Opening Screen
When you open the game, choose the Settings & Support tab on the lower left side. You can also use the left mouse key to strum the strings that run down the left of the screen. You should hear the sound of each string. If not, you need to test your sound settings.

After clicking the settings you should see the following screen.

Be sure that the Sound Mix sliders to the left are on, I suggest setting them to 5 long enough to determine they are working. As you can see, mine are much lower than 5. You just need to be sure that it is loud enough to hear, so you won't think it isn't working.

You can see the key bindings, and use this opportunity to alter any that you care to. Screen Resolution, Mouse Pointer, Quality Level and Mouse Sensitivity are all pretty self-explanatory. On the right are check boxes. Make sure you turn off the built-in soundtrack.

Next, find a music file that you want to use. Right click the file's properties and make sure that it is an MP3, WAV, or OGG file. Create a folder on your desktop and copy the file into that folder. Once you have the file copied, test it to make sure it is a working file.

Click the tab on the bottom left that says EXTERNAL SOUNDTRACK FILE and go to the desktop folder that you just created. It will appear to be empty, but the file is still there.

***I know that it is showing up in the following pic, but that is because I took the pic before opening the file in game. The game will not display the individual files until after you login and try to pair a music file to an individual song you created.***

Once you select that file you should see this. You should also get a fading script that tells you how many files it found in your selected folder. You should also hear the music from your folder playing.

Next, go into the game and click on your Song List tab then select a song that your band has written. On the lower left there is a Rename Song tab and a Song File tab. Choose Song File and it will open your music folder that you had created on the desktop earlier.

Now the song will not only play on Shady O'Grady's Stranded Radio station, but will also play when you use it in a gig. Just be aware that it will only play during the song's time and as soon as the next gig song begins, it dies out. This is especially emphasized if you have 4x speed clicked for gigs. The only time you can hear them un-abbreviated is when you hear them on soundtrack.
