SS Kaiserin Auguste Victoria

Here is the Kaiserin Auguste Victoria of the Hamburg America Line.

She was originally named "Europa", but was changed to "Kaiserin Auguste Victoria" after Augusta Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein, who was present at her launch in 1905. At the time she was the largest ship in the world, but this lasted until RMS Lusitania was completed 2 years later. In 1910, she, a long with the American cruiser USS Birmingham, were used in the first ship to shore aircraft flights. In April of 1912, footage of Kaiserin was used in the German film "In Nacht und Eis", a disaster film about the sinking of the RMS Titanic, with parts of the movie being filmed aboard her. Kaiserin was docked in Hamburg when World War 1 broke out, and would remain in port for the entire duration of the war. She was surrendered to the allies in 1919 and was chartered by the US Navy to bring American troops home from Europe. In 1920 she was then chartered to Cunard Line, which sold her to Canadian Pacific one year later and renamed her "Empress of Scotland". She served until 1930 when RMS Empress of Britain replaced her and was sold for scrap. During her scrapping, she caught fire, broke in two, and sank in harbor. Her wreck was raised and fully scrapped in 1933.
