What the what?!

Gumball and Darwin from The Amazing World of Gumball are now in Rivals! Fight with 2 characters in one, with plenty of references from the show!

Gumball is a 12 year old blue cat and Darwin is a 10 year old goldfish that is Gumball's pet goldfish and best friend. Gumball and Darwin go on many adventures together throughout their lives in Elmore. Both of these characters have good speed, but Gumball is stronger and has more range, yet slower than Darwin; likewise, Darwin is faster and better for combos but isn't too great for killing and can die early. However, both of them have great synergy together and can be used seperately or together with enough practice.

Moves and Specials

Gumball and Darwin's moves revolve a central rushdown gameplan with both of them being able to get in the opponent's face quickly. Darwin can be used to quickly get damage and Gumball can be used to kill earlier with heavy hitting moves.

Gimmick: The Duo

Instead of having one moveset with the lead character in control and the supporting character as attacks (like some other duo-based characters), Gumball and Darwin have two separate movesets for each character respectively, with a down special to switch between to each other.

Gumball
The cynical cat Gumball is no stranger to battles and brawls. Gumball has used a lot of moves throughout the show, whether they're his own or moves "borrowed" from others.

Neutral Special: Ego Ball

"You're so ugly that when you entered an ugly contest, the judges said no professionals!"
Gumball's Neutral Special is Ego Ball, a decent projectile that will personally hurt the ego of your opponent. This is a quick projectile that can stun the opponent long enough for Gumball to run to his opponents from long distances to make combos. The projectile has 3 levels of charge, blue, yellow, and red. Blue is the lowest charge level and travels the shortest distance at the slowest speed, although it still does some damage. Likewise, yellow and red follow the same pattern, with yellow being the middle and red being the highest level, though it takes the largest to charge. The charge level can be heard and seen with indicators. Every two ticks of sound, an effect will pop in front of Gumball, denoting that he reached a higher level of charge.

Allowing the move to charge for 10 ticks will activate Gumball's insult. Everyone in the match will freeze, including Gumball, focusing everyone on Gumball as he insults his opponent. Once finished, he unleashes a much larger burst of a blast which will likely kill both the opponent and their ego.

Side Special: Explosion Chase

Gumball's Side Special is Explosion Chase, a full sprint that will explode anyone that gets in your path. This can be a good recovery tool or way to get in for combos. However, there is somewhat of a slow startup and endlag. You are able to jump out of the move to follow into another hit if you either are in the air or hit an opponent.

Up Special: Shoryuken

Gumball's Up Special is Shoryuken, probably one of the most iconic fighting game moves to exist. In typical Gumball fashion, he "masterfully" recreates this move, flying through the air with an upward punch. This move has two hitboxes, the first being a larger hitbox which can get many opponents flying upward, and a second which is smaller, but can be comboed into with the first hitbox, leading for some devastating combos.

Darwin
Darwin's fish slaps and kicks of fury are here to rumble! Darwin is ready to use his kicks and whismical optimism to victory.

Neutral Special: Water Blast

Darwin's Neutral Special is the Water Blast, a move where Darwin will shoot out a ball of water quickly, which won't do very much damage-wise, but will be enough to catch opponents off guard to get in closer with Darwin.

Side Special: Emotionally Rewarded Rainbow

Darwin's Side Special is the Emotionally Rewarded Rainbow, a quick dash of speed to boost you forward. Although this does not go too far, the attack is sure to help you get back on stage in a pinch or get close into opponents which can lead to combos.

Up Special: Swan Dive of Eternal Beauty

Darwin's Up Special is the Swan Dive of Eternal Beauty, a super jump that leads to a gracious dive back on stage. Although Gumball practically invented this move, Darwin has been trying it too, especially during his afterschool club. This move has Darwin first quickly charge a jump which then leads to a high super jump which then puts Darwin in special fall. The swan that appears on Darwin allows for him to hit opponents off the top of the stage for finishing combos.

References and Other Moves
Gumball and Darwin's movesets take inspiration from both other fighting game characters and their own show. For instance, Gumball will do a signature karate chop for forward air, use the slide from Suburban Karate Master for a down tilt, or even a slap from Mutant Fridge Mayhem. Additionally, Darwin can do moves like a sweeping kick for down tilt, use the wand (from the appropriately titled episode, The Wand) or even use the highly toxic hair spray from the 80's for his back air. Try their moves and try to find all the references! In addition to this, Gumball and Darwin both have 4 unique taunts each, with one being pulled at random each time you taunt. The taunts can be held down with the taunt button to gloat for as long as you want. Or, you can spam the taunt button and spam Gumball/Darwin's voice lines just for the fun of it.

Stage
Gumball and Darwin's home stage is their school, Elmore Junior High. More information is in the link below.

this character is very good! however there is one problem. gumball and darwins specials are a little too similar. they have the exact same moves but with different animations. this is an exception for gumball being able to charge his neutral special which is really bad because that means gumball is better than darwin. characters with an attack of switching characters have to be equally good at different things. like gumball could keep his moves but darwin could have an attack where he blows a bunch of bubbles that trap the opponent and poison them for a while before popping. and maby the forward special could be where darwin grows roots out of his butt that grabs someone and squishes them into the ground (a reference to a joke in one of the episodes)

Does Gumballs chargeable "Ego Ball" interact with other workshop character attacks that use the code from Kamehameha type attacks? If not... please? pretty please can you try and see about adding that compatibility? Gumball did throw around a couple of DBZ references from time to time... it would be so perfect...
