A quick fix for the black screen error on Windows 11

What's the deal with the black screen when I start the game?

So you've fired up Shantae: Risky's Revenge on Windows 11 and started a new game, only to be greeted by a black screen while the opening music plays. The good news is, your computer isn't broken, but the bad news is that this might be a recurring issue for older games.

The basic issue is that on some computers, Windows 11 is assigning games to run off the CPU (and possibly not even all the cores), rather than the GPU, which is resulting in black screens, crashes or generally low frame rates. This is largely impacting older titles. Thankfully, the fix for this is pretty easy.

The fix is as follows:

1. Click the Start Bar and search 'Graphics Settings'. Click this.
2. Click Browse to add a new app and find the .exe for Risky's Revenge.
3. Click the program that has now appeared and click 'Options'.
4. Click 'High Performance', which should have the name of your GPU underneath.
5. Click 'Save'.

I own the GOG version of this game but I still get a error talking about
