antics surrounding it. Has a difficult time using her magic, as it takes a
considerable toll on her body whenever she uses it.



The Slime Sisters
These girls show up as the antagonists of the story, but have a very brief role
and appearance. Sakura, the pink one, is the first to appear, then near the end,
arrives with all her sisters.

The Choices & Differences With Other Visual Novels

Like with every visual novel, there is always a moment during the game
where the player must make a decision that will impact on which ending
is achieved. For romance-themed visual novels, these decisions also
lead into which of the cast the main character will be paired with.

Sakura Spirits breaks from tradition and only has one moment where
the player makes a decision. Once the choice is made, ultimately it
makes very little impact to the story, and less so in terms of the ending.




The only affect the choice will have is an image.

It should be noted that after the end credits, the game remarks on
this title being a prequel (or prologue) of things to come, so there
is a chance that the next title will work like the more traditional
visual novels.

No, it really isn't. Unlocking pics isn't a consequence. If you've ever played a VN (a "real" one), you'd know that more often than not, most VNs have branching paths that are affected by the choices the players make. That's the main reason for their replayability, as well as what makes them so popular.

So once again, it doesn't really matter in the sense of story-telling purposes, because the result of the game remains the same. By that definition, it isn't a true consequence, at least not in the same vein as other VNs where your choices actually DO affect the outcome.

If anything, this game is quite boring in that respect, because nothing major ever happens.

Is a consecuence after all whether you like it or not because it affects one part of the story development although the ending is the same.

Getting a screen is not the same as a consequence where it affects the story or even gives you an ending. Ultimately, it doesn't matter which you pick, the ending result is the exact same.

Not sure if that's being said but, yes, there's consecuences in this VN while choosing. The only consecuences are the lockables screenshots. If you choose to return to the mansion, you get a set screens of Maeko while if you go straight to the village, you get a set screens of Miyo and Narumi in their kimonos. Not to mention, if you never go straight to the village, you will never see them in their kimonos at all.

Damn it's a shame the game goes this way... I was really hoping on going through all the routes (starting with Miyo Tsundere Tyrant ftw ). After finding this out, this VN is suddenly not worth the 10$ i paid. :(

Yeah, it's a shame because I had figured that as a visual novel, naturally, it'd operate the same way as all the others have. But after one playthrough and the "moment of decision"
as I put it on my guide, there was no real consequences for chosing.

Nothing along the likes of say, Katawa Shoujo. Which for the record, is an amazing
game that is worth playing. It's free too.
