How to Install GZDoom [DOOM 2]

A Guide about teaching you how to Install GZDoom Source Port to Doom 2 and it's expantions

Hello There!

Hello! As most of us know Doom 2 has a lot of mods...like a LOT and even If you are not modding the game playing a source port that makes the game more fluid and polished than it's original relase is always a good thing and one of those ports is GZDoom and Im here to teach you how to get it working.

Quick Note

The way GZDoom is installed is exactly same as how do you it for Doom(1993) so If you know the process for that game you will repeat that exact process

This guide is for people who wanna play Doom 2 first or only wanna play Doom 2 and help them by carrying the guide over here but If you need a quick refresher you are more than welcome to continue reading

Now we clearified this let's continue on our guide

The Main Ingridient(Skip If You Already Downloaded GZDoom)

If you don't have GZDoom downloaded you can download it by clicking on this glowing bad boy[devbuilds.drdteam.org]

The Installation for Both Base Game and Expansions

• Okay First Go to the Game's Location(by default it's on the image below)

• Then Enter the Folder named base and drop everything that's inside of GZDoom Zip there
  
• Delete dosbox.exe inside the same folder and rename gzdoom.exe into dosbox.exe

After this just launch the game by selecting this option, GZDoom will open and ask you which WAD you wanna play whether its base Doom 2 or its expansions its up to you (you can also open other WADs from here once they are installed):

Autoloading Mods(Skip If You Don't Plan on Modding the Game)

If you downloaded GZDoom for modding purposes and want the mod to automaticly load when you launch the game you need to configure the gzdoom.ini located here and follow the steps below:





Once you located the .ini file open it and locate the section named [doom.Autoload]
Then type Path=*files name* right under it
For Example:




Afterwards just launch doom from the option showed above and your mod will automaticly load
