How to play in Ultrawide

Hi,

Due to the lack of Ultrawide support for this game, it may feel a little bit weird for Ultrawide users like myself to have black bars. The developers have responded to this issue and said that they will not implement an official fix as the game is intended to be played as it currently is, due to problems from spawning and stuff like that. However, I have taken the time to find a solution for this issue, and lo and behold, there is one!

Credit goes to RoseTheFlower for this wonderful fix/mod. Here's the information you need to know to fix this:

The solution removes the black bars from the game at all ultrawide and wider resolutions.

1. Download the mod archive - https://github.com/RoseTheFlower/UltrawideIndex/releases/tag/hallsoftorment
2. Unpack the files to the game folder.
3. Run the game.

If playing windowed, make sure to resize the window after switching to this mode.
To uninstall the fix, simply remove or move the files.

Tested on the latest Steam version at 2560x1080, 3440x1440, 3840x1080 and 5120x1440.

I am using a 21:9 resolution, specifically 2560x1080. The game functions perfectly fine, although there may be instances where item text boxes extend beyond the screen. Apart from that, the gameplay experience does not feel significantly different.

There are some weird information going off-screen when picking up one of the 3 items from a mini-boss, so be aware that it's gonna be somewhat difficult to read. Maybe a fix for this would do, but you can check the details of the item you picked up check it in the inventory.

@Di Doing anything but playing would distract me too much. I couldn't focus on doing both things. 🤣 I prefer to just spend time with one thing at a time. That way I get to complete the game 100% a lot quicker.

@Vasharal well, in your boots i would probably be watching some stream or YT video while playing, thats actually what i am doing usually with my 16:9 even xD

@Di If developers have offered support for the Ultrawide monitor, they probably provided some sort of solution for that. One game I've had similar problems that came to mind is Valorant. I didn't even play it because it just not a pleasant experience to just be surrounded by black bars. 😔

I know I'm speaking from my point of view, but generally what I want is just be able to utilize my screen, not for any kind of advantage over someone with a 16:9 monitor, but just not see black bars. I personally dislike them, but partially is my fault, I really thought the monitor is supported.

Got it for productivity mainly and have considered getting a normal one and the ultra wide acts as secondary monitor to whatever I'm doing.
