Bonuspoints for all three talking skills will get you started with successful / "green" speech checks right away. - The Bonus points equal only 20lp anyway - which in Combat skills you will have earned pretty fast with the first two or three easiest fights.
Cha 8 allows for a full Party without having to spend a feat. Also: you can choose Master Trader and Sargent.
Cha 9 (plus the Initial disposition Bonus from Master Trader and the Chip-Upgrade on the Squad Leader) will allow you to get the "Pit Acquired"-Achievements (- if you want to go for that and stick with one of the Habitat factions instead of the Monks-Ending).
Cha 10 allows for Cult Leader (= extra party xp): which means Faythe will get to level 8 (assuming a full crew) instead of only Level 7.
