With the release of more maps for Halo 3 in the mod tools, I couldn’t resist picking out Diamondback and creating a fun AI war with it! I do apologize for the reduced amount of mods as of late, but I can assure you this one was definitely worth the wait. UNSC and Covenant forces are engaged in an endless conflict for control of this desert canyon. This map introduces the Elites as back in control of the Covenant instead of the Brutes. These guys utilize the H2A design brought into Halo 3 by Ryno.

*This mod has been updated to function with the February 28th, 2025 patch of the MCC.*

I have also made some breakthroughs on the code side, enabling more AI control than ever before by the players. Now you guys can enable/disable the spawning of each and every AI squad and vehicle on map via control buttons located in the central cave. There are tons of combinations you guys can experiment with, and more will be added throughout the future with updates. There is also a 3rd faction on this map - Flood. See the description thread pinned below for a detailed description of this new system.

Features:
  • An endless AI War that will last as long as you want.
  • Full control by the players on which squads will spawn via control buttons. See thread below for a detailed description of the system!
  • Custom assets created by myself and some awesome members of the community!
  • Pathfinding nearly everywhere.
  • Placed weapons and vehicles at the ready for each team at the bases.
  • A togglable three-way AI battle for extra chaos if the player so chooses.
  • Dropship deployments for many AI squads for an extra immersive feel.
  • On map placed AI that do not utilize dropships for quicker engagements.
  • Advanced AI orders that make sure most of the bots are aggressively committed to attacks.
  • Random system for each AI squad and vehicle, so many combinations and possibilities can spawn. Think species, weapons carried, ranks, and vehicle variants.

AI Teams:
  • UNSC: GREEN
  • COVENANT: PURPLE
  • FLOOD: GOLD

Spawning:

With update 1.2 of this mod, team spawns have been made to be more consistent across the board. Due to Halo 3 multiplayer limitations, this takes some effort from you the player to set up each game. Following this process is not required if you do not care about where players will respawn. If you do want your spawns to work correctly, follow this procedure each time you start a new game on this map.

Make sure you are on the RED team when in the pregame lobby. After configuring your settings, launch the match. Make sure you are still on the RED team on the first spawn in. From here, you are going to be joining a few teams in a very specific order. This matters. Please follow this order exactly:

Change from RED to BLUE > GREEN > ORANGE > PURPLE > GOLD.

After you make it to GOLD, you are all set. Join the teams listed above in the AI teams section to ally yourself with a faction. Spawns will be consistent with the sides the AI arrive on. Green will spawn you in the UNSC side, Purple will spawn you on the Covenant side, and Gold will spawn you in the map's center. Being on any other team color other than GREEN, PURPLE, or GOLD will result in you being alone with no AI allies. If you fail the above order of team swaps, you will need to return to the pregame lobby, reset yourself to RED team, and start again in a fresh session.

Diamondback AI Battlefield players! I have just released an update that restores full functionality of this mod with the MCC patch released yesterday. Everything should feel just like before the patch. Enjoy and let me know if you find any bugs.

@delcastillodaniel56 If you want to play UNSC or Covenant vs Flood, I recommend checking out my Floodhalla, Floodbound, and Containment Breached mods. I think you will love those as they are exactly what you are asking for here. I just currently don't have the time to custom tailor this mod to your exact expectations. Sorry about that.

I just test 1v1 either human vs covenant, human vs flood, or covenant vs flood but i think is better to make a separated variant of the map

@delcastillodaniel56 I can look into adding more Flood, however I’m not sure if the game will remain stable and tolerate it. I have packed in a truly large amount of AI bots in this one, and to be honest there really isn’t much more room before the game will start having stability issues.

need more flood, maybe include a flood vehicle tag and a few more flood spawn like a infested place in the map
