Man I love fishing, you should too, and this is your guide to the ultimate HoloCure fishing.

Fishing Pole Unlocks

• Beginner's Fishing Pole: Clownfish, Shrimp, Tuna
  
• Dad's Fishing Pole: Koi, Lobster, Eel
  
• Blacksmith's Fishing Pole: Pufferfish, Manta Ray
  
• Atlantis Fishing Pole: Turtle, Squid
  
• Turkey Fishing Pole: Axolotl, Shark
  
• Golden Fishing Pole: None; increasing chances to get the Shiny variants

Streak Bonus Multiplier

• 0-9: 0 fish, 0 speed
  
• 10-19: 1 fish, 1 speed
  
• 20-29: 2 fish, 2 speed
  
• 30-39: 3 fish, 3 speed
  
• 40-49: 4 fish, 4 speed
  
• 50-59: 5 fish, 5 speed
  
• 60-69: 6 fish, 6 speed
  
• 70-79: 7 fish, 7 speed
  
• >80: n fish, 7 speed (where n is tenths of the current combo you have, e.x. 80 chains means you will get 8 fish multiplier, while speed will never exceed 7)

Exclamation Marks

Available in Yellow (Easy), Orange (Medium), Red (Hard), and Triple Reds

• Yellow: Clownfish, Shrimp, Tuna (2 Good)
  
• Orange: Lobster, Eel, Pufferfish, Koi, Manta Ray, Squid, Turtle, Furnitures (3-5 Good)
  
• Red: Manta Ray, Squid, Turtle, Axolotl, Shark, Furnitures (6-8 Good)
  
• Triple Reds: Furnitures, Shiny

Extras

NPCs will have chances to drop 1-3 fishes based on which fishing pole currently equipped.

i just got shiny achievement with the basic rod. all i wanted was some shrimp to feed my slaves.

Huytimeclock probably figured it out, but you don't need all the shinys for the achievement! You only need one of every non-shiny fish + 1 shiny (which doesn't matter) to get the achievement :)

Huytimeclock, it is based entirely on that small percentage chance. I ended up fishing up a golden manta ray with a turkey rod after only a few hours of playtime. Not sure if you're getting unlucky as I don't know the chance, but I certainly got extremely lucky.

stood next to the pond afk with a turkey rod, came back to 40+ turtles and no sharks at all

Someone on reddit (https://redd.it/15vcc0x) made a spreadsheet to track the percentages of each fish catched. According to his numbers the best rods to target specific fish are:

Shrimp: Beginner
Clownfish: Beginner
Tuna: Dad
Koi: Dad
Lobster: Blacksmith
Eel: Atlantean
Pufferfish: Turkey
Manta Ray: Turkey
Turtle: Turkey
Squid: Turkey
Shark: Golden
Axolotl: Golden

On the subject of leaving the game open so the other girls fish for you, as long as your PC is going to be on anyway, it's just slow but free fish. One thing to note, since you aren't getting bonuses to the amount of fish when other girls fish them up, just the unlocks from rod type, you can switch to a lesser rod to farm up large quantities of shrimp or whatever your workers are screaming for but you never haul up with top tier equipment. It's less hassle to just fire them and train up a new one, but some of us have rules and/or brain damage

Wish we knew the rates on Golden Fish cause they're absurdly stupid to get I swear, had the Golden Fishing rod for a while and probably have cast the rod over 300 times without a single triple !. Crazy.
